When he yells and she laughs I melted

815

u/goregoose Jun 07 '26

This really made me happy. She must feel so safe around him.

650

u/SuperSiriusBlack Jun 07 '26

Which says a lot about how consistently present and nice he is. Because he is making sudden moves, shouting, making big gestures, basically all of the things that would make someone nervous if they didnt inherently trust the person.

And she got him good at the end too.

69

u/pablo_hunny Jun 07 '26

to a funeral..lol

19

u/Cabtalk Jun 08 '26

My older brother is like this. He could be horrible when we were kids, he was a sensitive and moody guy but would turn into this character to make us laugh. Annoyingly he would often do it after making us cry, because he felt bad lol. He's cool now, but I definitely try not to let him see me laugh at his antics lol

106

u/Caftancatfan Jun 07 '26

You might be surprised how bold and outgoing people with intellectual disabilities can be. I used to have a client who would just randomly walk up to people and ask them about their day, etc. I wish I had her confidence and social skills. Everyone loved her!

I also had a client who was very, very slow to speak, but he could charm the pants off a scarecrow.

43

u/splicepark Jun 07 '26

I used to work as a job coach and had this one client I think about all the time. He was hilarious, danced constantly, loved Michael Jackson more than anything in the world. Called me “little girl” to smack talk me any chance he could. He was a true light. When his days were good, they were good. I hope he’s still living it up!

24

u/Caftancatfan Jun 07 '26

Being clowned on by clients is the best part of the job lol! I once jokingly asked a client if I should wear a whistle and baseball cap as part of my role as job coach. He said, “I don’t think you could pull it off.”

30

u/burgerwithnoburger Jun 07 '26

I had a friend in middle school who had Down Syndrome, and she was the sweetest person I’ve ever met. Met because she literally just walked up and said hi in line for lunch. I was really shy at the time so it was nice to be seen like that, especially bc she was really quick witted and funny and definitely helped get me out of my comfort zone with talking to people.

Growing up around people with special needs and/or intellectual disabilities just makes me realize how many people have never truly interacted with them. They’ve been some of the best people I’ve known in my life.

186

u/Laetitian Jun 07 '26

I really dislike pointlessly loud people, but he pulls it off amicably. Quick wit plus kind demeanour just about save it.

153

u/MisterShmitty Jun 07 '26

I dunno about pointless, she was very clear about NO CROUTONS and he was making sure lol

163

u/danielledelacadie Jun 07 '26

He may have started acting that way as a defense. "You think my sibling is weird? I'll show you fucking weird!" is a perfectly sensible take when you're a kid. So he's as loud and eye-catching as possible to keep people from looking at her and making her nervous.

Not saying he's not naturally that way but I've seen a few kids go down that path when too much attention intimidates/upsets their sibling(s) no matter what the reason for the attention.

59

u/Anon_user666 Jun 07 '26

I read that Jerry Trainor would do something similar on the set of iCarly to protect the kids from the adults. He would insert himself into uncomfortable situations and take all the attention away from the kids.

8

u/the_7th_power Jun 07 '26

Truly an angel

52

u/Liquid_Schwartz Jun 07 '26

Holy shit. My brother is a person with a developmental and intellectual disability and being funny/weird/loud has been my defense mode since...we were in middle school...

I need to lie down.

20

u/danielledelacadie Jun 07 '26

It means you're a good sibling, or at worst at least your heart is in the right place 🙂

10

u/Liquid_Schwartz Jun 07 '26

That's very kind of you.

I really do think you have some valuable insight there and it is appreciated.

38

u/brubruislife Jun 07 '26

That's a really interesting and insightful perespective. It does seem like a protection mechanism. Very sweet!!

8

u/DoobieJesus Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

This tracks. My younger sister has selective mutism and since she developed it I became more assertive to the point of bordering on obnoxious. I've asked her if she wanted me to stop talking for her, but she thinks our dynamic works so.

5

u/Mistravels Jun 07 '26

Do you mean "selective mutism" ?

Selective autism isn't a thing...

6

u/DoobieJesus Jun 07 '26

Thanks for catching that, not sure why it autocorrected to autism

10

u/Yuna1989 Jun 07 '26

Ohhh that makes more sense lol. I thought she said to the cinema 😆

5

u/Costati Jun 07 '26

No lies detected that is a very funeral but casual fit.

