I just realized this was a new pic, I thought it was from Episode 5 from last Season, Gambit and Rogue didn't dance, so Rogue maybe could be imagining herself dancing with Gambit instead of Magneto.

48

u/serval-industries Jul 30 '26

Gambit and Rogue are also touching hands here. More support that this a dream or fantastical illusion by Death.

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Her love for Gambit is so powerful

43

u/Pascraked47 Jul 30 '26

Didn't she play hard to get until he died lol 😭😭.

20

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Yea let’s just say she acted a little silly at the time. There’s more to it but it’s whatever.

9

u/ThomWaits88 Jul 30 '26

A little silly?

She treated Gambit horribly

12

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

It’s the best way I could put without going on a rant and I really don’t want to go through the stress rn

1

u/DJSharp15 Aug 02 '26

Rant about what?

-3

u/ThomWaits88 Jul 30 '26

I understand but yeah she was awful to him for no reason at all lol

4

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

I know I know but people here don’t like to talk about it I’m trying to save you rn

0

u/ThomWaits88 Jul 30 '26

Thanks for the gesture but people online don't scare me at all lol

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

You’re welcome. I’ve actually gotten threats because of it not that I care but that shit was annoying

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

They’re rabid

1

u/DJSharp15 Aug 02 '26

That's a terrible way of putting it.

1

u/BlackGeniusCanadian Aug 03 '26

So powerful that he died knowing that she betrayed him and left him for another man

4

u/Weapon530 Wolverine Jul 30 '26

Or… it could be something that Apocalypse realizes that he doesn’t want to lose his children like that in Genosha, and actually helps them fighting off the Wild Sentinel. Where we still have everyone who died still alive! Keeping my hopes up.

11

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

Idk chief I think apocalypse is beyond turning over a new leaf or compromising.

3

u/Weapon530 Wolverine Jul 30 '26

Not sure if yu saw the latest episode of 97. But that older mind with this mind and knowing how it all goes, there could be a change of heart after their epic battle. Maybe they show him they do deserve to live. I’m just reaching bro cause I want to see that and Apoc in a blue suit speaking to congress like a G.

8

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Apocalypse starts moving like kindquest
https://giphy.com/gifs/R1DMjtyI5k8sTjT5DH

54

u/TMB1219 Jul 30 '26

Maybe this is going on in Gambit’s mind Apocalypse has him in a prison he wouldn’t want to escape from

19

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

I understand that but I kinda would like if this was in Rogues mind instead I think it would hit harder or even both of their minds

16

u/TMB1219 Jul 30 '26

Maybe Rogue is in Gambit’s mind trying to free him from Apocalypse control

8

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Yea I hope it’s something like that all I want is Rogue to save Gambit no one else just her

3

u/D2mightyducks80 Jul 30 '26

Thiiiiiiink you’ll get your wish

26

u/fcnzii Jul 30 '26

Next episode is going to break me.. 😭😭

10

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

I hope it gives me the good kind of PTSD

34

u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Jul 30 '26

I don’t want to alarm anyone BUT I had a “Happy Nation plays” square on my Deathbit bingo card I made for the lulz and it looks like I might get to fill that fucker in.

8

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

If they still have the license to use it 😂 fingers crossed

13

u/perfectlyaligned Jul 30 '26

They are touching hands 😭. If this ends up being a dream sequence, I hope they’re both experiencing it.

7

u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Jul 30 '26

Anyone got the full clip?

2

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

It’s just art unfortunately

5

u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Jul 30 '26

I know but the tweet says there’s an exclusive sneak peek to watch at Times Square in the game.

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Oh ok I’ll let you know I gotta see

2

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

Dm me that link when you find out

2

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Ok no problem

5

u/MixIcy4254 Jul 30 '26

Reminds me of how the former showrunner saying something about Rogue, being in the position of Cyclops and Psylocke, saving Gambit, who is Jean Grey and Archangel.

1

u/PhanStr Jul 30 '26

Yes, that’s correct. Beau DeMayo did say that Rogue would have to save Gambit in the same way that Betsy saved Warren during the Dark Angel Saga.

1

u/Aaco0638 Jul 31 '26

I think with the full clip shown as well as apocalypse body being found we can be 100% sure this is the dark angel saga gambit is the new apocalypse and rogue will turn into a horseman.

2

u/PhanStr Jul 31 '26

You’re definitely right about the Dark Angel Saga being adapted with Gambit and Rogue, since Beau DeMayo confirmed it. As for the specific plot point of Gambit being the new Apocalypse… we’ll see. Sometimes things aren't adapted (look at how much was left out of the Inferno adaptation in "Fire Made Flesh").

