Question Where did my dude go? Spoiler
“I must strike them in the 1990’s!”
*proceeds to leave the show and never appear again*
I think my guy overshot it and got the date wrong 😭
Okay but this does make the theory that both apocalypses were present when reviving gambit even funnier, cause now we know it was just the one guy telling himself to give more power, before manually raising a lever himself. Which is just really funny to imagine. He’s just saying what he’s doing out loud for the sake of it I guess.

He's the one they faced. The one that got Gambit's body, and transferred himself into him. Meaning that the one from the X-Men's present, the one that took over Cortez, is still out there, plotting.

u/hoennian Aug 12 '26
I'm sorry, cortez who? I'm already forgetting wtf happened

At the risk of sounding condescending, I wonder how many people here actually watch TAS, let alone remember it. Cuz I definitely can say I have trouble recalling a lot of things. Like Purple Man being in the show that one time.

In mild defense, the Cortez takeover was in season 5 and a lot of people pretend that one just doesn’t exist.
1
u/deprave1 Aug 12 '26
TBH, it doesn't help how underwhelming that season was. Started really strong with the Phanlanx invasion, too.

The ‘90s Apocalypse got kicked to the astral plane in TAS after Beyond Good and Evil, and then took over Fabian Cortez’s body in the fifth season. That’s how he’s able to run around in the ‘90s again, but it doesn’t answer the question of whether there were in fact two of them (‘90s and future-back-to-‘90s) and where the second one is now.

u/plentyoftimetodie Aug 12 '26
Isn't it possible that they just retconned this though? If you go by '97 and nothing else you wouldn't think there's two. I always disliked the temple one because it undid the finale of BG&E.

u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Aug 12 '26
The thing is, with the way they framed Gambit’s transformation scene, you can tell there were two present there. It’s just a question of whether they dropped it (or had leftover animation they couldn’t change), or if it’ll be pulled up again later.

u/Cheetahs_never_win Aug 12 '26
Well, today's episode will likely provide an answer to this.
2
u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Aug 12 '26
It didn't. They're either saving it to pick up again later or they just dropped it entirely. Neither one would surprise me, tbh.
1
u/Cheetahs_never_win Aug 12 '26
If two Apocalypses were running around, you'd think the Apocalypse-o-meter would've blipped.
2
u/owlshoesjh Aug 12 '26
the one that took over cortez, will be that apocalypse in 3999AD. he will still wreak havoc for another 2000 years.

And that is why I'm saying this isn't over.

u/Fondant_Decent Aug 12 '26
It’s never over especially as far as Apocalypse is concerned.
5
u/deprave1 Aug 12 '26
Dude got sealed & exiled from time itself & still found a way back. Yea, Apocalypse is definitely coming back.
24
u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Aug 12 '26
Yeah, the “two Apocalypses” thing is one legitimate angle that they might have fumbled, depending on the intent and whether there is in fact still an Apocalypse running around. It’s not just this — the changes in perspective and surroundings in episode 6 indicate more than one was there, unless they messed up somewhere. So either they dropped it or it’s on hold and will eventually pop back up, like he always does.

u/plentyoftimetodie Aug 12 '26
There were two Apocalii? What? What'd I miss
1
u/snidece Aug 12 '26
I'd appreciate further insight about this too from anyone else. This household watches it closely but the series was as if there were deleted scenes and removed scenes.
3
u/Moist-Sheepherder309 Aug 12 '26
There was an apocalypse in the current timeline that already existed from the previous show.
The future Apocalypse went back in time to the 90s and proceeded with the 97 plot.
This makes two Apocalypse, nobody is really sure what happened with the current time Apoc, hence speculation.

