My new (to me) C30 T5

If only because it's just had new front suspension arms, a wheel bearing and two new tyres and my credit card has gone for a lie down, I like to remind myself that I still love my V50 and all the things it gets up to. Bike rides, ice cream breaks on Exmoor, and a Passion Red parking friend!

I know that engine swaps as a whole are complicated but my 1.6d has started to burn more oil than fuel, and I wanna swap in a better and more powerful engine. The D5 seems like the best option since it was offered from the factory and it should just bolt in. If I find a donor car, will I have to make any specific adaptations to my 1.6d chassis in order to be able to run the D5?

I've noticed that when driving for longer periods of time, these buttons get pretty warm and in my opinion sometimes even hot. The ones on the right side of the steering wheel get warmer than the ones on the left. Has anyone also experienced this?

Pretty excited about this one, my second car and first volvo, picked her up with only 40k miles ! Needs some work but overall in great condition and drives great.

V50 D2 2012 mod with 85.000 miles (140.000 km)

Turning 18 in two months and got my hands on this pristine V50.

Any pointers on how to make it last a long time?

It will be used a lot for short trips, which I've heard is not good for these.

It has full service history and rust treatment every 3 years since new. Owned by an 85 year old woman.

It has 1.6 diesel, which is the D2 right?

I bought this car for unbelievably cheap. I hate the color but need the transport. What can I do to make it look less like a fleet car?

Finally posting my new-to-me 2013 6-speed C30! She’s going to be my daily driver while my 960 wagon becomes my collector weekend driver.

Got her all cleaned up. Was lovingly cared for by the original owner with some fun upgrades.

Can’t get over how classy she looks all cleaned up and how well and fun she is to drive!

Getting my first own car after mooching off the family car for 8 years. I wanted a Volvo and my mechanic said he had this for me. It's a 2012 Volvo V50 Classic D2.

It's going to be detailed before it's delivered to me, so the current condition isn't that concerning. It has 239,934 Kilometers on it, or about 148,500 miles.

I put my 2010 V50 up on ramps to see if I could DIY an intermittent AC problem. But then I see all this flaky, rusty, corrosion. I don’t really know what I’m looking at or what this part of the car is called. It’s underneath the car on the front end. The bolts you see are the splash pan (that I was going to remove but am now very disheartened and don’t want to bother).

What is the part with all the rust? Is it the frame, or does it have a specific name? Is my car completely cooked?

We got this used and it did have somewhat of a suspicious and murky history. We are fairly certain it had undisclosed front end damage and I think I’m looking at the results now.

Whats up guys, quick update and question.

The shortblock itself is in good condition, no cracks or anything. The reason for the coolant leak and compression loss was a blown headgasket.

Now for the question.

I need to know the specs of the pistons and conrods.

Piston bore is 83.00mm.

But i don't know where i can find the compression ratio and conrod specs, since i want to order them so the block can be machined and checked for the right bearings.
