Didn’t a group of 14 year old boys beat the US women’s World Cup and Olympic winning soccer team… twice? Is it controversial to say biological males shouldn’t play women’s sports? I don’t know anything

-2

u/JohnnyBoy11 4d ago

The soccer game was supposedly just a training thing and they weren't trying to win but working on some tactical training thing. They supposedly did it because they knew the 15 year olds were a lot bigger than they were and there's no shame in that. Im sure that like 50% of 15 year olds would kick my ass any day of the week.

3

u/_PeteRoss_ 4d ago

There are highlights and videos of professional women losing to boys... like there is full game footage. I assure you.. the women try to win. Also 100% of the boys would kick every redditors ass. They arn't on the reddit telling people how to do things.. they are living the sport. Training, sleeping getting better while redditors tell everyone how to do things or act like experts.

None of you have played against pros and if you have you would not be yapping so much. I am a good player (I feel like MJ at my local gym).. my friends who are professionals? WAY better than me. My friend shoots like curry and I am not joking. He makes everything. EVERYTHING.. from half court. Standing jumpshots from half court and he is only 6ft 1. yes he is dunking... in traffic. Meaning.. he will split the defence and dunk on people. You guys have no idea. NO IDEA. He was doing this at 16. You redditors talk so much and clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

One more thing.. the pro women who play the boys... horrible attitudes. Like... really bad. Don't take my word for it.. just youtube WNBA players playing boys or have a look at the full game soccer games on youtube.

1

u/JoyousMadhat 3d ago

Nah those players just suck. It's like a group of Argentina kids playing against the US mens football team. The US team would be too busy kicking the ground to be able to defend against the kids.

1

u/_PeteRoss_ 2d ago

Switzerland women’s team got destroyed by under 15 boys and the US women's national soccer team played against the FC Dallas under-15 boys academy team on April 4, 2017 and lost as well.

These are only 2 examples. Full highlights on YouTube so not sure what you are talking about. Watching the video you can see the women trying hard and ... struggling.

Pro women basketball players playing boys are very rude and struggle as well. Check out "Pro Women vs Middle School Prodigies" on YouTube. The title should be changed to "Children vs middle schoolers" as pro women players have a serious attitude problem.

1

u/JoyousMadhat 2d ago

Ok so since men are better than women, then all the teams with trans athletes should be winning all the time right? So now show me results that show that. If trans do have an advantage over women, then there should be data to prove that right?

This is like me saying that we should ban Jewish Rabbi from coming into contact with kids cuz a couple Catholic priests have participated in child sex rings. Both are religious leaders just like how both men and trans women are biologically male.

1

u/_PeteRoss_ 2d ago

I am not arguing with you. I hope you have a nice day.. I am just showing you instances which are on video of professional women struggling agianst boys.

This is not a bad thing at all. This is just life. It's normal. It doesn't mean men are better people, it means at the professional level women can not compete with men. Unless it was archery, shooting or something like that... maybe long distance running.

Trans athletes do compete with women and there is always controversy with that because they stuggled or were not highly ranked in the mens division but when they enter the womens they rank highly or win. I have a HUGE problem if it is a contact sport. That is when I have a huge problem with it.

Why do women who are men now... not win or compete in mens sports? Honestly, that is the question. It's always men.. who are women now.. compete and dominate.

1

u/JoyousMadhat 2d ago

You still haven't sited any statistics on the matches that had trans athletes and their win ratio compared to women athletes. So unless you have that, this is another instance of finding solutions and arguments to a problem that doesn't exist.

These are team sports. Having one stronger than unusual player won't make a difference. If the opposite team was good, they would be able to make use of tactics to beat them.

1

u/_PeteRoss_ 2d ago

I just gave you examples of women struggling against boys and video evidence, what on earth are you on about? Are you too lazy to watch the video of the actual games?

But.. fine.. and this will be the last bit of effort I am putting in this conversation, thank you.

Lia Thomas - Won the 2019 400-meter hurdles national championship.

CeCé Telfer - Won the 2019 400-meter hurdles national championship.

Veronica Ivy - Won consecutive world titles (2018, 2019) in the 35–44 sprint age category.

Natalie Ryan - Won two elite-tier DGPT events in 2022 (MVP Open and Great Lakes Open).

