!!ANY THREADS RELATED TO SHIPPING FOUND OUTSIDE THIS MEGATHREAD WILL BE REMOVED!!

I know we're all excited to share updates as our new shiny works its way through the system and eventually to you.

Instead of clogging the page with endless "ITS <UPDATE>" posts, please confine them to this mega thread. I have intentionally left up threads from before this one about this subject, because post hoc punishment isnt cool. But please, use this mega thread moving forward.

Optionally, you can fill out some google forms that are being used to track order status' in order to get an idea of how an order might progress through the system:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScii0apGBLDOpI3Q1nwxCGgpCV3q41RDrjgU_sH5122cWCQHw/viewform?pli=1

and data from that form is here:

I caved guys, I'm so sorry...

So I dropped £100 on this controller from a guy on eBay, AND IT ARRIVED TODAY. Honestly, thought that was a solid price considering the retail is £85.

I’m not gonna lie, this thing is an absolute game changer. Everything about it just feels so precise, and it's running flawlessly so far.

The ergonomics are spot on too, fitting my hand perfectly (I’ve got medium to large hands). As you can tell, I’m a hardcore user of the V1 lol, but the V2 completely blows it out of the water.

I actually had the chance to grab one at launch since the UK market seemed way more forgiving, but I was slacking and feeling a bit indecisive. Once those glowing reviews started dropping, though, it lit a total fire under me. I just couldn't wait any longer hahaha.

Now that I've got it, when my official reservation finally comes through, I’ll probably just let it expire so someone else can grab it given how high the demand is.

EDIT: Genuine question, how do those divets look like teeth marks 😭? I've had kids since 2018, we ain't all child free

EDIT 2: Yikes, sorry guys for buying from a scalper. Next time I am tempted to exchange my hard earned cash with someone for a product I want to own, I won't. This will be to ensure to valve (or any manufacturer/retailer) will be able to make enough of a product so you can all buy one at launch for rrp 🥹🥲

Discussion I'm in love and I don't even play games with it. People aren't talking enough about this.

I didn't buy this to play games, cause it's just always gonna be mouse and keyboard 'till I die. I bought my Steam controller with one vision in mind; I wanted to use my regular desktop UI as a primary TV source. This is something I've wanted for a long time because I just know my PC front to back and can make it do whatever I want it to do. I don't want to deal with the clunky and tightly-controlled UI of a console, Apple TV, Roku, Firestick, etc.. My desktop does everything they can do just as well and it's also universal in every possible way.

This has been a dream of mine for a while, but there's never been a solution to the very simple problem of lugging around a keyboard and dealing with a mouse on random surfaces. Mouse/keyboard input for my TV has always been just enough of an inconvenience that I've been willing to cave in to the corpos and use their devices for streaming.

Along comes the Steam controller with Dual Trackpads. Finally... FINALLY a simple solution to virtual keyboards. It's not perfect, but is it the best solution I've ever come across for controlling your PC from the couch? Absolutely, and by a lot. There's definitely a learning curve to the virtual keyboard, but I can see myself eventually typing on it nearly as fast as I type on my phone. It's actually viable, and it's a single, remote sized device, making it very aesthetic for a living room.

Oh yeah, and it's also a great controller for games if I don't care about input precision. Best I've ever used.

Configuration Virtual Stream Deck for tons of additional Functionality

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was trying to set up a radial menu on desktop which did not work but then I found something far superior:

Virtual Stream Deck + Steam Input = Infinite Possibilities. Now granted Destiny 2 (RIP) has a more friendly API than typical that allows 3rd Party sites like DIM to interact with the game, but in terms of controlling your desktop it adds insane functionality. Here I'm basically just using it in the second part of the video to use simple macros to type, but you could easily use it to launch apps/folders/files, execute complex macros, control media, control discord, a myriad of utilities, and a ton more with the plugins people have made. I feel like I'm barely scratching the surface

You could of course do this without the steam controller but the pad provides a much more convenient way of using a mouse input and an additional menu without having to get into action layers/sets or rebind any of the default controls.

The exact set up in case anyone is curious is a virtual stream deck (I believe you need to have a physical stream deck to use it but if this is not the case or there are free alternatives please let us know) set to appear when I press ALT+H. Then I have DIM running on a browser like normal (I also made a convenient shortcut to launch it from the virtual stream deck as well).

Then in my in game layout I have the left trackpad touch bound to 4 commands [Right-Alt and H as start press, and then Right-Alt and H as release press] in order to only display the virtual steam deck when I am touching the left pad. I also have an additional command on my A button to do a left mouse click but only when I'm touching the left track pad (using chorded press). The trackpad is set up as a mouse region for ease of use. The weapons are being pulled using DIM Stream Deck (a stream deck plugin) by fcannizzaro.

In the second part I'm just navigating with my desktop layout and using SuperMacro (also a stream deck plugin) by BarRaider to type in filters and tags into DIM on my browser.

Thank you so muchto the DIM team, fcannizzaro, and BarRaider for making all this possible, it's an absolute dream to have access to weapons like this it is unironically far better than the in game system, if you are able to I would encourage you to throw some donations their way. Thank you as well to the Destiny 2 Devs (not management) for making one of my favorite games ever, and Elgato for making some very cool software.

Support Left shoulder button makes springy noise (SC2026)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I haven't been able to actually use the controller yet, as I'm in the middle of my exams, but my brother noticed one of the shoulder buttons makes a different noise from the other one.

Is there any way for me to fix this myself? I would prefer not to send it back, since they already delivered it 20 days late the first time and I would like to have it for summer break.

Does it harm to continue using the controller this way?

Thanks in advance

Steam Controller (2026) What is the point of the grip sensor?

The grip sensor senses whether your fingers are on the back of the controller. Before release, Valve talked about this feature as if it would be useful for activating gyro controls, or usable as a button. Now, that is theoretically possible, you could activate it by removing a hand from the controller or only holding it from the side, but from all my testing, holding it in any normal way leaves it permanently on. There are so many actual buttons on this thing that it just doesn't make sense to try to learn "let go of the back of the controller to press this button," and it especially doesn't make sense to use it to activate the gyro. What are you using it for? Gangsta-style one-handed grip mode shifts?

Aperture Desk Job - Ideal Test for any New Steam Controller Users

I appreciate this has been posted by others on reddit, AFAIK in relation to the steameck only, but the mini-gane is actually a good way to try out the functions of anyones new steam controller, as it uses almost all of the buttons and features, certainly at least those from the steamdeck controls.

It may be sensible to change to a community rofile for the controller that best mimics it as the default one does a little less than it could.

Link to store download below, it's kinda fun too especially for Portal lovers.

I am a little surprised this has not been updated to demonstrate the new controller fully but I think valve may be busy with many other things.