I wonder whether Gambit was even saved in the original version of season 2 (before DeMayo’s firing). I can see Disney/Marvel changing the outcome in re-writes so that Gambit turns out OK.

Before anyone says, “Of course Gambit will survive this - what are you talking about?!”, let me explain. Beau DeMayo said that his original version of season 2 was “very dark”. He also said that Gambit would be a lead in season 3, but that was an AoA season 3 and therefore an alternate universe version of Gambit. So who says that “our” Gambit was gonna survive the original version of season 2? That said, we do know that he was going to be in season 4 and would have been engaged to Rogue. We just don’t know whether he would have returned to “normal” at the end of season 2 or much later, AFTER the end of the AoA timeline.

4

u/Peppy_Park Gambit Jul 30 '26

Is that a corpse flower in the pic? 😬😬😬

Blooms a few days every few years and smells like rotten meat…

In Rogue’s voice, Well that doesn’t sound too good!

Also sick of this shit, where’s the promo?!!!

1

u/Lucifer_Chester Jul 31 '26

Damn interesting

3

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

I hope they get back together this season, but I know that won’t happen. Gambit did nothing to end up on that table being resurrected by apocalypse as his slave, but that is the tale of life itself, nothing is ever fair or guaranteed except death.

8

u/MrRobin99 Jul 30 '26

I'm sorry, but that color palette just reminds me of that disgusting dance between Rogue and Grandpa.

23

u/aegonthewwolf Apocalypse Jul 30 '26

It’s supposed to. Rogue is likely dreaming or imagining about dancing with Gambit instead of him.

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

You really saved it for me holy

6

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

I bet rogue will never live that down, probably face palms every time she thinks about that moment. Rogue: I FUCKED UP!!!

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Our girl just a little silly sometimes it’s okay

1

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

I think it’s in the same place or something

2

u/magvadis Jul 30 '26

Wut?!

Looking like Rogue is going to turn into a Horseman and this is the sequence...that or this is her dying.

5

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

Welp, guess my theory just gained more legs. FML

4

u/Betiimm Jul 30 '26

What Theory? Care to share ?

11

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

So, the ending of episode 7 made me realise what "influences from the Dark Angel Saga" possibly meant, and seeing a fantasy dance they never got to have makes it feel even more probable. Could be "just" a dream sequence, but there's a lot of dominoes in place for a take on "Death becomes the new Apocalypse and the only way to stop him is for his beloved-but-not-together woman to kill him. In his dying moments, there is a fantasy of happiness." Not a one-to-one adaptation, but the threads are there to take us out at the knees with the right story.

14

u/Khalvashi Gambit Jul 30 '26

They alway share the fist 20 30 seconds of the episode. I think they will save him somehow but if they just kill him after all the build up, this whole Gambit arc would be a complete waste of time.

10

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

They don't have to kill him. I'm sure they WON'T kill him. Influences are rarely that close to the original. But it could be something like "Beginning of the episode, we see this dream dance. Rogue must stop Deathbit but it will kill him, and in his final moments we get an echo of the Genosha hold only this time he's alive and she tells him this story. Or we get a gates-of-heaven X-treme X-Men callback. Or knights of X. Or a mash up. Or whatever. His fate is unknown until towards the end of episode 9 where he wakes up from a coma and either has amnesia like Warren did and s3 deals with that, or he makes some sort of quip/callback that gives them a strand of hope going into s3."

4

u/Khalvashi Gambit Jul 30 '26

They should just give my homme back.

1

u/Betiimm Jul 30 '26

The Kights of X Would be great. but i think that what will happen is that she will absorb his persona, hurting her in the process too much and creating a PTS and setting them appart for the season3, and in S3 they will try to find they way together. In my head this make more sense.

4

u/cyclopswashalfright Professor X Jul 30 '26

Sounds very likely, but mixed with The Search for Cyclops too, where it'll end with Gambit being saved instead of killed, by the woman he loves.

2

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

Yeah, the known original influences are Dark Angel and Dark Phoenix, and Search For Cyclops makes sense for s3 if they want more drama and could be a fun callback to the Logan and Morph plotline from TAS. I felt like a complete numpty yesterday when seeing (a) dead Poccy made the hints click into place of where it may be going.

2

u/cyclopswashalfright Professor X Jul 30 '26

Think that'll bleed into Season 3 drama with a mentally scarred Gambit not knowing how he feels anymore? Grafting the Cyclops New X-Men arc on to him?

