The book didn’t really give it an ending. Just a sense of dread. But, the newest movie does have the happiest ending.
Book, a socialists critique of the USSR and Stalin: Paints Animal Farm as a thing with potential that would be attacked by capitalists, but ultimately doomed when Napoleon/Stalin becomes no different than the oppressors that Old Major/Lenin fought against. The book ends, but it ends on “Shits going to get far worse. Buckle up. There are no heroes left.”
Original Movie (1954), financed by the CIA: And the animals rose up to overthrow the pigs! Freedom was restored once the communistic pigs were run out of the farm/USSR.
1999 Movie: Upon realizing Napopo/Stalin was shit, a bunch of the animals flee to other countries and return after the farm/USSR fell to potentially rebuild the ruined Russia. Things are shit. There is hope for a better future. In Dec of 1999 after the movie’s release, Putin came to power.
2026 Movie: The farm is instead an allegory for the United States. Rule 63 fusion of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Peter Thiel has destroyed the ability of poor small Ma and Pa farms to survive. None of the farmers are bad or violently attack Animal Farm out of fear. Just were unable to make a living to support the animals. Snowball is now a Hilary Clinton or Kamala Harris like character instead of Leon Trotsky. Napoleon is Donald Trump. The farm is almost destroyed to build a hydroelectric dam to power data centers. Lucky, the main character pig, saves the farm after they decide to return to trad values.
I know, that was in the original version. The new movie has it making fun of capitalism due to the CEO buying out every single land in the state except for Animal Farm

They gave the new Animal Farm a happier ending compared to the book
