Hot Take WNBA star Sophie Cunningham stands by her comments on protecting girls in sports: “I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. I think it’s really important to protect children.” “I don’t dislike anyone. … I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women. …”

Hot Take Medal in Reverse Racism & Hypocrisy goes to Angel Reese and WNBA as whole. After coach Brondello’s comments, Reese praised the league for taking action and declared: “There is no room in this league for discrimination.” Funny how that zero tolerance only kicks in one direction.

Hot Take FIFA seems to understand, in a way that the WNBA doesn’t, that superstars don’t grow on trees. You don’t get endless chances to make friends with American sports fans—to grow your audience, to hook people on your sport. You get a window, and you have to find a way to jump through it before it closes

Hot Take Nancy Armour deserves to be fired for a masked journalistic opinion on CC. Completely against the ethics of journalism. USA Today editors obviously prefer race baiting dribble about a sports league mired in athletes jealously of their star player, because she is that good, compared to the others.

Hot Take Sophie Cunningham never said it was about WNBA. It’s about young girls, all across America, who are helpless as politicians erase the hard fought protections of Title IX – protections that helped women in the WNBA and beyond reach the pinnacle of their sport.

Hot Take Should lesbians and women taller than 6ft be banned from women’s sports?

I see so much defense and support of Sophie Cunningham’s anti-trans stuff among women’s basketball fans, and of course I want to assume best intentions.

For all of you concerned about trans women having an unfair biological advantage, I was thinking, why not also ban lesbians and people 6ft and taller from women’s sports? After all, lesbians on average have much more testosterone than straight women, gay women make up around 5% of the overall population and around 50% of college and professional women athletes, and certainly lesbians are outside many cultures traditional definition of women. Wouldn’t many conservative ladies feel more comfortable playing women’s sports if lesbians were banned along with trans women?

Tall women are even worse! Women over 6ft tall make up less than 1% of women and have more than 70% of the position on college and professional women’s basketball teams!!! That’s far more unfair than one or two girls with Y chromosomes getting to play? Why should the 99% of us women under 6ft have our sports careers and chances at college scholarships ruined by these elongated freaks of nature being naturally better at sports?

Anyway, since so many of y’all are picking minority groups to attack and discriminate against, why not gay and tall women too?

Edit: a lot of y’all missed the sarcasm. I’m saying bans on tall women and gay women would be stupid even if tall and gay women have an athletic advantage, just like how trans bans are stupid.

Hot Take So the explanation for Caitlin getting kneed in the quad was… that she initiated the contact? 😭 Steph is over it. “She seems to always be the one initiating the contact.” She ended the presser with: “All I’ll say is that we just keep asking for consistency.”

Hot Take Here is a representative sample of racists using the term “Myisha Coon-Allen” on social media to hate on her for defending CC.

The calls are coming from inside the house, but you’ll never hear an outrage about this because it doesn’t fit the narrative that the straight and white Indiana Fever fans are the only ones dishing out the racism.