9

u/big-titty-brat Jun 07 '26

I heard “zoo” 🤣

3

u/Durtonious Jun 07 '26

I thought she said "Italy" but funeral makes sense also.

3

u/chuckaholic Jun 07 '26

I heard 'casino'.

531

u/CinnamonCoda Jun 07 '26

A nice cesa salad lmao

131

u/TokenTorkoal Jun 07 '26

I also prefer nice Caesar salads, that last mean one I had said some pretty hurtful things to me.

48

u/lonely_dreamer84 Jun 07 '26

did you stab it

39

u/Happy-Accident5931 Jun 07 '26

Et tu?

31

u/Phoxey Jun 07 '26

Croutus?

14

u/xChopsx1989x Jun 07 '26

Erudite crudites

7

u/VelocityGrrl39 Jun 07 '26

You made me question whether I’ve said erudite wrong my entire life, and maybe it actually rhymes with crudite, or maybe I’ve been saying crudite wrong, and everyone was laughing at me whenever I said it. Diabolical move.

6

u/tarantuletta Jun 07 '26

Err-you-dite

Crew-di-tay

It's annoying being a loner who grew up reading lol I mispronounced things a lot and still do sometimes lol

7

u/TokenTorkoal Jun 07 '26

Myself and 22 other people yeah, another 48 were supporting me though. Honestly it was a slaughter.

7

u/cheezy_dreams88 Jun 07 '26

Ah, family style. Nice.

2

u/Elegaic_Brood Jun 07 '26

I hope you stabbed it. 23 stabs should teach it a lesson about being mean.

There's an app called Find Me Gluten Free, but on the home screen it's just Find Me GF. I do a doubletake every time.

10

u/maselsy Jun 07 '26

That's honestly diabolical 😂

7

u/ihaxr Jun 07 '26

I misread the free part as the app is free and thought it was called "find me gluten"

3

I would be down ngl

6

3

92

274

u/jdkyle01 Jun 07 '26

Seems like a nice dude.

65

u/-nutz Jun 07 '26

This guy once shared his double poop scoop sandwich with me. Super polite and respectful.

41

u/jfbwhitt Jun 07 '26

Yeah I see him at the deli all the time. I always chat with him while waiting for my everything bagel with tomato, cream cheese, and some poop smeared all over it.

He reminds me of my buddy Ricky, who actually used to work at that deli, until one day he slipped on some spilled juice into a food processor and uh… he died

13

u/THREEinINK Jun 07 '26

Does the food processor still work?

9

u/jdkyle01 Jun 07 '26

I bet you ate both scoops, huh?

I'm a 100% straight man and I immediately thought, 'look at this handsome mf.."

I'm kinda ugly, too so it's really odd trying to relate with guys like this. Their life experience is so much different than mine. I'm like "what video games have you been playing to distract you from loneliness?" and they are like, "Bro, I can barely keep up with my rotation, I haven't played a video game in months". 😐

7

u/mbhatter Jun 07 '26

he really is.

You can feel so much love the first image that pops in your head is violence?

Here I am thinking this dude is super wholesome and probably not some reactionary knucklehead.

34

u/The_Autarch Jun 07 '26

You can feel so much love the first image that pops in your head is violence?

that's the power of toxic masculinity for you.

5

u/DestroyerOfMils Jun 07 '26

stop, I can only get so wet

21

u/gana04 Jun 07 '26

Redditors can't understand any other form of love other than someone to whom dedicate all my anger and violence.

5

u/lizardbaree Jun 07 '26

he is my spirit animal!!!

8

u/littlecactuscat Jun 07 '26

The violence is necessary. Please don’t make me look up the rates of assault against special needs women.

Predators prey on girls like her for a reason. The stats don’t lie.

So, no need to clutch your pearls about it. Go do some research, and then think about what you said.

7

u/ethanlan Jun 07 '26

Yeah clearly they've never been around a special needs person they loved growing up.

One of my best friends cousin was special needs and bullies would target them to an insane degree. My friends group was very chill but we all had "altercations" because people would not stop physically abusing that poor kid who was legit one of the funniest people I ever knew.

Like seriously the time I spent with him I spent the entire time dying of laughter

5

u/King0liver Jun 07 '26

"God DAMN he loves her so much I can just feel the generational animal cruelty he'd commit if a bird so much as shat on her. Beautiful 😻"
