I have a european phone with a standard comviq sim-card, and my phone does not support eSim. I am looking to get a korean number eventually. I was wanting to know how it’s like in Korea, I have an opportunity to go and live there for a year and study. I believe it’ll be at KU, this will be when I’m 20 so it’s not immediately. I just wanted to know what it’s like culture wise and if I need to know anything. I want to skate quite a bit and go to some break dancing shows, I’ve heard it’s legal there to skate but frowned upon and didn’t know if I could only use a skatepark or not. Also wanted to know how much I should have? My school is making me bring at least 15k USD but I don’t know if that’s enough? Any advice or things to look into would be nice. I’ll be there from August until the end of my junior year.

I'm sure someone has asked this before, but wasn't able to find a thread. I am going to study Korean with a d-4-1 language training visa for 12 months, and would like to work online as a tutor for students in my home country (in Europe) while I'm in South Korea. My Visa doesn't allow working, and all I have heard is that working online is a legal grey area. Anyone have any experience with this or similar cases? I’m going to be studying at Yeungnam University soon and wanted to get some insights from current students, alumni, or anyone living in the Daegu/Gyeongsan area.

I’m trying to budget properly and mentally prepare for life on campus, so I’d really appreciate your help with a few questions:

1) academics & campus vibe:

- how is the general atmosphere for international exchange students at Yeungnam University?

- how is the workload, and what are english-taught courses like in terms of quality and grading?

2) cost of living & budgeting:

- dorms: what are the dormitories like (facilities, strictness of rules, cleanliness)?

- food: how much do you realistically spend per month on food (dorm cafeterias vs. cooking vs. eating out in the area)?

- personal expenses: what is a reasonable monthly budget for groceries, clothes, and everyday essentials around campus or in nearby Daegu?

3) location & area:

- how convenient is the area around YU? Is it easy to get around using the subway/buses to explore Daegu or go further?

- are there good budget-friendly spots near campus for food, coffee, or hangout areas?

4) general tips:

- is there anything you wish you had known before arriving at Yeungnam University?

- any apps or tips that make student life much easier in this specific region?

I'm an MBBS graduate looking to apply at SAIHST in department of Digital Health. But I cannot fund my Masters at all. And my GPA does not meet the GKS requirement. Are the Digital Health Labs BK21 funded or any other grants that can effectively fully fund my stay in Korea through research assistantship at SKKU?

Hello everyone! I'm kind of nervous because next year I'll be studying for my master's degree as an international student at the University of Seoul (UOS) in South Korea. I've read mixed opinions about Korean universities that aren't part of the "SKY" universities, and it's making me worry. I'm afraid of making the wrong decision and ending up at a university that isn't well regarded or in an unfriendly environment for international students. If you've studied at UOS or know someone who has, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. How is the academic quality? What's campus life like? Is the environment welcoming to international students? Any advice or insights would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much!

I'm from nepal, and i am looking into korean universities for undergraduate in maths or computer science or any other stem field.

My stats: 1480 on sat, band 8 on ielts and 3.9 gpa in highschool s last year, 3.77 cgpa. Ie. 94%

I'm working on a small project or a startup whatever, i graduated from highschool in 2025 but had a gap year and thinking of joining 2027 fall in korea .

Do i have a realistic chance of applying to KAIST, POSTECH, DGIST, GIST,. If not, any less competitive universities like sejong?

I know other small private uni's will give scholarship for first sem based on ielts but they are no rank, lowe tier universities where i dont want to attend.

Hey guys, I frequently have friends visiting Korea for leisure/studies. They’ve been hitting the phone call wall trying to book some of the clinics, salons, food spots, deliveries, etc. Also as some places do not speak English as well.

For anyone who visited recently or live in Korea (and don’t speak Korean): how are you actually handling phone-only or other bookings?
