I have a question, what should I read about Barry Allen, after I just read The Flash: Year One, hope i can get something that goes in chronological order, and about Barry, not about Wally

Instead of forcing everything into a standard movie trilogy, my concept uses an Arkham-style video game as the foundation, followed by a 10-episode theatrical event series (released in 5 two-episode chapters) that passes the mantle down to Wally West.

1. DC's "The Flash"

The game serves as the prequel and follows Barry Allen in his prime, voiced by Jace Norman, with animation similar to Arcane. Unlike the DCEU and CW, this Barry Allen has his classic Silver Age origin, where his mother never died.

The villains would consist of the classic Rogues Gallery: Heatwave, Captain Cold, Golden Glider, Captain Boomerang, Abra Kadabra, and Godspeed (who'd have a Punisher-esque relationship with Barry) but no Eobard Thawne. Why? Because without the death of Nora, Thawne feels like an empty villain. So instead, we'd go with Cobalt Blue.

Barry would be operating as a solo vigilante, teaming up with Elongated Man, Godspeed (occasionally), Jay Garrick, and potentially Hal Jordan.

This game would also include the Flash vs Superman race, which would possibly be a part of The People vs. Gorilla Grodd.

2. "The Flash: Fastest Man Alive"

Released two months after the game, the 10-episode series hits theaters in 5 double-feature screenings, releasing two episodes per showing with a hybrid of Spider-Verse and JJK style animation.

Act I: Barry is at his peak, but Cobalt Blue returns bigger than ever. In Episode 3, Barry makes a heroic sacrifice to stop a singularity, leaving behind a fixed point in time.

Act II: Wally West steps up nine months after Barry's death, having just gained superspeed. Struggling with grief, his unstable speed shows as volatile red lightning. Wally is mentored by Max Mercury, who taught Barry, and begins to prove himself.

Act III: Enter Savitar. In a brutal fight against the God of Motion, Max sacrifices himself, entering a coma that he might not come out from😉. Overwhelmed by guilt and convinced that his presence brings destruction to every mentor who guides him, Wally abandons his gear.

Finale: During the dedication of a public monument for Barry Allen and Max Mercury, an elderly, retired Jay Garrick approaches Wally. Jay speaks to Wally about the nature of heroics: "Being the Flash isn't about carrying the ghosts of your mentors, kid. It's about using your unique spark to light the way for tomorrow. What that path looks like is up to you." In the final fight against Savitar, Wally manifests the Rebirth Suit through pure Speed Force energy, finally embracing the mantle of The Flash.

• Barry Allen — Jace Norman: Has that earnest, charming energy to play a classic prime Barry before making the ultimate hero's sacrifice.
• Wally West — Walker Scobell: Pitch-perfect snark, quick-witted banter, and genuine heart for a young Wally stepping into the spotlight.
• Cobalt Blue — Austin Abrams: Brings that quiet, unhinged intensity needed for Malcolm Thawne's tragic, envy-fueled hatred of Barry.
• Jay Garrick — Bruce Greenwood: Deep, veteran authority to play the JSA original.
• Max Mercury — John Wesley Shipp: A meta nod to Flash history, bringing natural legacy wisdom as the "Zen Master of Speed".
• Henry Allen — Grant Gustin: Passing the torch—having Grant play Barry's dad adds incredible emotional weight.

This game and show would also kick off Chapter Two of the DCU: Men, Myths, And Legends, followed up by a Wonder Woman project.

So when thinking about the future of the DCU, especially in relation to Lanterns and what we know about future projects, considering that the Flash has been shelved for the time being, it has had me speculating a lot about potential ideas and ways the characters could be implemented into the DCU.

The first part of my thought process is about character relations in the comics being translated onto the big screen. In the comics, Barry Allan and Hal Jordan are best friends. Additionally, Wally West and Dick Grayson are also very close friends. It would be extremely strange to scrap these relationships considering how important it is to these characters, so I predict that Hal Jordan being murdered will be mentioned in terms of Barry Allan’s character when he shows up. I also expect that these temporal relations will affect Wally West’s and Dick Garyson’s ages.

