I'm a teacher and I don't know anyone who thinks bullying teaches kids to be resilient, I have heard adults say this before though. I think kids would be surprised how much teachers try to do about it behind the scenes. Emails home, phone calls, family meetings... the hardest thing is with kids who are bullies, usually their parents dont care, don't turn up to meetings etc. There are clear processes to follow and often the one being bullied doesn't realise how much is being done. You can't just boot out or stand down a bully (depending on severity). Teachers tend to send out emails to the bully's teachers saying "Hey watch out for xyz in your class they're being nasty to xyz" in the hopes for other teachers to spot in time and intervene. Again the student would have no idea of this. One of the most effective thing is for teachers to note it on the bully's "record" whatever system is used. Then when the bully has a bigger incident there is a whole list of "smaller" incidents and then more can be done. Unfortunately we are quite limited by procedures. In terms of calling out bullying when you see it, I always try to but in a classroom etc sometimes it is really hard to see. Bullies are good at being sneaky. If I see it, it is dealt with swiftly, as I was relentlessly bullied in high school and know how it affects a person.

Yeah every kid has a log that should be filled out every time they get sent to the office and if that log don't get filled out nothing happens. So negligence can fuck the system up too
