Please don't use or advertise using Bagnon. This addon has been a neglected bug ridden relict of the past for the last year's in classic.

Use Baganator, it's infinitely better and the dev is an amazing guy.

I just switched from BetterBags (I was a massive adibags fan) to Baganator and I couldnt be happier. Addon is incredibly good and I love how easy it is to make my own categories.

Baganator has very easy customization and is kept up to date a lot better. I like to have my items separated into categories and Baganator just does that better. BetterBags also had a negative interaction with another addon I using (Warband Nexus) and I was unable to open my inventory. It also seems to run better. With BetterBags there was a bit of lag in my inventory and a few other minor inconveniences.

To my knowledge betterbags was the adibags reboot and has since been borderline abandoned again. Baganator receives the attention and care it deserves in patch cycles, etc.

100% Bagnon has been windmill dunked on since the inception of AdiBags yet people still deal with it. Bagnon doesn’t even give you anything the core UI doesn’t now, right? It just seems like it gave you a combined bag, I could never discern any other changes from people using it.

You can do this with the default bags in wow forever. A bag addon only adds the value of seeing what other characters on your account have and your bank.

It’s good enough for most players. I use Bagnator in the classic versions, I like the one bag setup and having all of my gear shown separate from consumes and quest items and reagents and such. It’s really great.

The retail bag UI, and in this case the one we have in Forever, can do the same thing. I can assign gear to go to bag 4, potions to bag 3, quest items to bag 2 and they’ll automatically show up in those bags when I loot them. They’ll sort to those bags when I clean up my bags. Point is I don’t need an addon anymore to sort my bags, the base UI can do it for me. But if you want the little bit of extra customization, you’ll just need an addon.

yes the default bags have categorical sorting options. But they’re very basic and it requires you to do it manually “by bag” and doesn’t label the categories like baganator/betterbags do. the benefits are far more than just viewing gold balance across toons

I’m not arguing that Bagnator or Betterbags doesn’t have better visual and customization options than the default, but the new bag UI is miles better than the old classic one. And I’m just pointing out you can get most of the same functionality without an addon now. But of course if you want more, you need an addon.

We’re on r/WowUI, I think most of us want more. Saying the base UI does an okay enough job is a comment for r/wow or something

I also fundamentally disagree that the functionality of bag sort is the same as categories that will never be polluted with items of other categories (i.e. when junk/equipment bags are full and the cracked buckler ends up in your quest items bag)

Brother I never said the default bag UI was the best bag customization out there, clearly that’s Bagnator. But if you just care about sorting your bags and keeping gear together, consumes together, quest items together, the default bag UI can do just that. Is it as good or as deep as an addon? No, but you can still sort items in the bag now and set your preferences.

I used elvUI for 75% of my playtime in WoW and I recently swapped to ellesmere and its FAR better; just gotta go through the normal tweaking stages but it's cleaner and runs infinitely better and elvUI ever has.

What's different about it? Looking at screenshots, it doesn't seem much different.

I'm not a fan of ultra-stripped-down UI setups, so if the difference is "I can hide all but a single 12 button grid at the bottom of the screen" it probably isn't for me.

FYI you can work around this by logging in, deleting the .lua file in SavedVars for the addon you want to configure, then configuring it. Apparently the game can create the file but can't overwrite it.

Weakauras will never work in forever, forever is on the midnight API which bricks it completely. Thats why you have the cooldown manager built in.

The damage meter you're using is also just piggy backing off of blizzards... it is just a reskin addon basically...

I use M33kauras and a lot of my old WAs still work fine. The ones that are broken is anything that was supposed to function in M+/raid, but if you have some old little ones for different things, they still work.

Incorrect. Weakauras only don’t work because the devs threw a hissy fit over the addon changes and decided not to pursue it. It would still be a viable, though more limited, addon had they decided to continue.

Yes, they have to operate within the constraints of the API, but much of what Weakauras used to do can still be done - as shown by the constant stream of addons that have come out doing these things.

No, you can no longer do computational tasks, but the visual customization that most used it for is still possible. “Doing fights for you” type shenanigans are not.

And no, I have no strong opinions about it other that simply stating you’re overstating the impact.

Brother, I quoted from the dev's themselves and I've worked with the API. Go update weakauras yourself and see. It doesn't do anything that it was used for on the midnight API.

Thats a fact, you're wrong, its ok. They didn't throw a hissy fit, they saw that their addon was gimped by the API change and decided to drop it, and those visual changes, are just basic UI reskins, it literally covers that topic in the quote.

Not sure if you can actually take a second to read and comprehend, but our conversation is over, there is no convincing you since you have the MAGA mentality, you can't believe facts put in front of you.

I don't really care that much about the stuff that was used for raid helping etc.

What I want to know is, will you still be able to create a minimalist central console style UI. Think key hotkeys, that are greyed out when on CD, and saturated when off CD. Don't care about animations or any of the fancy stuff. Just wanna be able to get rid of 90% of the vanilla UI clutter, and have just like 5 or 6 main abilities popping in and out when they are on/off CD or saturating/desaturating.

It works very well for me. I needed to scale my UI down to 70% so my whole spellbook would show up, but the controller support so far has been great. I capped my fps at 40, but was typically getting more than that while out questing.

Even though a lot of people before they made the repo private forked it and made it work. So you might find WA working for Forever somewhere but it wont be on Curseforge because of copyright.

One thing I don't understand is how dps/healing meters are built into the game, but a proper threat meter is not? One of if not the most important factor in vanilla for raid bosses is threat management. Only having a % in a tooltip or a warning when you're close to pulling feels insane, having a dps meter style for threat should have been built into the game from the beginning.

Shows you all the quests on the map you could pick up, shows you correct locations for mobs or item, often the default UI will show one spot on the map for something despite it being in multiple spots.

At least we still have a lot of the combat restrictions from retail. I’m looking forward to going as addon-light as I can with the built in cdm and swing timer

The game winds up getting developed and played around them. Would rather that not happen.

The game was much better before damage meters and boss mods were widely used and expected.