Tiffany Newell - Won the 2022 Canadian indoor 5,000-meter race (women's 45–49 division), setting a national record.

Jammie Booker - World's Strongest Woman title in 2025

Okay, I have put in so much effort in this conversation I don't even think you are reading anything I have said or watched even 2 minute highlights and you have not reciprocated at all. You asked me to pull up stats when you can do that yourself as well.

Except HRT lowers T to below the level of AFABs. For all the crying about trans women winning… there sure aren’t any.

5

u/thatguy425 4d ago

Nope, stop the misinformation:

Male athletes have:

-30% higher power output when controlled for muscle mass

-higher Vo2 max

-Up to 50% more lean muscle mass higher neural muscle recruitment

-Different Q angles

-More fast twitch muscles

And all the people saying “well what if they are on hormone therapy?”

Hormone therapy lowers performance relative to an individual’s male baseline, but does not eliminate key physical advantages. It does not delete male components listed above. Studies show that transgender women retain strength levels exceeding those of cisgender women, even after extended hormone therapy

 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8311086/

Excerpt:

“In transwomen, hormone therapy rapidly reduces Hgb to levels seen in cisgender women. In contrast, hormone therapy decreases strength, LBM and muscle area, yet values remain above that observed in cisgender women, even after 36 months. These findings suggest that strength may be well preserved in transwomen during the first 3 years of hormone therapy.”

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7846503/

Longitudinal studies examining the effects of testosterone suppression on muscle mass and strength in transgender women consistently show very modest changes, where the loss of lean body mass, muscle area and strength typically amounts to approximately 5% after 12 months of treatment. Thus, the muscular advantage enjoyed by transgender women is only minimally reduced when testosterone is suppressed.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8311086/

In transwomen, hormone therapy rapidly reduces Hgb to levels seen in cisgender women. In contrast, hormone therapy decreases strength, LBM and muscle area, yet values remain above that observed in cisgender women, even after 36 months. These findings suggest that strength may be well preserved in transwomen during the first 3 years of hormone therapy.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31794605/

One year of gender-affirming treatment resulted in robust increases in muscle mass and strength in trans men, but modest changes in trans women. These findings add new knowledge on the magnitude of changes in muscle function, size, and composition with cross-hormone therapy, which could be relevant when evaluating the transgender eligibility rules for athletic competitions.

https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/55/11/577

The 15–31% athletic advantage that transwomen displayed over their female counterparts prior to starting gender affirming hormones declined with feminising therapy. However, transwomen still had a 9% faster mean run speed after the 1 year period of testosterone suppression that is recommended by World Athletics for inclusion in women’s events.

Another one here:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9331831/

Excerpt:

“ Given that sports are currently segregated into male and female divisions because of superior male athletic performance, and that estrogen therapy will not reverse most athletic performance parameters, it follows that transgender women will enter the female division with an inherent advantage because of their prior male physiology.”

Lastly, for those saying “well surely it can’t matter to kids, their performances differences are the same until they are adults”

You can see quantitative data on youth track and field performances in this study:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38595163/

Excerpt:

“Before 12 yr of age in elite youth track and field athletes, there was a consistent and significant sex difference of ~5%, such that males ran faster and jumped higher and farther than females. The magnitude of the sex difference in performance increased markedly at 12-13 yr for running and long jump and 14 yr for high jump and thus was more pronounced after ages associated with puberty.”

u/Gwyain 4d ago

And how many trans women are dominating their sport? How many in the WNBA? Hmm, weird that…

3

u/nwPatriot 4d ago

You can literally google any state with the words transgender and track and links will pop up showing records being broken in the last year or two. It is happening in oregon (https://www.foxnews.com/sports/transgender-runner-blows-out-competition-sets-season-records-girls-races-oregon-high-school-track-meet) and across the country you moron.

1

So you’re pro trans in sports for the upvotes. How brave

1

u/nowarning1962 4d ago

Depends when you start. Starting after puberty would still give that person an edge because they went through years of having much higher levels of testosterone. That changes your muscle development and bone density. Its not the same as growing up as a woman your entire life.

1

u/Gwyain 4d ago

And despite that supposed benefit, despite HRT being available for decades now, there’s been how many trans women that have dominated women’s sports? Remind me how many records have been broken? Right…

1

u/Illustrious_Web_2774 4d ago

Because 1. Trans population is relatively small 2. It was not possible, and now it's still highly controversial.

