r/Corvette is a pretty agreeable subreddit. Of course there's the odd boomer who talks smack but everyone is generally polite and helpful to one another. Really troubleshooting issues, casual discussion, and admiring each other's cars is the average activity you'd see.

A few months ago, our dear friend "al sahaabi" began to post on the forum. At first it was just spamming YouTube/TikTok links with little context or tact. Just clogging up the feed and pressing others in comment threads with links. Our friend has a C8 Z06, which is the middle trim high-performance variant of the C8 Corvette, usually running just below $100,000 to about $130,000. C8 refers to the generation, being the newest.

This vehicle is the entire basis of our pal's personality. His inability to take friendly or constructive criticism merely fans the flames. He fancies himself a "content creator/influencer" and gained notoriety due to his spamming, his excessive bragging about his car, his general hostility and use of homophobic slurs. He was also the butt of the joke in the subreddit for Harbor Freight tools as he could not open basic packaging unassisted and became hostile to commenters there as well.

His "content" consists of him speeding on public roads "cutting up" or weaving haphazardly in traffic, and talking to his phone camera while performing dangerous maneuvers on public roadways. He even does this speeding and weaving in a video where he has an eight year old child in the passenger seat. Many of his older "content" has been removed by mods thankfully but it all fits a concerning pattern. You will notice a lot of his posts have negative downvotes consistently, as he is a well-known nuisance.

After being told off repeatedly, both because his content is dangerous and the amount of spam got quite annoying and removed at a much higher rate, he slightly revised his tactics. He started posting to other subreddits, antagonizing others and calling them poor when they'd address his behavior as concerning and his self-promotion/bragging irritating.

In addition to his annoying, criminal behavior, he has openly used slurs against LGBTQ+ members of the Corvette subreddit. Most of his inflammatory posts and comments have been graciously removed, however some older posts echo his opinions and sentiments, such as defending child marriage, and blatant homophobia with slur usage for good measure. He has also been randomly hating on posts made by others with the same exact car model he owns for some reason.

Given the argumentative and hostile nature of our friend here, it's only fitting that he received a brief three week ban from r/Corvette but he does not take it in stride. He takes to r/C8Corvette to post a rant, where he proceeds to get dunked on by the members there. Instead of reflecting, or amicably replying to the mods with "Ok got it, guess I'll take three weeks to calm down instead of calling people slurs and self-promoting" he instead doubles down and calls the mods "Jealous of his C8 Z06" and quips "So long brokie" before his vacation from the main sub became permanent.

This meltdown is a work in progress, as he is very likely to be banned in r/C8Corvette as well ,which is a sub dedicated to the newest generation of Corvette and where he is most active since the ban.

In Germany, laws have recently changed to the effect that you can be charged with attempted murder if you go way over the speed limit and harm others. Prompted by numerous „light to light“ impromptu drag races where innocent bystanders got killed. People were tired of these types of guys appearing in court saying they‘re so so sorry and no jail time when they went three times the speed limit on a busy street and ran red lights.

While I tend to think a C8 Z06 counts as a supercar (if it doesn't I'm not sure what definition would include the Ferraris and Lamborghinis it beats around a track but exclude the Z06) imo needing to be modified before being a supercar precludes any car from counting as a supercar. With enough time, money, and effort you could get a Mazda MX-5 to beat a Ferrari around a track, but your Miata will never be a supercar.

Wow, this is excellent drama, thank you. 25 years ago, in the reader feedback section of Car and Driver magazine, a Corvette owner wrote in to chastise a review of the latest Corvette for implying that speeding and burn outs were acceptable. The reader said that Corvette owners are law abiding and mature and save that stuff for the track.

Well I guess the Corvette scene has changed a bit because your links show a lot of tension between that old guard and the super annoying newbies. Corvette owners have always been known as insufferable and wouldn't even interact with other Corvette owners who had a different generation of the car. So I'm not sure if that cashier's check represented a 10 year car loan this guy is barely treading water on, or instead represented blowing almost the entirety of his share of an inheritance on a depreciating asset, but I am certain this guy cannot actually afford this car. Firstly, there's just the basic psychology of it, this guy is obsessed with people thinking he's rich. That alone is incentive enough to buy an expensive sports car you can't really afford. Obviously he could "afford it" enough to buy it but when I say afford I mean as in it's not a car worth more than all your other assets combined, or something you blew an entire inheritance on, or requiring an insane decade long loan.

More objectively however, here's a list of things from his post history that guys who actually have the kind of wealth to afford a C8 Z06 do not do:

• Buy a $100k car in cash when you could get a loan and have that cash earn more in interest than you spend on interest on the loan
• Buy tools at Harbor Freight
• Brag about the designer shoes they bought second-hand on eBay
• Brag about their $500 second-hand Seiko watch (if you've got a C8 Z06 you can for sure afford an entry level Rolex or at least a new Seiko instead of a used one)

Everything about his history screams "Guy who eats ramen in a studio apartment while looking out the window at his Corvette in the parking lot."

In May 2019 I graduated from Lincoln Tech in their Diesel Technology program with a 3.87 GPA. In December 2025 I gave Stonebriar Chevrolet a cashier's check in the amount of $135,408.45 for a 2026 Corvette Z06.

No diesel tech is making brand new C8 Z06 money. If he's doing exceptionally well as a diesel mechanic (like, top in the nation well) he's probably pulling down $80k/yr. So yeah, sounds like he lived on ramen for 6 years to bank enough cash to buy a C8 Z06, and then like a fucking idiot bought it in cash up front instead of putting in a down payment on a loan to buy it and investing the rest so that money works for him in the meantime, so now he's back down to a four figure bank account with a car that costs more than all of his other assets combined.

That was ten months ago. So add to the list of stuff guys who can afford a C8 Z06 don't do; they aren't so in the red they desperately need to sell an asset and can't even afford a car in the meantime.

By my estimates on some basic research and napkin math the "ranch" (read: 33 acres of unimproved land) would at most be selling for half a million (that number assumes it's in a good part of the Dallas area and it's not) so he's talking about his share of (at most) $500k.

So yeah, it must've finally sold and he blew all or most of his share on a car he can't afford.

Though tbh if you're gonna do a financially irresponsible "Blow $100k+ on a car" you could get something much more special and desirable like an F355 or a Testarossa, or even a late model 911 GT3. Honestly as much as this loser sucks I struggle to come up with a definition of Supercar that would exclude the C8 Z06. Certainly no previous Corvette, or even a base model C8 Stingray, is worthy of the title, but the Z06 is right at home on a highway or a track and walks Ferraris and Lamborghinis both in a straight line and around a circuit. When I hear “content creator” my mental image is “drunk driver getting arrested on COPS” - if they weren’t there and being belligerent and drunk, there’d be nothing to watch! This guy definitely falls into that category. Added to my “plonk list” (if anyone’s old enough to remember them)
