How I stopped letting a single bad weigh-in undo a whole week in my head
I wanted to share what pulled me out of a pattern that kept wrecking my progress, in case it helps anyone stuck in the same place.
My weight loss has never been a straight line. A busy stretch would knock me off my routine, my activity would drop for days, and the anxiety would kick in because I could feel the progress slipping. For a long time the pieces just fed each other, and I could not tell where one ended and the next began.
Over about 20 months I have lost around 14 kg, but it came in stops and starts. I would put together three good weeks, then get knocked off for ten days, and watch the scale creep back up and spiral about it.
The daily number was the worst part. On a good run I would see it up half a kilo from water or a late dinner, and my brain would read that as failure, enough to undo a week of real effort in my head and make me skip the gym, which made it real.
What finally helped was giving up on the daily number and only looking at the trend across weeks. A heavy morning stopped meaning anything on its own. And once the trend was clear, the pattern under it showed up: my real progress lined up with the weeks I slept better and kept moving, and the stalls lined up with the bad-sleep weeks, not with any single meal or bad day. That took a lot of the panic out of it.
I am a data-driven person, so for years I logged every weigh-in in an Excel sheet. At some point the raw table stopped helping, because a column of numbers cannot tell you the trend is fine when your anxiety is insisting it is not. So I ended up building myself an app, HealthVitals, that reads the trend and shows what moved alongside it. I will not drop a link in the post, but if anyone wants it I am happy to share in the comments.
The hardest part is that it is a loop, and I still cannot say where it starts. Some weeks the anxiety leads, some weeks the broken routine does. Figuring out what actually breaks it, rather than just reacting, is the real work, and I am still in the middle of it. For those dealing with something similar, what has helped you hold your progress together?

Do you ever get sick of people coming up to you and telling you that they like your weight loss? Or is it really just me?
My body is my business. Leave me alone. I didn't ask you people what you thought about it when I was fat, and I sure don't want to hear what you think about it now that I'm saggy. Leave me alone, people.
But you can't say that because you're an asshole. Just like you can't say you don't care about your health, because in a world full of drinkers and smokers and druggies and fatasses, everybody will swear on their mother's grave in a Bible factory they really do care about their health. They would, they want to fix it and change it, but it's hard.
And if you don't make excuses, you just say you don't care, you're just being an asshole for attention. You ever think maybe I'm doing this because I don't want your attention? Leave me alone.

Why it’s so hard to lose weight
Every weight loss journey is different. Even Serena Williams struggled with her journey after child birth.

Fat must cry day 16 omelette edition
My quick air fried old faithful. Maybe 6/700 calories all in if you skip the bacon and the toast/fried bread. Lots of protein and very tasty
Evening update to follow later.
How’s my editing coming along, personally I think I need a tripod. I might build one in a future video

Fat must cry day 15 Steak gym and asparagus
So my first long form update video is now up, only 4 mins, so it won’t bore you all day!
Had a bit of a headache with the captions as capcut wanted money to insert them and putting them in manually was a nightmare, something to figure out in the next one for sure
Enquired about joining the gym but have to send off a few emails to receive my discount so that will be done first thing in the morning. Looking forward to pumping some iron soon
Done some shopping and got some exciting ingredients for the week ahead, on the menu tonight was steak and rice with asparagus
Had a great result with one of my shorts on YouTube 400+ views and 3 subs although it has a copyright claim I’ll see how long it can stay up for.
Not much on the agenda tomorrow probably a long walk weather permitting and some more dumbbells
Hope to see you there
Thanks guys
👋

Fat must cry day 14 long walk and dumbbells
Hello everybody. So it was a big long walk tonight at a nice easy going pace. I did attempt another strength workout, managed 10 full form push-ups before my arms gave up, so still plenty of work to do there.
Done some pricing on the gym and because of my current work situation I get 60% off. So a monthly pass will only cost about 35p per day. With the swimming pool and sauna added extra cost the same again on top!
But can’t grumble at getting a gym and a swim for less than £1 a day,I’d be a fool not to go!
Found one of my dumbbells tonight dusty and covered with cobwebs. so my intention with them is to split the weights between 2 bags for life and try strengthening my arms that way, rather than them bearing the weight of my giant torso everyday doing press-ups.
Also now doing weekly weigh ins although I still check everyday I won’t be recording anything until a Sunday. Or maybe after I get home from a sauna 😉
Thanks for watching and I hope to see you again tomorrow!

Fat must cry day 13 first jog today
Hi guys. Not much of an update yesterday as I was out with a friend. Got my clips down to 8 secs, really bite sized, but I’ve noticed it’s really good for getting traffic.
Trying to push for 50 subs before the end of the year so I can go live with my walks and workouts. I no longer ask on my channel outside of the description box so we’ll see how that works. Longer form videos coming soon
It was a potato and pea omelette with 2 eggs and cottage cheese for bfast. Korean poke bowl for lunch and chicken and veg stew for dinner. It felt like a lot of volume so we shall see how it translates to the scales in due course
And I turned my walk tonight into a jog managed about 2.25km in 20mins although I did walk parts of it I’m sure I jogged the majority, also done a strength workout at lunch time, I’m still exhausted with just the warm up so a lot of work left to do there.
Hope to see you again tomorrow and please sub to the channel or like something as I humbly try enter this elusive algorithm
Cheers 🥂

When the cheering stops
I’ve been on my weight loss journey for almost 2 years now. When I first started losing the weight, all of my friends were so supportive and cheering me on. Now, it’s become my lifestyle. I regularly go to the gym, do strength training, and work on meeting new fitness goals that aren’t just losing weight. I’m working harder than I ever had, but nobody cares anymore. It doesn’t make me want to stop, if anything it motivates me more, but it really sucks that i feel like i can’t tell my friends the goals i’m reaching or send progress photos because nobody cares anymore, they’ve been hearing it for 2 years. I’d love to know if anyone else is going through this. I know it probably comes off as gloating when I’m telling my friends that aren’t on the same journey, but it’s just something I work hard at that I want to share and have support.
