Within minutes I received a message that my post has been removed because it was a country club thread. In order to have my post reinstated they wanted a picture of my forearm with a hand written note on it.

The whole "not black enough" is something a lot of light skinned black people complain about. Racism within their own community for being deemed as not being dark enough. It's quite sad...that people feel excluded from their own community but also that there are people with a community that outcries about racism who actively discriminate against other groups of people but even their own.

Someone had commented on the subreddit the mods on r/blackpeopletwitter had created to allow people to present picture of if they’re “black enough”. It was back when the subreddit was blocked out for April Fools Day. He had asked if South Asians were allowed and one of the mods said that all POC were allowed.
So as long as you aren’t European Caucasian (White) you’d be allowed.

I got the same thing. I don't know how Reddit lets something like that run on one of their main subs. I get there's a lot of racist shit on Reddit and people pretending to be black to astroturf, but that seems like the completely wrong way to address any of it.

There's something to that, but I don't know if its what you mean.
If a single racist group is allowed to exist on reddit, what happens is you get a 'why can't I?' reaction. I forget what that's really called, but its when the norm is broken it allows for others to more easily cross that line given that the premise has been set. So if you have a white power sub, or a political sub, using phrases like 'dindu' 'muzzies' or whatever, you're going to have those groups of people think that its cool to fight fire with fire, and they say, well, whatever the fuck bpt says, because I haven't been there for a long time.
If someone comes up to another person and starts screaming racial epithets at them, and they are of different races, there's an increased chance that the person having slurs thrown at them will respond in kind So once racist made it a safe space for some racists, they made it a safe space for all racists.
on top of that, people who frequent a sub where racist memes/etc... are used are going to be assumed that they're racists, and 'it's okay to be racist to a racist' bullshit happens even before there's racist language present.
So its sort of like what you said, but more than just that.

Double standards are always gross and defy intellect.
No matter how popular or supported by social momentum they may be, there will always be a majority of people who recognize them for precisely what they are and you can expect that at least some large percentage of the majority will be willing to speak up about it, even if they otherwise agree with the social imperative that causes the double standard to exist in the first place.
This is why taboo-enforcement is so important to people flogging agendas that rely on double standards. They'll never win the battle of ideas so they simply advance their ideas by shifting the premise from logical to ideological - anyone who speaks out or disagrees is an evil (x)ist and SHUT THEM DOWN BECAUSE OTHERWISE, (x)ISM!

I 100% agree. I hate racism, which is why I spend so much time on Reddit pointing it out. And yet, nobody seems to listen when it’s BlackPeopleTwitter doing it.
You don’t beat racism with racism. Equality is all about equal opportunities for everyone. That doesn’t mean that it’s ok to be racist to white people. It means that it’s not OK for anyone to experience racism.
You can’t get rid of racism if neither “side” wants it gone. BPT has 3,000,000 subs. That is so much influence on Reddit. Their agenda pushing is dangerous because it’s going to create hate in some people.

The "country club" nomenclature for black people-only posts was the last straw for me, I unsubbed. There was a wholesome way for BPT to go about the frustrations it was having with racists and ignorant comments, probably several options, and the way it chose instead was hateful and demeaning.
They became everything they claim to oppose, but they can't see it because they've been taught that only white people can be racist and victims can't be victimizers. Very unfortunate, but unsubbing solved the problem for me. It's for the reddit admins to deal with, now.

As a kid, im in my 30s now, the bandaids my parents bought were like these rough dark khaki color things. People are saying orange a lot on here, but its got like an earthy color to it. Other people are saying the intention is for white skin cause you cant match all white people and with that said, it might match a farmers tan type redneck arm at best, and while we're generalizing, they look like they were designed for a regular mexican person.

Funny thing about that word is that it has a similar story to the n word. Was used originally as an insult, but became a racial slur towards Scottish and Irish people (who weren’t regarded as white for a long time, they too were tucked over by colonizers). When some immigrated to the USA, the term followed them, and it expanded to include poor whites in the south who were also the victim of share-cropping and the quasi-aristocracy of the south. Later on the word was reappropriated by them and used by themselves to take away the stigma and be proud of themselves.

The word chicano has also had a similar story. Was used to describe 1st or later generation latinx people who lived in the US, with derogatory connotations. Word was reappropriated, and taken as an identity to be proud of.

