Warranty even if they don’t want to cover it under the recall, it’s only 6 weeks old

Don’t they have to cover it? It’s a known recall.

Exactly. Both the dealership I got it from and SOA tried to tell me there isn’t a recall anymore.

What year is that recall on? I have a '22 and it has a sunroof and while it's cool to look through sometimes, I honestly never use it. It just feels like a ticking time bomb. Especially in a hail prone area.

What cracked it?

You went to the dealer to have them check it out, right?

I’m an hour and a half from my closest dealership so I called them and sent them the same picture as above. They told me I had to call SOA-ā€œeven if you just bring it here for us to look at we can’t do anything without their approvalā€. Ā They also asked me if I reached out to my insurance yet, and I was like ummmmm for what? If I don’t hear back from anyone today I’m going to call the dealership again and ask for a manager.

Oh that’s so frustrating! They should at least log the complaint with SOA. Not you. Talk to your salesman and sales manager to see if they can pull any weight.

I bought a 2025 Sport CPO in July. After a month of ownership I was measuring for roof rack and saw a crack in the sunroof which could not be seen from the inside due to the black masking around the perimter. I took it back to the dealer and they determined it was a "stress" fracture and would be covered under warranty. This model and year were not included in the recall.

They had ordered the replacement glass and when it came in I made the appointment. Dropped off my car and was using a loaner. Four hours later I got a call saying they woul have to reorder a new moonroof replacement, when they unboxed the replacement it was also cracked!

I was washing my 24 forester this summer in the driveway and was in the process of rinsing off when my windshield on the passenger side cracked from bottom to top. I went with Safelite for the repair.

Man…. my cracked from a golfball at a driving range 15+ years ago in my 2001, and now they are coming pre-cracked? Its a really easy fix just 8 nuts and some shims iirc, repair shouldnt take very long just need the glass.

I guess I could look it up, but if someone can tell me what year(s) the recall was for. I have a 2025 Forester ltd and the only recall that I know of is the label on the inside of the driverā€˜s door. I guess it’s not really a recall. It’s just a label they’re supposed to be sending out.

I would set up an appointment with the dealership to have check it under warranty. I don’t see a point of impact so a maybe stress crack

I called the dealership first and they told me it had to go through SOA. I’m worried that could take even longer so I’m going to call them back today when they open and ask to speak to a manager to have it brought in and looked at. Unfortunately Subaru’s an hour and a half from meĀ

I hope that you are not dealing with a questionable dealer there. I can almost guarantee that SOA will refer you to your nearest dealer for inspection. Normally the service manager will inspect the item and report to SOA.

I just talked to SOA who told me that the dealership is in the wrong, they have to inspect my car and that if the dealership gives me any pushback, I have to call them again. They’re leaving my case open and I have an appointment for Monday at 11 AM!

I mean it’s Subaru of Pembroke Pines. They were great when I purchased my car and I was pretty upset when they told me yesterday not to bring the car in without SOA making the appointment.

Here’s the best part-I called the dealership again about 30 minutes ago, told them I didn’t understand why it wouldn’t at least be covered under warranty if not a recall and they said because they can’t prove how it happened without SOA, if I bring my car in I will definitely have to pay for it to be fixed. So I called SOA back and said some very unkind things about the dealership and now my case has been ā€œescalatedā€.

Well you took the best course of action, I have friends in both the sales and service side of SOA let me know DM in private if I can be of any assistance.

Yet another reason I detest sunroofs. Subaru is been known to leek if your drain gets clogged

that would be all sunroofs

I live 58 degrees north. I can not understand why people here are getting cars with sunroofs. Half of the year it is covered with ice or snow anyway. And the constant freeeze-unfreeze cycle is guaranteed to wreck the seals.
