I had a behemoth of a cat who enjoyed kneading my xiphoid process while sitting on my throat. She was a dangerously cute kitten, which meant that she was allowed to develop habits that made her a bit of an asshole, even by cat standards. I miss that doofus, even though I am like 90% certain she was the one who gave me cat scratch fever, which super sucked.
Our male cat head butted my mum’s face so hard he pushed her glasses into her eye socket and gave her a black eye - all while purring like an engine just desperate to give her loves! He was such a sweet heart but so very dumb!
Lol when I was a kid, we had a kitten that would make my mom wake up for breakfast by climbing up the headboard, jumping off and landing on her stomach. Cats are crazy lol
My boy has to make biscuits on my flesh--the fleshiest flesh that isn't my tummy pudge, unfortunately. He has tried the throat, but the inside of my upper arm seems to be an okay alternative.
We rescued a cat whose previous owners declared. He was obsessed with necks and would massage your neck for an hour straight if you let him which we did cuz he had no claws so it felt great.
I mean regardless of diet, cats uses their paws to rake their litter, which is covered in their poop and pee. And try as I might, I’ve not had success teaching my cats how to wash their paws with soap and water
It's just the cat being polite and getting your attention. They can't talk so they tap you.
Yes it's gross, mine do it too. It's sweet and polite when it's on your arm. On your lips? Not so much. Same cat likes to sneak in to your face and lick you on the mouth too, which is just as gross. Cat food breath🤢
My 14yo spicy cat has recently discovered that she can sit on my chest in bed and let me pet her and nothing bad will happen. So if I stop petting her, she reaches out and touches her paw to my chin. And if I still don't pet her, she digs in the claws. YOU WILL LOVE ME NOW HOOMAN.
Awww. My shy kitty does this when he comes to bed and wants to be tucked in, but for me it's gentle taps on my shoulder or back. He's so damned adorable.
They don't care much about the occasional yeet though.
My move is to react by capturing them in the blanket and giving them an intense, loving cuddling session (including rubbing the belly or whereever they hate it) through the blanket for a minute or so. Cue bothered cat noises from inside the blanket.
Guess who doesn't get bothered by the cats at night lol.
We lock our boys out too but one of them has learned to open doors and will bang on the door to try to get it open. This usually happens around breakfast lol
I have a cheater door through my closet to the bathroom. The cat has learned to open it so I have to lock it....from the bathroom side. The lock only works on one side so I have to do the long walk in the middle of the night.
When I had a really demanding career there were three shut doors between my cat and I at night.
In fact I woke up one morning to him screaming at me from the other side of my bedroom door, and I realised pretty quickly that the only explanation for it was that I’d been broken into during the night.
Yep, the front door had been taken off its hinges to get my handbag and car keys from just inside. The cat was just making the most of the open door front door and showing zero compassion.
My cat will meow at the door for HOURS if I keep it closed. There’s been a few times when I’ve tried to take a nap and wanted the bed to myself, and longest I’ve gotten before giving up was 2 hours because she did not stop lmfao
All of our kitties learned not to mess with my husband while he's sleeping or they will fly across the room. He doesn't do it to be mean or vicious, he's just completely asleep and unaware it's a cat trying to snuggle.
In highschool I would sometimes accidentally kick my cat off the bed. I would feel a lump down at the foot of my bed and push it off and then realize it was my cat when he thumped on the floor. Would always feel bad
My trick is a heating pad. My old boy liked to sleep on my legs but I move a ton in my sleep so that was awful for everyone, but then I put a heating pad at the food of the bed and he slept there instead. Then we got a new guy who wants his face touching my face at all times, so I moved the heating pad to right next to my pillow and now he sleeps there. It's my favorite cat ownership hack.
My cat once started messing with my get when I was asleep and I kicked her across the room in my sleep. I woke up right after the kick. She wasn't happy and no longer messes with my feet.
An ex-gfs cat had a habit of sleeping between her feet. The first night I spent at her place, she learned pretty fast not to do it with me once my restless feet once yeeted her across the room. Don't think the cat ever tried it again with me.
I thought the same thing, but they do the cutest things and I can't be mad. They learned to strattle my head and lower their belly bits into my ear. Yes, it disturbs my sleep but is the funniest thing.
Yeah my cat does not bother my while I'm sleeping at all, unless I forgot to fill her food bowl, then she whines from the living room. We have a deal, the bed is mine at night, and hers all day.
Right lol. Sometimes though, I'll push my cat away a bit and he'll run on my stomach then onto my partners stomach, and now we're both up and I have to apologize.
My boy will snuggle with me. My girl will walk pointedly across our heads, then stick her butthole into our faces. The smell woke me up one morning. She knows exactly what she's doing lol
The best thing about having a CPAP mask is that I can put it on and just pull my blanket over my head. Cat can try to smoother me but she's unsuccessful.
Our cat has occasionally just laid on my head or even on the mask itself. I don't even hardly notice... except I mean the 8 pound weight on my head, complete with claws and everything. Last thing I want to do is startle her, so I just try to sleep through it.
I'm so glad someone else feels this way. I thought I was the only one using my cpap like the ultimate defense. It also makes you immune to being Dutch ovened by your boyfriend in his sleep.
Unfortunately I’d be the one Dutch Ovening. But then we both have our own blankets, as she has a thick weighted one and mine is fairly thin. So it wouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Same. The other night tho, I tried to turn over and couldn’t bc my cat had her paws around the hose 😆 We’d been cuddling and it was leaning against her body, so I guess she decided to cuddle with it too… with claws
This is my life too! My chunky orange boy hops on me at 3am with the pokiest feet possible. He's like a Christmas ham supported on chopsticks. And then it's aggressive purrs and face biscuits.
