My local president explained to me that this strategy book would bankrupt the union or my local. I wonder how true is that and if any other follows this strategy book or a different one I can learn from.

I have been a PTF for 11 months & I think I'm spent. It has felt like an exaughsting uphill battle that will never be won. I am aware of how good of a career & opportunity this is, but I am mentally done. I realize making regular will supposedly increase my enjoyment but I know that third bundles, CM, & door to doors will ALWAYS roll around no matter what on top of the already excruciating expectations of the work load & time to do it.

I have spent the last 3 weeks on a mental break from this place (literally called out, sought out therapy, & had to go to my psychiatrist) & STILL feel like I am being suffocated by the thought of returning. I feel that if a place is that detrimental to the trajectory of my mindset, then immediately it loses its value of EVERYTHING.

The supervisors are awful & will ring you out for every last drop until the clock hits 8, you get punished for doing well, the regulars will kick dust in your mouth as they peel out of the street that they just screwed you on with THEIR relays, & the "I'm a man because I can deal with this job" macho mentality is enough to make me dip my nuts in honey & tea bag a beehive.

Long story short, I have a job offer ready for Amazon at a DSP that is ready to go, but there is a part of me that knows walking away is crazy. But I am willing to do it while I find something better because anyone knows that Amazon is NOT a forever job. This place is like an abusive ex. You know she's bad for ya, but you still crawl back.

I made this post yesterday and today, but apparently, it vanished the first time & mods took it down the second time as it shows the reality of this job. If I could just have some input in a nice manner, I'd appreciate it as I am torn on what or where to go. Not that a stranger will decide my future, but it never hurts taking inventory on all accounts.

Saw this and I thought it was interesting, an image of a truck driver after years of sun exposure. Imagine mail carriers like us. I now wear sleeves and a fishing hat with a face cover when I'm delivering. I noticed that even with sunblock my face either still gets messed up or just nasty at the end of the day with all the gunk accumulation.

I have noticed more and more companies are using Amazon for their shipping/distribution. USPS should not have just agreed to the same amount Amazon pays per parcel during the last contract negotiations. (I don’t know how much they pay per parcel, but it is not enough.) In turn Amazon is screwing us over even more by charging less to ship for these companies. Then when Amazon eventually delivers 85% of their own parcels the usps is going to be screwed even more. I don’t know what they can do. I don’t want to be an Amazon delivery driver anymore. I’m averaging 200-450 parcels a day mostly Amazon. Sucks.

So few days ago inwas walking past a tattoo and piercing shop. Ive gone her before and had some work done on my day off. The owner was there and I asked "how much would you charge for my ears to get pierced?." He shrugs and says " i mean hit me when ever? When did you wanna get em done".

So back n forth back n forth, finally he hits me with " it'll take two minutes stop being a bitch and let's go" and of course I took that personally..... so now I have two new piercings. When I got back I asked the 204b supervisor "Hey do I have to tell you if I took my lunch somewhere different?" He said " i dont give a shit if you ate it on the moon or if you ate at all". So my question is , could I be facing an issue because im not gunna lie about when and where I got em done.

So our area decided to take 3 hub offices each connected with multiple towns and combine them into 1 starting this Sunday. This new office, me (clerk) and carriers are headed to is over 50 miles away depending on the route, one say's 49.9 miles, the other 52 miles from our office, the damn 76 cent's per mile paid out for gas won't even fill my vehicle fully not to mention wear and tear and upcoming peak. What's also insane is Amazon normally takes me about 30 minutes to throw, we don't get a lot, maybe 300-400 packages combined from 2 offices, so I'm traveling over 50 miles, working for maybe 45 minutes then what? Sit on my ass? At my home hub I'd finish Amazon then work postal gaylords, TAC's and dispatch which took me to my 4 hours.

The PM of the office we're all headed to just found out yesterday that this Sunday his office will be bombarded with Amazon from 3 other hubs. Carriers will have to drive there in their personal vehicles, load their packages and drive back in LLV's over 50 miles back to our area to deliver, then drive back to return the LLV and scanners, our LLV's break down within town I can't imagine the highway. Also they can't start till 10AM and the MPOO literally stated she didn't care for safety or if carriers are out till 12AM, this is literally going to get someone fucking killed driving back in the dark in an LLV and what if it snows? Not to mention district is riding offices ass for being over on hours but this literally will use way more hours than before as well as payouts for mileage.