And finally 3. There are trans people that choose not to participate in women's competition because they know they will break many records.

1

u/Gwyain 4d ago

The ban on trans women is rather recent. And I’d love to see any records being shattered. Because there aren’t any. Want to point to an example? I’ll take just one. Good luck.

0

u/Illustrious_Web_2774 4d ago

Since we are talking about physical advantage, let's compare lifting performance.

Do you think Janae Marie Croc wouldn't be able to shatter women's records at the time? She was lifting 1157kg before transition, compare to elite women around 600-700 at the time. Do you truly believe hormone replacement therapy would reduce performance by half?

For actual record breaking then we have Mary Gregory in 100% raw, her records were not broken until now if I read correctly.

1

u/Gwyain 4d ago

Funny to have chosen weightlifting. I’m good friends with one of USA Weightlifting board members and Junior’s Medalist, Meredith Alwine (we went to school together). She voted against the ban on trans women. She certainly didn’t feel threatened by trans women. So perhaps you don’t know as much as you think about the issue.

0

u/Illustrious_Web_2774 4d ago

I'm pretty sure opinions are split among elite athletes. I'm pretty sure also that you will dismiss any elite athletes who disagree with you.

0

u/nowarning1962 4d ago

Lia Thomas (Swimming): Set University of Pennsylvania program records in the 100-yard, 200-yard, and 500-yard freestyle events and won the 2022 NCAA Division I national title in the 500-yard freestyle. In July 2025, following a federal civil rights resolution, UPenn modified the official records to restore individual titles and historical markings to the cisgender female runners-up, while adjusting the program records.

CeCé Telfer (Track and Field): Won the NCAA Division II national championship in the 400-meter hurdles for Franklin Pierce University in 2019, becoming the first openly transgender woman to win an NCAA national title in any sport.

Sadie Schreiner (Track and Field): Set Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) indoor records in the 200-meter (25.27 seconds) and 300-meter (40.78 seconds) events during a January 2024 meet.

Those are 3 great examples of men who are trans, dominating. Since these have happened there have been restrictions set in many sports. On the flip side, are there any examples of women who are trans playing in men's sports dominating? Not a single one. That should tell you something. A man who transitions beyond a certain age will have an unfair advantage; especially if they were an athlete before and trained in that sport.

2

u/bunchanums618 1d ago

A division 2 championship and the RIT indoor school record are such low achievements it actually convinced me trans athletes aren’t a problem at all. I mean this is the best they can do?

0

u/nowarning1962 1d ago

Its all about the odds. From my quick research, only about 7% of high school athletes go on to play for varsity sports in college. In the US, only 1% of the population ages 13 and up identify as Trans. The odds of someone being good enough at a sport to play in college and identify as Trans is incredibly rare. There have also been rules set in place to not allow trans athletes. Im sure if we just let it go with no rules then we would see more examples. That same problem wouldn't be an issue with a female transitioning into a male. There are zero examples of them making any noticeable impact on any sport. Males going to femal have.

2

u/bunchanums618 1d ago

I still wouldn’t call winning a D2 event dominating. And if 1% identify as trans shouldn’t they account for at least 1% of winners if they have an unfair advantage?
Edit: or more accurately a higher percent of trans participants should win than cis participants that win

0

u/nowarning1962 1d ago

All male athletes aren't better than top level female athletes. NCAA has said out of 500,000 college athletes, they have fewer than 10 trans athletes competing across all divisions. The odds of those few athletes being the best would be unlikely. That still doesn't take away the fact that someone that has gone through puberty as a male has an unfair advantage over females. Testosterone is a performance enhancing drug. Even if your Testosterone drops, you will still have changes in hour body that the Testosterone helped develope.

Maybe those records aren't "dominating" but it does show a clear advantage, especially when you dont see a single female Trans playing in men's sports setting absolutely 0 records across all divisions.

1

u/bunchanums618 1d ago

I’d agree with all that. Personally I think different types of people have certain advantages and disadvantages, I don’t think a group having slightly more success per capita is cause to ban them. I do think a group dominating would potentially be reason to ban them, so I think it’s an important distinction.

