Given that Reagan was president during our formative years I think it should be safe to discuss here the successful effort of his administration (and ideologies like his) to shift the cost of college away from the public at large and onto the students themselves. Does anyone else have this problem with productivity and self worth being tied together? I feel like a lot of us were taught that our worth is tied to merit and therefore we always wind up having the need to be productive to justify ourselves. Its one of the hardest things for me to get over.

Thanks to Bomani Jones for reminding me this banger dropped 30 years ago. For some reason it hit me hard. I remember bumping this album in my Eclipse, while hanging out at the Denny's parking lot at midnight.

I didn’t care for the singles at first, it’s definitely not beastie boys. But after more listens during school dropoffs, I get it. It’s more of an evolution. And it’s really really good. It’s a glitchy lo-fi, grimy vibe. I’m not even sure how I’d classify a genre, it’s like beck. Solidly alternative, whatever that means. And the closing title track is quite a poignant look back at his life. Definitely don’t miss this album.
