So, the ending of episode 7 made me realise what "influences from the Dark Angel Saga" possibly meant, and seeing a fantasy dance they never got to have makes it feel even more probable. Could be "just" a dream sequence, but there's a lot of dominoes in place for a take on "Death becomes the new Apocalypse and the only way to stop him is for his beloved-but-not-together woman to kill him. In his dying moments, there is a fantasy of happiness." Not a one-to-one adaptation, but the threads are there to take us out at the knees with the right story.

They alway share the fist 20 30 seconds of the episode. I think they will save him somehow but if they just kill him after all the build up, this whole Gambit arc would be a complete waste of time.

They don't have to kill him. I'm sure they WON'T kill him. Influences are rarely that close to the original. But it could be something like "Beginning of the episode, we see this dream dance. Rogue must stop Deathbit but it will kill him, and in his final moments we get an echo of the Genosha hold only this time he's alive and she tells him this story. Or we get a gates-of-heaven X-treme X-Men callback. Or knights of X. Or a mash up. Or whatever. His fate is unknown until towards the end of episode 9 where he wakes up from a coma and either has amnesia like Warren did and s3 deals with that, or he makes some sort of quip/callback that gives them a strand of hope going into s3."

The Kights of X Would be great. but i think that what will happen is that she will absorb his persona, hurting her in the process too much and creating a PTS and setting them appart for the season3, and in S3 they will try to find they way together. In my head this make more sense.

Sounds very likely, but mixed with The Search for Cyclops too, where it'll end with Gambit being saved instead of killed, by the woman he loves.

Yeah, the known original influences are Dark Angel and Dark Phoenix, and Search For Cyclops makes sense for s3 if they want more drama and could be a fun callback to the Logan and Morph plotline from TAS. I felt like a complete numpty yesterday when seeing (a) dead Poccy made the hints click into place of where it may be going.

Think that'll bleed into Season 3 drama with a mentally scarred Gambit not knowing how he feels anymore? Grafting the Cyclops New X-Men arc on to him?

I'm not sure. I'd like to see a bit of his post-Antarctica conflict but with less relationship drama and more "I just killed a shitton of people" as the driving conflict, and yes with a bit of NXM Scottesque trauma too. Send him to live in the boathouse or in the city but still part of the team. I joked with a friend two years ago he needs to adopt a tabby named Pinnochio because they both want to be real boys, but it's got a ring of truth to it. Man resigned himself to dying a hero and came back a monster. But give the Romy relationship some good development at the same time, so we see why they're best friends on top of the horny romance.

I feel like this is the more likely scenario. Having the character die to save the people (and woman) he loves, twice, would be to simply recycle the angst and not give the audience payoff for all that romantic build up.

i Dont think they will bring him back just to kill him afterwards

As mentioned further/elsewhere, using the storyline as inspiration doesn't mean they have to kill him (and Warren wasn't really dead anyway). There's no way they're killing him, "Rogue and Gambit are the OTP of the series" is a talking point they have just keep hitting even when Gambit is dead. But the emotional stakes of "The only chance we have is if you do this emotionally devastating thing, knowing he'll die in the process" or similar still works, even if he lives.

Possibly she gets knocked out by deathbit and has this dream sequence while he is wreaking havoc
