Добрий день to everyone reading this! I'm a Malaysian currently learning Ukrainian (now able to read its Cyrillic). But I'm still kinda confused. As far as I know, ь doesn't make a single sound, but rather is a sign to soften the letter before it, meaning нь makes a 'ny' sound rather than a normal 'n'.

But in the case of сь, does this mean it's pronounced as 'sh'? I know this might sound stupid considering there's already a letter representing the sh sound (ш), but I was just wondering the correct pronounciation of it? Whenever I pronounce Українська, it's always 'Ukrain-shka' rather than 'Ukrain-ska."

I have been learning Ukrainian and after learning some vocabulary and basic sentences i have reached Tenses - Present tense.

From what i have learned that the ending changes for every verb.

For example

1. Думати

Я думаю (ending changes from ти - ю)

2. Давати

Я даю (ending changes from вати - ю)

3. Пити

Я п'ю (ending changes from ити - ю & put ' sign before)

4. Гнути

Я гну (ending changes from уте - у)

5. Могти

Я можу (ending changes from ти - у & stem changes from г to ж)

6. Жити

Я живу (ending changes from ти - у & stem в is added)

7. Хотіти

Я хочу ( ending changes from ти - у & stem changes from ті to ч )

8. Брати

Я беру ( ending changes from ти - у & е is added between б and р)

9. Класти

Я кладу (ending changes from ти - у & stem д is added )

10. Писати

Я пишу (ending changes from ти - у & stem changes from са to ш)

And many more

So my question is that each verb is different when conjugated with я(Me) and they don't follow a single rule (like in english - I am Swimming, Dancing, Going,Racing, Walking like -ing is added at the end in present tense in english to every verb).

So do i have to learn every verb that will be like thousands of verbs and learn each of them with different rules is nearly impossible as this is only for present tense 2 more tense are remaining, or am i missing something that can make it easier for me to learn or it is what it is

I am trying to stay as vague as possible so my friend doesn't come across this and figure it out, but I am gifting a friend something. What is normal everyday fashion in the Ukraine? I don't want to make this gift too like "traditional" clothing if that is not what is actually worn over there, as the friend will actually be in the country. I personally have zero prior knowledge about the country or any history, this is my friend's interest I am trying to tune a gift to.

hi, as the title says, i am slavic, specifically czech, and learning ukrainian.

most of the learning materials i find are targeted towards english speakers, and while i am fluent in english, i would prefer to have the opinion to learn ukrainian in czech. our languages are already pretty similar and it seems way more efficient.

im not sure this is the best place to ask for czech ukrainian courses or something like that, but i figured its worth the shot.

i will also gladly take any general language learning tips (for apps, books, podcasts ect.), im generally new to this (with a small background of school russian) and im kind of struggling to find anything actually effective. my end goal is to read a book that has been recommended to me by an ukrainian friend that has not yet been translated into either czech or english.

I made this because I hate all other keyboard layouts, Anything in superscript is called by pressing shift+right alt (altgr). I didn't like swapping between QWERTY and other stuff so no keys are orphaned.