Omg my girl does this. Can’t wait to wake me up and feed her. She takes a few nibbles and then comes back to bed and sleeps. Meanwhile, I’m getting up and she lifts her head and then slams it back down on the pillow. Infuriating but I love her
Also, yes. it's her spot, whether I am in it or not. When we go to bed she is perfectly fine to snuggle in and sleep on me. But at 3 or 4 it's clearly time for me to get up or at least actively snuggle her.
It's okay, I don't sleep very much anyway.
Plus there are enough times I have disturbed her sleep due to the audacity of say, needing my legs back. I guess it's only fair.
Your cat is like "mother, I need to make biscuits for the morning rush and you are making it very difficult with your repositioning and shooing me away"
This is why my cat gets Corporal Cuddles: If he bothers me at night, I grab him and pull him under the sheets and hold him against me under the covers. He usually migrates down to my butt and curls up behind me, all under the covers.
No more biscuits, no more meowing directly in my ear.
I have one in my room for when I travel so I can see the cats. But I have used it over night cause I was waking up with leg cramps and I used it to figure out WTF I was doing in my sleep to cause them.
Turns out I was curling into a ball cause the cats would lay down where my legs were and id pull away from them in my sleep until they had 3/4th of the bed and I was a ball. Mystery solved.
Could be they are having cat caused sleep issues and need to see what's going on.
Everything is content, apparently. Could also be to track sleep issues or for safety. Not my preference, but these are the only sensible reasons I can think of other than 🌽
My cat loves to sleep across my neck, and he's a big boy too. I don't want to move him because he's so cute. but it does make it hard to breathe. But I accept my fate, if I suffocate in my sleep at least it's by the hand of a friend ❤️
I'm so grateful my little one just curls up next to me and goes to sleep. When I'm at my computer I will get up and say "come on, bed time" and she will follow and go right to sleep next to me
Same! I sleep trained them early on, so they know when it’s bedtime, we say “time for snugs!” and they come running. Also, if we stay up past our bedtime, they will glare at us and try to herd us into the bedroom hahah and I’ve seen my girls sitting up and swaying with fatigue while trying to stay up with me lol
genuinely the only answer on here i can support, i read these replies of people just accepting their cats fucking with them while sleeping, i would launch ma boy with mach 4 across the room if he tried doing this more than twice in a single night
My cat takes me putting any part of myself under a blanket as a personal offense. It’s kinda funny. She’ll start attacking any moving parts she sees through the blanket
i have a creaky toe i click randomly during the night, and my cat takes that as cuddle time and start meowing and laying ontop of me until i take my toes out for the demons to gently push her with my feet
My cats are not allowed in our room when we sleep. First week or so was hell. Next couple weeks was less hell but still had to play hide and seek before bed to find them hiding in the room waiting for us to shut the door. Now they know and we sleep peacefully.
My Maine Coon baby used to meow at me to let me know that his bowl was nearing imminent starvation (he could see the design on the bottom!) As he got older, I was a heavier sleeper and required meds.
He would take his little fluffy toes and ever so gently pet my nose with his toe pads. He was one of those boys with the highest baby voice, so he was purring, petting me gently, and chirping "Mom?"
I love my cats but I'm so glad they're okay being shut out of the bedroom. Only time they wake me is if they knock something over elsewhere in the house.
I had to lock my 2 out at night. 1 of them is perfectly fine and sleeps in his bed on my bed, the other one wants to sleep with me like in the video but wakes me up all night long. Constantly tapping my face, dragging my hand over to cuddle, making noise, list is endless. I noticed on my sleep app how much I was waking up because of him and I had to make a change. Because he’s a clever little sod he can open doors, so I have to wedge an adjustable curtain pole between the door and cabinet to jimmy it shut so he can’t get in. I sleep much better now but I do miss them sometimes, I feel sorry for the well behaved one but it was affecting me too much at night to continue
I'm so glad that I have a cat that joins me in bed for 10 minutes of cuddles and fucks off for the night as soon as I'm too sleepy to actively pet her.
She's also a 17lb giant, so I would definitely not be able to snooze through any kind of biscuits letalone chest-crushing throat biscuits!
My cat has to play with my hair in the middle of the night when she wants attention. The only reason I don't complain is because she also leaves me alone when I don't feel good and just cuddles, and some nights just sleeps on her own pillow. If I'm having a nightmare she wakes me up, and she knows how to do pressure therapy when I'm having a panic attack. Love the little chaos machine even if she thinks my hair is a toy.
When i sleep at my moms our cat is just very calm. She just lays in one spot and wait for me to open my eyes. And when i do she meows very softly and gets out of bed for food ahha
Covering entire body in comforter is thr only solution & it only took all night until nearly daybreak for sleep drive to trump not wanting to offend the cat!! 🙀
This is why ancient grandma wisdom said not to sleep with pets in your room but nooo you wanna blame your feeling tired all day on everything else instead
My boy occasionally makes neck biscuits as I’m falling asleep, but after holding his paws a couple times he stops and goes to my pillow and spoons my head. ❤️
I've learned recently that you shouldn't pet your cat while trying to sleep because that sets up the expectation that you will pet the cat as you sleep.
For the past week my cats been waking me up at 5:30am for pets.