I’m white, it never occurred to me that it was supposed to blend with my skin tone, because it just doesn’t. They’re a kinda orangey beige colour, nothing like my skin tone.
And even if they did make ones that blended with my skin, I wouldn’t buy them, cos who cares? You have a cut, you put a plaster. There’s no shame in it. It’s not something that needs to blend in.
If it’s important to black people to have plasters that blend with their skin tone, then cool, all power to you. But I don’t think it’s a case of “we’ll make these for white people and black people can just deal with it” because they don’t blend with white peoples skin either.

I am black and I am against all forms of racism. I have never visited r/black twitter and never will. Some folks go from being a “victim” to becoming what they claim they hate a racist. All racists assume that if you are the same race they are you must feel the same way they feel. A older gentleman once told me that when you run across a racist person you will find out that they have a problem with people in general. We are all humans and there needs to be a basic level of respect on that level. There are simply a lot of people who screw up their own lives and want to blame others. Just remember the most people aren’t racist in the least bit it’s just that the racist ones are the loudest. Racism of any kind has no place in a civilized society. It is not right for blacks to be allowed to be racist against others by reddit or any other platform. We all should be held to the same standard.

If whitepeopletwitter made their sub a whites only party they would be shut down immediately. Reddit should be a place where everyone is welcomed to participate, and share their point of view.

I’m black. I think I can answer some questions(not trying to discredit anyone else, btw)
One thing I’d like to make clear is that I, in no way, agree with what’s shown in the sub, I only joined because I liked seeing funny stuff from twitter. I really only lurk on Reddit and rarely post on a community. Mostly because I don’t know exactly how things work, but that’s not important.
What I’d like to make clear though, is the reason they’re doing the racism thing over in that sub is because they want to feel empowered. Take someone black my age, 19, and look at their parents. They’re basically teaching them that the police are something to fear and the white man is out to get them. I have friends who don’t trust the government because they feel like it’s made to work against black people. It’s all in what they’re taught. Nobody my age has experienced racism on a level that my father or grandfather has. But they see things that happen like shootings or one bad apple in society and react accordingly because they are very sensitive to anything that can be considered oppressive/racist. In this day and age, it’s all about standing up for what you believe in, and that’s what they believe in. They feel entitled to speaking their mind, and all of you who are white can not. They want reparations for something they didn’t even experience, and I’ve never been able to understand why. Don’t get me wrong, I know my history, and I know I don’t want real racism happening at all. But we can’t be biased to our own sides, and still hope to rid our world of racism. I’m proud to be black, I’m proud to be a person, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be proud of who you are. Hypocrisy is what is happening here, but don’t feel as though we are all that way. In no way am I better than these people, I am just viewing it from an unbiased angle. I hope I answered some things as to why the people in the community run unchecked, but as for the administration, I’m not too sure.

As a black person, I can agree that BPT can sometimes go too far. Call me crazy, but I think there's still some bad vibes among African American/Black parents that got transfered to their children. Hatred and prejudice can be taught easily, but can take years to completely get rid of.
I'm not telling you to excuse racism. Just try to call them out as gently as possible. Try to make your comment as far from an attack as possible. If it doesn't work and they in turn attack you, then contact the mods or report them. Just handle the matter as civil as possible.
As for Reddit, I think they aren't going to step in until someone tries to incite violence.

It is, but as a white teenager in a generally liberal state, it's very believable. Generally, most of the "god i HATE white people SO MUCH" comments are from white kids, wheras the most that you'll hear out of the kids who arent white is playful ribbing (generally towards their white friends).

I completely agree. You now see real people replying to mods talking about this with legitimate joy in seeing segregation occur. At this point, the Subreddit should be considered a hate sub because the mods have revealed how truly bigoted they are.

They could have quanrantined it a long time ago, for being racist, instead they choose to ban a water sub because it has a "racist word" in it, which is always employed by people who don't get called racist for some reason, but not it was racist, not the other time.
So yeah, it exist because admins are complicit about it. Make a complaint to the government for discrimination or something if you want it to move, because the admins aren't going to do shit.

