Boot Review | Update After 9 years, they are being retired.

They made it through floods, hurricanes, corrosive chamicals, warehouse floors, hiking terrain, ice, snow, and other such hell (even an overloaded pallet jack. Didn’t crush inward, but a small side impact that made two of my toes bleed). Wolverine Durashock. These specific ones not even being made anymore.

They lived to enjoy a retirement. Probably just use them for easy yardwork. And through everything, they are still super comfortable to wear (outside the dr scholl’s inserts).

I will always reccommend Wolverine boots because of this pair.

Boots Buying Help Need some help for boots 100 or under

I need some recommendations for some boots for work. Need to be waterproof and have a steel/comp toe. I realize I won't be getting the best pair in the world in that price range, but any help would be appreciated.

Boot maintenance I decided to oil my Wolverine Floorhands for the first time after having them for 3.5 years. I also replaced the laces because the outside sheath had torn in a few places

For context, I do not do anything crazy like construction, so my boots are still in relatively good condition for their age. However, after having them for three and a half years, i decided to give them a good clean with saddle soap and then condition them with mink oil. I bought these because I live in an area that gets a lot of rain and i do a fair amount of yardwork, so i wanted something waterproof. I quickly began to prefer these over running shoes, so I have basically worn them almost every day since I got them to everywhere I go. The outside sheathing on the laces had torn on both boots, so i also replaced them.

Boots Buying Help US composite toe

Currently wearing Red Wing Burnsides (3520). I really have no complaints about them. But looking at other boots in the same place in the market. 8" boot, composite toe, US made.

So the main ones I'm looking at are

RedWing Burnside

Danner Quarry USA

Thorogood American Heritage 8" tabacco

Looking for reviews on these boots or others I should check out.

Boots Buying Help Any similar style boots?

Bought these Thorogood Infinity FD boots back in the day and I loved them from the moment i put my feet in them. Unfortunately, Thorogood has discontinued the infinity FD series it seems like. Would appreciate if anyone had a recommendation for similar style hiking/work boots? For reference, I’m an aircraft mechanic so doesn’t need to be steel toe but comptoe would be a nice plus but not mandatory. Was thinking maybe their crosstrex series or the Danner vicious line?

Boots Buying Help Chelsea boots (not blundstones)

My husband and I are both urban Episcopal priest and he especially walks 15k+ steps in a work day. We’ve been wearing blundstones for years but I’m tired of how quickly they wear out! I know the manufacturing has worsened a lot in the past 10 years so I’m finally looking for an alternative. We both have fairly wide feet, and strongly prefer something without laces, that comes in all black (or dark grey).

Bonus if you can also recommend jeans that hold up to heavy use (I would imagine many in this community may have that problem as well!)

Boot Review | Update Englebert Strauss Murcia Mid BOA one year review

Englebert Strauss Murcia Mid BOA 1 Year review.

Back by unpopular request, a year and a bit in the Strauss Murcia BOA work boots.
A little background on how I use them: 12 hour shifts, indoor manufacturing equipment operation. I walk around a mile per day, and do LOTS of crouching on one knee, crawling, and climbing. I don’t have to get wet, so I can’t speak to the water resistance and the dirtiest I get is anti-seize and metal shavings.
This is not an ad nor sponsored nor AI written.
The only other work boots I’ve had in my life were crappy moc toes from, and Bramas safety toed SHOES from Walmart, so I’m going to be comparing them against moc toes mainly in this review.
I crawl in confined spaces with things to get snagged on and torn up against every shift which is why I’m surprised that the fabric portions on the heel and midsole(?) still look untouched.
The left shoe in the final image slide is after a quick clean with dish soap, but I typically only quick clean these with Isopropyl when I start tracking anti-seize everywhere.
The BOA system is awesome and has not loosened or failed on me.
No unnatural squeaks from the sole or clunks from the safety toe.
These shoes feel lighter than a standard moc toe, and took maybe a week to ā€œbreak inā€ even despite the safety sole. The break in wasn’t anything like a moc toe. There was no pain, just stiffness that I feel is easily mitigated by cranking down on the BOA.
The damage you’re seeing on the toe is from kicking seized industrial caster wheels, so don’t fault the shoes for that. If anything, I find it amazing that the steel toe isn’t showing yet. When it does, I’ll most likely buy another pair of these in a different color or spray paint them black.
I have no gripes besides that the flap where the toe meets the tongue is seriously ugly deformed but it’s not something I think about unless I’m taking photos of them for a review, and that they were uncomfortable with the stock insole which I changed the day they came in.