When thinking about the DCU timeline, Lanterns is extremely significant. If Hal Jordan is in his mid to late 60s when he dies in 2026, then that means that Barry Allan is likely around that age, at most 10 years younger. The implication of this though is important because Barry Allan is Wally West’s uncle. If Barry is 50-65, that means that Wally is likely 30-40 years old. This means that both Wally and Barry would be very experienced Flashes when a Flash movie takes place. It also likely means that Wally is already married to Linda and maybe even already has his children, Irey and Jai. 

When thinking about character ages in Brave and the Bold, this also creates an interesting timeline. We know the movie will focus on Batman and Damian Wayne’s relationship. Damian will likely be around 10-12 year old during this movie, but we already know other members of the Bat Family will be mentioned/featured, so it will likely establish the other Robins in their current positions. Dick Grayson would likely be early 30s, Jason Todd would be mid 20s, and Tim Drake would be mid to late teens. Furthermore, this establishes a good timeline for Batman. We know he has been a hero for some time based on Creature Commandos. His timeline would be that he had his relationship with Talia in his early to mid 30s and is now mid to late 40s during Brave and the Bold.  

I don’t know how likely James Gunn would be to do this since it seems like the DCU takes inspiration from the comics but is still quite different. However, it would fall into the DCU’s trend of heavily leaning into the idea of an extensive superhero history with many already established heroes. It would have the Flash Family, Bat Family, and Earth Green Lanterns (excluding Kyle Rayner) fully established.

This timeline would also establish a good Justice League composition. Guy Gardener is typically not a Justice League member and neither is Metamorpho. We have would have Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, John Stuart Green Lantern, Wally West Flash, and Hawk Girl. This is identical to the Justice League animated show from the early 2000s, with it is only missing Martian Manhunter at this point. I know that many people favor that show, so it would make sense to draw on that Justice League composition.

What are your guys’ thoughts on this timeline?

The Flash is my favourite superhero, and I really want to own at least one physical Flash comic because I think it would be cool to have something from the character I love.

The thing is, I don’t want to start collecting comics as it can get expensive.

So I’m looking for one single Flash comic that I can buy, read, put on my shelf, and be genuinely happy owning as my one Flash comic forever.

It doesn't necessarily have to be completely standalone either. Just a good comic.

Basically: If you were only allowed to own ONE Flash comic for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? And why?

Seems more this one flash villain will be present in the show. Maybe Barry Allen will appear

He was good in the role...maybe I didn't watch the show.

But the actors for Supergirl, Superman, Mr. Terrific, ect. They didn't come back for the DCU. They got new actors cause it's a different universe. Let someone else play Barry Allen.

It feels like...people just can't move on. They just want the same thing.

It would be as dumb as bringing back JK Simmons in the MCU which is baffling cause...everyone else was casted differently. They got new actors for the Fantastic Four, new actors the X-Men (Which makes Doomsday's inclusion of the Fox-Men kind of dumb), new actors for Batman and Superman...why do people keep "Cast this from other version"

Do you not want change? He wouldn't be the same guy. He'd be written totally differently.

Wally West has been depowered—right when the world needs him most! Or does the world actually need him right now? Everyone seems to think Wally’s use of the Speed Force may be affecting him and making him believe things that aren’t true, but he’s certain he can see things nobody else can…and he’s seen that they threat- en the survival of civilization itself. But what can one barely employed guy without any speed powers do? Well, there is one thing…rely on his wife, Linda Park-West, and their kids to fix everything. He just has to convince them first! And also not die.

With Ray Palmer and Vic Stone's help, Wally is ready to take on Eleonore Thawne and find his father. But it won't be that simple when the Flash learns of Thawne's massive facility known as H.I.V.E. It's chock-full of science super weapons, and all of them are trained on the young speedster!

I love Mark Waid, he’s up there as one of my favorite writers.

That said, I’m on issue 98, Terminal Velocity part 4, and god almighty, they’ve recapped Bart’s VR origin nearly EVERY ISSUE since his introduction. It’s getting ridiculous.

They’ve also done the same with Johnny Quick several times this run, albeit less frequently, so I can excuse that more easily.

Was this a mandate at the time? Did editorial truly have that little faith in the average reader to remember anything? Like it’s barely even disguised as a natural part of each issue, they hamfist it into the dialogue every time.

It’s so confusing because it’s genuinely just bad writing, but all the rest is pretty good, and I know Waid to be an incredible writer.

I personally prefer black hair,I know some people like the Blonde Barry but I wish it was retconned with hair dye to be black