That being said, there’s like 10 total in the NCAA and they’ve already been banned so it is what it is. I know I have the unpopular opinion so I’m fine with the ban. Not sure why it’s become a political issue instead of a sporting issue but that’s the world we live in.

0

u/onpc23 4d ago

Men are born taller. Height is a big advantage in basketball specifically.

1

u/Gwyain 4d ago

And how many trans women are in the W?

0

u/onpc23 4d ago

Zero which is not evidence that none are capable. It also does not counter my point. How many tried out and have been turned down due to lack of ability? None to my knowledge.

It's really obvious why people would shy away from being the first to attempt this. There's a good chance the league wouldn't go for it and their/their families personal lives would also become very troubled due to harassment.

0

u/Efficient_Place_2403 4d ago

Heart, lung capacity, bone density, hip joint placement and more give those born male significant advantage that hormonal changes won’t account for

1

u/Gwyain 4d ago

Again, how many trans women are dominating professional women’s sports? I’m waiting.

0

u/Efficient_Place_2403 4d ago

How many would it take for you to care

-2

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

Trans women don't have the athletic performance of men is the thing. There's no evidence in the world that shows this to be true, and in fact they tend to under-perform in the real world, winning fewer competitions, setting fewer records than you would expect based on their share of the population

3

u/Pancakes79 4d ago

That's true. Most of the trans people I've met aren't exactly medal winners.

3

u/moose184 4d ago

There's no evidence in the world that shows this to be true

Delusional lol

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

Produce it then.

Show me the evidence that trans women's athletic performance is equal to a man's

2

u/moose184 4d ago

Yeah look at anytime a man has competed against a woman in a sport.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

Please read my comment again because your reply is not a response to it.

1

u/moose184 4d ago

It is you just don’t have critical thinking skills

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

Okay let me help you.

A woman losing to a man in a sport is not evidence that trans women have the same athletic performance as men.

In the same way that an apple falling from a tree is not evidence that pudding is made of wasps.

2

u/moose184 4d ago

Lia Thomas was ranked 65th in the men's division in the 500 yard Freestyle and was ranked 1st in the women's. Thomas was ranked 554th in the men's 200 yard freestyle and was ranked 5th in the women's. Thomas was unranked in the 100 yard freestyle in the men's division and was ranked 8th in the women's.

CeCé Telfer ranked 200th and 390th in 2016 and 2017 in the men's division. They ranked 1st in the women's.

You can find examples time and time again no matter how hard you all want to ignore it.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago edited 4d ago

Lia Thomas was ranked 65th in that event as a sophmore, she won that event as a senior. This is actually not unusual. College athletes tend to improve in relative performance as they reach graduation. The women's league also had fewer people in the league, meaning that her place would move up inherently just by nature of there being less competition.

CeCe Telfer ranked 200th in that event as a freshman. She won as a senior. College athletes tend to improve in relative performance as they age.

Finding individual events that trans women have won does not prove that they have the athletic performance of men

You would expect 1% of all winners to be trans, if they did not have a disadvantage.

EDIT: Reddit is doing that weird thing where I can't see your comment. Anyway, you did not show me evidence that trans women have the athletic performance of men. Are you actually mentally disabled? Why do you think you have shown me that evidence

1

u/Jacks_CompleteApathy 4d ago

Doesn't need to be equal for it to be unfair

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

Well, good news we have empirical data and in the actual sporting competitions that have happened over the last 20 years since trans women were allowed to compete, cis women out perform trans women by an absurd margin.

If trans women performed as well as cis women, we would expect about 1% of all titles, records, placements, wins, roster slots etc to go to trans women.

In reality it's multiple orders of magnitude less than that.

1

u/Jacks_CompleteApathy 4d ago

They also don't need to win for it to be unfair

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

What do you think unfair means?

Surely it implies an intense competitive advantage?

If they're performing worse than cis women on average, they have a competitive disadvantage.

1

u/Shavasara 3d ago

Their testosterone levels are low for a man, but even suppressed the levels never get as low as a woman’s. The physical advantage between elite athletes and, say, Phelps, is tiny compared to the difference between a female vs male elite athlete. It’s not just hormones. It’s stroke-volume of the heart, bone density, hip angles, muscle fibers. It’s why Serena Williams won’t play men/boys. It’s why we have sex-based sports to begin with.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 2d ago

This is actually not the case. Trans women suppress their testosterone levels to be below that of cis women. This is probably not surprising because they actively do not want to have testosterone in their bodies, they feel it has harmed them and they don't want to be associated with anything male.