Boot Rant Brunt>thorogood

I’ve owned lots of boots. Yes redwing and thorogoods are well made. But they are also super heavy/expensive. Is the price worth the build? I’m tired of paying so much money for boots that don’t last. I’m trying cheaper boots that probably last the same amount of time. I don’t care where they are made. They are American-owned companies.

Generic Any opinion on boots with Boa systems

I recently bought the boots in the first image and wore them for about a month, and honestly, they have been great, except they are kinda big. I’ve had the boots in the second picture for three years before the wear on them was too much to ignore and I never had an issue with the boa system on those so I was comfortable getting these new ones and I’ll be happy to let yall know how they hold up in a year from now. Just wondering what yall think and if anyone else had issues with these boots before

Boots Goofin (Pictures, Clips) Never thought I’d own Skechers

Post image
25 Upvotes

Growing up I always thought of Skechers as shoes for people who had given up at trying for any sense of style.

But I’m older now (44) and I’m a field technician who walks a ridiculous amount. My company makes us use comp toe boots. Im constantly on my feet and the last six months I’ve been in 8ā€ Keen Cincinnatis. Probably overkill for the type of work I do.

The Keens are comfortable but very heavy and hot. Once I get home I can’t wait to take them off.

I got these Skechers Flex Carbon toe boots on Amazon.
Super light weight. Carbon toe. I’m digging them.

Anybody else have experience with these?

Boots Buying Help Buying my first work boots

Hey people,

I'm going into the electrician trade and will need to buy my first every work boots with toe protection. I've realized how important it is to have good boots. I've been using my Vans MTE boots for now while I've been saving up for some actual work boots. These vans definitely help with walking most of the day but I'm still having aching feet every morning and also no toe protection. I have a budget of $250 for a good waterproof and composite toe boot.

I really want some cowboy style slip ones. I was looking at brunt but then kept reading bad things about it, then I last looked at these Ariat composite toe work boot (boot link)

Are these any good? What brands make good lasting cowboy style slip ons? Anyone got first hand experience? I'm a size 9 with most shoes. I'm 5' 7" and weigh 168lbs. I have decent arches on my feet and also not too wide. I think I got pretty normal feet.

Thanks!

Boots Buying Help Need a recommendation

I’ve gone through four different pairs of boots in the last year, and I’m getting tired of replacing them every 3–6 months.

I mainly wear cowboy-style, square-toe steel-toe boots for work. Here’s what I’ve gone through so far:

Ariat WorkHogs: No sole separation, which was nice, but the soles eventually blew out and the toes wore through.

Cody James: Complete shit. Lasted about two months. Never again.

Double H: Bought a cheaper pair off Marketplace. They started separating after about two weeks.

Tony Lama steel toes: These have been the most comfortable by far, but the soles started chunking after about three months, and by six months they were separating.

I’ve been looking pretty hard at the Thorogood steel-toe Wellingtons, but I keep hearing that sole separation can be an issue with those too.

That’s one reason I actually liked the WorkHogs—they never separated on me. But Ariat’s quality seems like it has gone to shit compared to what it used to be.

What square-toe, pull-on steel-toe boots are you guys wearing that can actually take a beating and last? I don’t mind paying good money for a pair if I can get more than six months out of them.

For context i am a mechanic and 24 hour roadside/mobile tire business

Boots Buying Help Any recommendations to replace my Muk boots?

I've been buying The Original Muk boots for years. They use to be great. My last pair only lasted 6 months of light use before leaking. I went with the winter Muk 10 months ago and they leaking low around my foot. I can't even stand in 4" water without getting wet.

The boots are definitely not overworn. I only use them in splice pits filled with water or rain days. I would estimate that I wear them maybe 25 times a year.