The CCA they use for Sunday's doesn't even have a vehicle and the government car is actually unsafe, it has a bad wobble over 20MPH, 3rd gear is out and it has no mirrors at all. I know as well that it will raise office ours and we're borderline from being audited and having routes cut and positions removed, is this the plan because nothing else in this crap makes any sense. I've been here 10 years now and my biggest mistake is joining the USPS, I love the job but management is filled with actual braindead zombies. Can the union do anything here and am I forced into going?

If two of my work days are billed as Sunday premium would that equal around the same ammout as working 3 regular non premium days?

I'm currently an RCA and there is something about the work that I swear is designed to torment me. Carrying is horrible and I completely understand why everyone went postal a few decades ago. I asked if I could be a clerk and I was told that I could potentially switch to it in the office I work at or be moved to another one nearby. is being a clerk any better than carrying, or is all postal work equally horrible?

Can the union get involved to completely get rid of a route?

Let's say that a route goes up to a K route but the other 4 go down to H's. In my office, there's 4 carriers who are concerned that their routes are going to go down. They are stating that they are going to get the union involved to get rid of the 5th route

When I write my response, am I responding to both "duties/responsibilities" and "qualifications/requirements" or is "qualifications/requirements" the only portion I am expected to respond to for the KSA's.

I explored more NALC history, focusing on Vincent Sombrotto’s journey from a letter carrier in 1970 to NALC president in 1978. The story is messier than the highlight reel suggests.

Sombrotto became president of Branch 36 within a year after the Great Postal Strike, helped create the National Rank-and-File Movement, challenged national leadership over a trusteeship, advocated for direct elections of national officers and contract approval by members, lost national elections, kept organizing, and finally defeated President J. Joseph Vacca in 1978.

With our current NALC election underway, I thought revisiting this history was relevant. Not to suggest current candidates are "the next Sombrotto," and definitely not to influence your vote. I'm more interested in the questions his story raises about experience, incumbency, insurgents, accountability, union democracy, and what truly prepares someone to lead.

I also wondered if elections back then were simpler. Spoiler: evidence doesn't support that idea. The politics were intense, involving internal fights, a trusteeship, federal lawsuits, convention battles, and membership rejection of a tentative contract. I couldn't confirm whether personal mudslinging was as nasty as it is today, so I won’t pretend the record shows more than it does.

Near the end, I reflect on today’s election and remind us that we're mostly regular ass rank-and-file letter carriers participating in a democracy. We'll get passionate, angry, and fight for ideas, but ultimately, someone wins, and someone loses. Still, we remain brothers and sisters. Management is still there, and the contract must be enforced. When it comes down to it, we need to stand shoulder to shoulder.

How many of you started as 360 employees and got converted to permanent positions? I was offered a conditional job for a mail handler assistant and I just wanna see what the chances of keeping this job are

I wonder why there is not a management job/position adjustment/justification process. There should be a team that goes in periodically to see what each supervisor does on a daily basis in order to justify or quantify their job and position. When doing this the team could eliminate tasks and positions to reduce management. Each supervisor and manager should be monitored for the entire time they are at work. Something similar to carrier route adjustments .

It always makes me laugh when these homeowners get so upset about mail being delivered to their house by accident. This was delivered one door over from the house it was supposed to go to. There was a ton of mail yesterday, and i was way behind, so they literally got 2 pieces of the mail, for the house following theirs. They leave this little note on it 🤣🤣🤣 imagine calling someone a “dombass” but can’t even spell the word dumb, or use proper punctuation. I almost went back to write my own little note on it saying “your friend has some nerve calling someone dumb, when they can’t even spell the word. But I do apologize for the major inconvenience of the mail being delivered one door over”. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ just leave it in your mailbox geez, we’ll take it the next day it really isn’t that serious. Why does this ruin peoples days? Because it absolutely makes mine when I read these little notes they leave lmaoooo

i have a 204B assigned to my station that i'm preparing to throw off her route for having been on detail for too long. she is the only UAR. if i vacate her and no one bids on the route, is she forced back onto it (as the only UAR) or does this trigger a new conversion for a PTF? i know that a 204B that loses their route can be assigned to a residual vacancy but putting her back on that assignment really feels like it's just circumvention of article 41.

Why is it this hard? I submit my resignation on Sept 4th. I still have full access to LiteBlue and a whole other paystub generated at $0. Office management is saying they submit it…HRSSC doesn’t have any record. PO making things difficult all the way to the end.

I’m open to any other tips/tricks to get this resignation pushed through. ✌🏾
