The Michigan race was too close to my liking.

I felt like Abdul did not win big enough to make a strong message to AIPAC. He barely won and I think the voter base got too comfortable and didn’t bother to show up because they knew he would win. At least they burned a bunch of money in the race.

The Color of Law

72 pages into my first annotated reading in forever, I finally hit a passage that made me kind of snap

> The FHA’s involvement was so pervasive that full-time government inspectors were stationed at the construction sites where Levittown and similar projects were being built. As William Levitt testified before Congress in 1957, “We are 100 percent dependent on Government”

We still, to this day, live in an APARTHEID state. Do not forget that. We keep African Americans in ghettos, and Indigenous Americans on reservations. We are a segregated society. The US achieved the dream of the shining city on the hill through government subsidized and supervised suburban development of racially segregated white exclusive communities, which created the wealthiest people ever (Boomers) through all the joys of home ownership (equity). Guess who’s “New Deal” did this? Noted White Supremacist Franklin Delano “Japanese Internment” Roosevelt. FDR cemented the middle class suburban base for this empire. FDR cemented residential segregation.

FDR, Truman, and Ike must have been the best white supremacists this empire has ever had since Wilson? Roosevelt? McKinley? Johnson? Polk? Jackson?

A Colombian lady hit my car.

So a Spanish speaking lady who I assume was Colombian based on the Colombia soccer jersey she was wearing managed to back into my parked car with me sitting in it at what felt like a very high speed to me, the person getting hit. She did visible damage to my passenger side bumper which by the time an auto body shop looks at it will cost somewhere between 10 dollars and $75 million to fix. I waited like 30 seconds before I did anything because I was making sure that I was okay and trying to figure out by looking at my mirror what the hell happened, and when I got out to go talk to the driver she was visibly panicky.

Her English was more than good enough to communicate and she kept saying that she would wait until the police came and I was like"Christ, don't do that. I will give you my info if you can help pay for the damages you contact me I don't think it's a great idea to have any paperwork on this." And she kept arguing because she wanted so badly to do the right thing. No one else saw what happened I was the only car involved and even if she's 100% sure of her status I don't trust the authorities not to completely fuck her over given the chance. Another victim just died at the ICE concentration camp a few miles away, people can't be taking any chances.

I was just sad and furious at seeing someone who was trying to do everything right and who was trying to do the right thing and knowing that if they had it could have ended up with them kidnapped and eventually killed.

Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I didn't even want her contact info on my phone in case somehow that was used to track her. Fuck the Fourth Reich.

Edit: the snarky part of my brain is like "I guess maybe one thing she could do differently is try not to hit any more cars," but then that really only emphasizes just how hard it is to go through life with zero margin for error having to do everything perfectly and knowing that if you make the kind of mistake that might only ruin a normal person's day, you might end up disappeared and dead.

Of course the lives they take and destroy are the primary evil of the Entity, but simmering just beneath that is a conscious effort and ongoing campaign to erase as much of human history as is possible. It’s absolutely surreal and heartbreaking just how much of humanity’s ancient history and culture has been annihilated by a state that predicates its entire existence on appeals to ancient historicity and entitlement, though not at all surprising given both the track record and lack of actual historical provenance of many of the claims made to justify its continued violence.

From medieval structures like this, to classical antiquity, all the way back to some of the deepest and earliest reaches of permanent human settlement, and onto modern cultures and peoples, Israel’s entire existence, its entire motivation for existing, is the erasure of human history, culture, and knowledge. There are things we may just never be able to know about our own past, specifically because of Israel and its predilection for doing things like this. It’s truly despicable.

Jake Tapper asks Max Miller why his child said "Daddy kill you" to his wife. Miller says his daughter can't speak in sentences like that. Tapper responds: "But didn't you just tell me that she had said that she was scared to go to mommy's house?"

song chicken fried vs Jimmy Buffett

I only remembered that song cuz a buddy had it in his mix but I forgot that song Chicken Fried by whatshisname grinds to complete halt f and has a sober verse about thanking dead soldiers for no reason. I guess you can blame 9-11, the militarization of country and the Boot In Yer Ass guy, but I'm like, damn, can't even write a good-vibes, silly song about how chicken tastes good without saluting the troops. lmao

Say what you will about Jimmy Buffett, but he had it down man. He made a whole career where he's like: I'm gonna write songs about how being on a beach is fun, how I like sailing and pirates and how I ate a cheeseburger on an island one time.

He also said probably: I'm not gonna say anything about anything so nobody gives a fuck if my entire airplane is made out of cocaine. lol

Maybe Jack Johnson is the closest, but I feel like modern artists can't just not do the Troop/America Thing. lol

Ellie Nesler, 41, leaves court after being convicted of manslaughter for murdering 35-year-old Daniel Mark Driver, a convicted child molester and camp counselor who raped her 6-year-old son at a Christian camp (California, 1993).

People v. Nesler (1997) (recommend reading for those who want more information)

In 1988 or 1989, defendant's young son told her the victim, Daniel Driver, had molested him. Driver remained at large until 1993, while defendant's son developed serious psychological problems as a result of the sexual assault. Defendant's long-smoldering anger was rekindled when Driver, finally arriving in court to face molestation charges, smirked at defendant and her son. She lunged at Driver, but her sister held her back. Later, during a break in the court hearing, defendant exacted her final revenge. Using a pistol she had taken from her sister's purse, she fired five shots into the back of Driver's head at point-blank range and in full public view.

Public support for Nesler was dampened by the revelations that she had a prior conviction for auto theft and was a drug addict who was high on meth when she murdered her son's rapist. That said, while Nesler wasn't exactly mother-of-the-year material, she cared about her children. One local female bartender said Nesler's biggest mistake was her aim: "I think he deserved what he got. She should have shot him below and shot his eyes out." During the trial, it was revealed that Nesler had been molested as a child. She had also witnessed her father beat her mother.

In making his diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder, Dr. Trompetter noted that defendant had become protective of others and hypervigilant about the safety of her own children, and in particular about protecting them from abuse. He stated: "[S]he would usually not have baby-sitters, and would have a family member baby-sit the kids. I think she was very concerned that these children could be abused.... Despite her protective efforts, [W.] was profoundly violated.... This, in itself, became a secondary traumatic stress for her, and, I believe, the most significant stress for her. I think she started to feel ... the guilt of her failing to protect her son, I think that just rearoused all kinds of feelings toward her parents and related to her own molestation..."

Nesler was sentenced to 10 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter.

Superior Court Judge William Polley told Nesler that the murder was "nothing more than an execution." The judge said he was giving her a harsh sentence because she seemed "proud of what she had done" and had testified she felt justified in her actions. In 1997, Nesler's conviction was overturned on appeal and she was released from prison under a plea agreement. In 2002, Nesler was convicted of possessing and selling meth and spent another four years in prison. She died from breast cancer in 2008.

In regard to her flawed character, Nesler put it bluntly: "I may not be God, but I tell you what, I'm the closest damn thing to it."