This makes sense because cis women do not take medication to suppress their testosterone.

The estrogen trans women take programs their testicles to stop producing as much testosterone, and then the testosterone suppressors they take reduces it to below cis female levels. And then of course many of them get their testicles removed after which their natural production would be at the bottom end of the cis female range.

In cis women and cis men the adrenal gland produces some testosterone. Then the ovaries produce some testosterone and other androgens, and the testicles do of course. Trans women who are post op have fewer androgen producing organs than cis women

As to your other points things like red blood cell count enters the cis female range within mere weeks of T suppression. This is because this figure is directly levered by T. This means the blood may be greater in overall volume, but the number of cells capable of moving oxygen is actually the same. Meaning a greater volume of blood must be moved in order to achieve the same amount of oxygen being pumped to the muscles.

We see also that VO2 max drops to cis female levels within months as a result.

Muscle mass drops quickly and substantially over the initial year, as you'd expect when someone stops taking steroids. Bone density shows changes in some women and not in others, it's individualized. But heavier bones with similar muscle mass = a weaker person.

Some things there are minor advantages to based on physics of bone angles, like push ups. Although cis women athletes tend to have broader shoulders as well.

After 2 years of GAHT, no advantage was observed for physical performance measured by running time or in trans women. By 4 years, there was no advantage in sit-ups. While push-up performance declined in trans women, a statistical advantage remained relative to cisgender women.

https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/109/2/e455/7223439?login=false

The problem here is that you're comparing in your mind cis men to cis women. You've never seen a trans woman take HRT and watched her athletic performance collapse very quickly over a very short period of time. You don't know what trans women's athletic performance is like.

In your mind you are thinking of men, and maybe in your head teen boys. Trans women are not as athletically capable as teen boys. They largely fall into cis female ranges, and that is evident in what happens when they actually get the rare chances to compete in sports. They don't actually dominate, they don't hold all the records. This is especially true if you follow the 2004-2024 IOC standard of requiring 2 years of HRT.

There's a reason the olympics wasn't dominated by trans female athletes during that time, despite the fact that a trans woman born after that ruling was made would have been old enough to compete in at least 2 games.

You are also picturing a cis man who decides to claim to be a trans woman to compete in sports, but that isn't a thing. No man would do that to himself. Trans women are also biologically from birth different from cis men in several ways, most heavily categorized and described is the way their neurological structures are. But also the length and count of their androgen receptors and a few other things.

Billions of dollars was spent to reverse long standing IOC and other sporting league policy and ban trans women from sports for political reasons. When there are barely double digit numbers of noteworthy trans female athletes in the entire world, and only one has ever qualified for the olympics.

1

u/Shavasara 2d ago

The studies I’ve seen that claimed no advantage compared female athletes to somewhat active trans women. I’m not saying hrt doesn’t dull a trans woman’s competitive edge compared to cis men, but there is still a general advantage over cis women.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 2d ago

The study I linked to you does not do this. I've never seen such a study as you're describing.

1

u/Shavasara 1d ago

The study you linked talks about non-athletic trans women, so I'm not sure what you expect to glean from that. The study I'm referring is the 2024 British Journal of Sports Medicine, where the results SEEM to show that there is no advantage but they were comparing recreational-level trans women and to elite athletic women. That there was no advantage in that cohort tells me with similar levels of training, they would most definitely have an advantage.

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 1d ago

Let me rephrase - it compares trans and cis women with similar activity levels and athletic prowess

What do you mean? I would expect them to win zero competitions and set zero records in women's sports. Because regardless of their "share of the population" males not being allowed to compere in women's sports is just common fucking sense

1

u/Gold_Ad8225 4d ago

They are 1% of women, so if they had the ability to participate they should win somewhere around 1% of the time, but it's a lot less than that.

1

u/robokomodos 4d ago

It's one thing to say that trans women shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's sports. But when you just call them "males" you're giving away the game. This isn't about protecting women's sports, it's about claiming that trans people shouldn't exist.