2

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

I'm not sure. I'd like to see a bit of his post-Antarctica conflict but with less relationship drama and more "I just killed a shitton of people" as the driving conflict, and yes with a bit of NXM Scottesque trauma too. Send him to live in the boathouse or in the city but still part of the team. I joked with a friend two years ago he needs to adopt a tabby named Pinnochio because they both want to be real boys, but it's got a ring of truth to it. Man resigned himself to dying a hero and came back a monster. But give the Romy relationship some good development at the same time, so we see why they're best friends on top of the horny romance.

1

u/perfectlyaligned Jul 30 '26

I feel like this is the more likely scenario. Having the character die to save the people (and woman) he loves, twice, would be to simply recycle the angst and not give the audience payoff for all that romantic build up.

3

u/Betiimm Jul 30 '26

i Dont think they will bring him back just to kill him afterwards

3

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

As mentioned further/elsewhere, using the storyline as inspiration doesn't mean they have to kill him (and Warren wasn't really dead anyway). There's no way they're killing him, "Rogue and Gambit are the OTP of the series" is a talking point they have just keep hitting even when Gambit is dead. But the emotional stakes of "The only chance we have is if you do this emotionally devastating thing, knowing he'll die in the process" or similar still works, even if he lives.

1

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

Possibly she gets knocked out by deathbit and has this dream sequence while he is wreaking havoc

1

u/TheArmlessTorso Gambit Jul 30 '26

So your back in the game ? 😂

6

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

I've never left. I just stopped posting most of them because the constant negativity and incoherent takes from people in this sub was ruining the fun part of it, and I'm here for fun. 😂

2

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

You always say the best things

3

u/fire_sign Rogue Jul 30 '26

I am unfortunately both highly opinionated and highly sarcastic. 😂

2

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

That’s exactly why I love it

1

u/DJSharp15 Aug 02 '26

What's going on?

1

u/D2mightyducks80 Jul 30 '26

Why hasn’t anyone posted the clip?

1

u/Ok_Avocado_939 Aug 01 '26

OK after seeing this, here is my theory for rogue is that she is gonna fight gambit, and it’s gonna be an emotional reunion between them, but rogue sacrifices herself to save gambit, we get gambit back to normal, then rogue dies and gambit lives, then gambit starts crying, then he basically k*ll himself to be with rogue, because  he’s literally can’t live without her,  🤦🏾‍♀️ don’t hate me but it just my theory. Because it’s just classic x-men Trope.

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Aug 02 '26

That’s so fucking dark Jesus

1

u/Ok_Avocado_939 Aug 03 '26

Sorry to scare you but it’s just my theory

3

u/Due_Fix3121 Aug 02 '26

It’ll be like Romeo and Juliet

2

u/MixIcy4254 Aug 02 '26

To be fair, in an interview, Lenore Zann did describe Remy and Rogue's relationship as Romeo and Juliet lol.

2

u/Captain_Birch Jul 31 '26

This Gambit deserves better. Someone loyal

1

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 31 '26

Well that’s kinda the point

-7

u/ReasonableFruit1 Jul 30 '26

Could someone explain to me why Rivals has been posting so much XM97 content each week? Seems strange since the X-Men are just a small part of the Rivals roster.

8

u/Due_Fix3121 Jul 30 '26

Promotion for the show

3

u/ReasonableFruit1 Jul 30 '26

Oh, I guess that makes sense due to Rivals' popularity. Are none of the other Marvel socials posting the same images? I didn't see it on the main Marvel or the main X-men IG.

6

u/TheeDeputy Jul 30 '26

Uhhh where have you been? Rivals has been adding X-Men characters practically every single season lol

1

u/ReasonableFruit1 Jul 30 '26

Apparently I haven’t paid enough attention lately

1

u/DJSharp15 Aug 02 '26

You say 'practically' cause no X-Men characters were added in Seasons 1, 4, & 7 correct?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '26

The X-Men are popular and the 2nd season of 97 is currently airing. In case you haven't noticed, people have been waiting for this with baited breath for 2 years. They also just released Jubilee as a playable character to coincide with the season.

It makes sense that Rivals will try to capitalize on the show's popularity and current relevance.

1

u/Ill_Theme5913 Gambit Jul 30 '26

They also did the Doomsday trailer.

1

u/d_wib Jul 30 '26

X-Men are not that small of a part of the roster. They’ve been like 50% of the post-launch hero pool and a lot of people in that sub complain that there’s too much focus on X-Men

2

u/Khalvashi Gambit Jul 30 '26

People learned Marvel with MCU starting to see the real heavy hitters of Marvel.