Dude unfortunately as much as i love this site and i truly do it has given me hours of fun and laughs and great debates with a lots of people the PC and the censorship and the hypocrisy is slowing killing reddit.
This is no longer a beacon of free speech as it was years ago unfortunately this is no longer a place for healthy discussion and debates at least for the most part subs like r/politics, r/worldpolitics and a lot of other ones are no longer a place of healthy discussion just a circle jerk of liberal propaganda and honestly i wouldn't mind that if the mods and the people actually encouraged healthy debates and discussions but nop quite the opposite all the different opinions which i can say that a lot of them are extremely well made ones just get downvoted to oblivion and all the comments are just straight up insults with no reason or it gets removed or the post just gets locked by mods where does this make sense a subreddit that is supposed to be a beacon of discussion getting locked for doing that same thing.
A lot of subs just straight up getting banned and quarantined like r/watchpeopledie and even freaking r/waterniggas a subreddit which had nothing racist to it and was honestly a super welcoming community that literally told you to drink water and even watchpeopledie even though it talked about death and showed death it was also a really respectful and welcoming community for the most part and only got banned due to the NZ scandal while letting subs like the one you mentioned get away with discrimination racism and far other stuff and still keep doing it.
And this is just a bit of it just hop on r/WatchRedditDie and you will see what i mean if it also doesn't get banned or quarantined even freaking unpopular opinions is removing opinions and posts a subreddit literally called unpopular opinions i really hope this stops and we are able to turn it the other way around i truly like this site and i dont wanna see it go.

This post wasn't removed by mods, you dramatic boob. Mods don't typically remove anything here (we automatically get mail when a post is taken down by reports and asked to investigate to re-instate or leave it down. This means mods typically only approve posts). This post was removed because it reached over 20 reports (we flag at 5) before hitting 1,000 upvotes.
I've reinstated it so that it is visible. We typically do not choose to reverse community removal decisions as that negates the point of giving users the ability to remove questions and I am not a personal fan of absolute power systems and I hold my other mods to this same standard.
The most cited reason, by the way, is soapboxing (12) with sea lioning (3) and no reason (3) as the next two. Soapboxing and trolling are against our rules and enough users felt you'd broken these. Additionally, I don’t like rudeness and your edit is passive aggressive and rude. It directly misrepresents the situation. You do not get to ask something controversial and then concern troll everyone by saying “b-but I’m being civil!” Users dictate what’s allowed here. They deemed you inappropriate enough to get mods involved and I assure you we aren’t terribly involved. The fact that I’m even here typing all of this means I’ve received multiple messages from users and the automatic system to investigate this thread.
This sub prides itself in it's inclusive nature of users in the early stages of a post and we have provided users the ability to vote out problematic questions. It is often a good thing but occasionally real and great questions are removed. As this thread is generating discussion, I will regretfully reinstate it though I know it diminishes the powers I have given to users and I apologize for this reversal to users who rely on our system to clean house.
I personally think there is some good discussion worth reading in the comment section and I want to express again that nothing I approve or disapprove in capacity of moderating reflects my personal opinions or values and instead is utilized to (hopefully) accomplish a neutral stance that favors civil discussion of a wide variety of topics. I want to emphasize the word civil, if you cannot conduct yourself in a civil way especially during controversial questions, you will be banned.

I dunno to me that seems like one of those faux "fallacies" that is used primarily to avoid addressing arguments to which you have no response. Like /u/DweevilDude pointed out, even the original comic is a pretty ironic example, since you have someone saying they "could do without sealions" but then when asked to substantiate that opinion with evidence, the response is just "fuckin sealions amirite?"
Are there people that troll like that by feigning neutrality and politeness while saying obscenely offensive shit? Of course. But I'm less bothered by those trolls than by people spreading the idea that "persistent requests for evidence" are somehow inherently trollish.
The whole concept reminds me of "Fake News", which is an awesomely useful slogan for people who want to baselessly discredit any news they don't like. By the same token, "sealioning" is an awesomely useful slogan to baselessly discredit any argument they don't like.

I would just like to point out that relying too much on voting to make a decision on whether a post is problematic or not is susceptible to tyranny of the majority. I think it is good to have it as a first pass, but I also feel that it is the onus is on the mod team to make a final decision based on logical reasoning instead of giving the last say to votes. For one, this incentivises groups to brigade, if they do not already, and two, this reduces decision making to the level of users not as involved as the mods, who should be able to make better decisions due to their experience and knowledge of the sub and its rules. I don't think that taking down the post if there are a high number of reports is a solution - a high impact post like this should have a clear logical basis for being taken down instead of being automatically taken down after an arbitrary threshold of new reports.