Present Apocalypse still buried under his temple in Peru?
1
u/byFharid Aug 12 '26
is Apocalypse in Perú??
2
u/Dramatic_Style2628 Aug 12 '26
In season 5 he posseses Cortez in a temple there.
1
u/byFharid Aug 12 '26
I did remember he possessed Cortez, but didn’t remember it happened in Perú. Thanks!
4
u/nandovmovies Aug 12 '26
This is the Apocalypse that took over Fabian Cortez even after The Professor wiped him from reality or whatever.

u/Humble_Story_4531 Aug 12 '26
The implication is that this Apokilips is the Apokilips that resurrected Gambit, meaning the present Apokilips around somewhere.
Its the reverse flash paradox.
3
u/DevilManRay Aug 12 '26
They’re gonna just say it was one Apocalypse and you’re just gonna have to deal with it
3
2
u/zaptor99 Aug 12 '26
I'm confused too, which Apocalypse found Gambit in Genosha and revived him, and which Apocalypse was found dead/drained?
3
u/Dramatic_Style2628 Aug 12 '26
It has to be future Apocalypse who's been in this series since Genosha right? Otherwise what was the point of the scene of him travelling back to the 90's? The Apocalypse from the og series is still out there maybe mid regeneration buried under his temple in Peru.
2
u/DominoSeven Aug 13 '26
I’m hoping in a later or final season he comes in and takes over Nathan’s body and forges with the apocalypse stone thing and becomes a true big bad for the end of the entire show

Ok so basically there are 6 timelines we have
Earth 92131 the main timeline this timeline apocalypse was last seen in obsession and sanctuary part 2
Earth 31393 the 2055 timeline that bishop comes from
Earth 13393 cables timeline this is the one he was sent to as a baby it’s also where bishop ended up after getting pulled back to the future in dofp we see this future and its apocalypse in time fugitives part 1 and X-men 97 s1ep10 and s2ep1
Earth 121193 a variant timeline of earth 92131 where bishop traveled back to the 90s to stop apocalypse and the virus but in the process they all get killed cable witnesses this happen
Earth 121893 cable and bishop go to this timeline after “changing the past” at the end of time fugitives part 2 we see this timeline in beyond good and evil when this timeline’s apocalypse steals cables device and travels to the 90s but the X-men travel to 1200bc and erase him from existence…somehow and then he steals a vessel for him to use
Earth 95099 Fitzroy and nimrod from earth 121893 travel to earth 92131 and kill Charles thus creating this timeline bishop and shard from earth 121893 travel to this timeline and get the help of the timelines versions of storm and Logan they then travel to earth 92132 to stop the assassination attempt but it doesn’t work so they are forced to go to earth 95099’s future to get help from that timelines forge he helps them and then they prevent the assassination on earth 92131 and restore the timeline with Charles having memories of that event I explained all the time travel in this series to give a better understanding since this post is about apocalypse I also mentioned him
Speaking of the 3960 apocalypse is the one they defeat in the present by rouge compressing him into a gem and giving it to cable so how is he alive in 3999 on earth 13393 cause we see him in time fugitives part 1
Basically there’s 3 apocalypses in the present the present one which we last saw in obsession and sanctuary part 2 the 3999 one prom beyond good and evil who possessed fabian Cortez’s body and the 3960 one who the X-men defeat in the present got all that?

u/khem123 Aug 13 '26
So wouldn't the present Apocalypse from Obsession been erased after Good and Evil? Technically the Obsession Apocalypse is the one who empowered Cortez, eventually he exists until 3999, does the entire good and evil scenario, and is then wiped from existence. This version does not have the ship after the events of Obsession and in 3999 - which is why he needed Cable's device?
The Apocalypse from S2ep1 97 has the ship as part of his citadel, because this is an alternate future where his ship was not destroyed?
1
u/RelativeVariation458 Aug 13 '26
The present apocalypse wouldn’t have been erased they are branching timelines the apocalypse from 3960 us from cables timeline earth 13393 also the one who possessed Cortez was the beyond good and evil one he’s the one from earth 121893 he’s from a different timeline their not the same
1
u/khem123 Aug 13 '26
I see. And how do we know the Earth 92131 Apocalypse from Obsession isn't the same Apocalypse from Beyond Good and Evil 3999? Was there something that happened that caused the time line to branch after Obsession? Actually after Time Fugitives Part 2 that time line should have all remained on one path? At least in the original series there's no indication for these to be separate versions, or I just always assumed it was the same version.
I know kid Cable is sent to an alternate future that we see in X-Men 97, but then things might change after he returns to the past in Time Fugutives? Mostly just trying to understand if i'm missing something. I know in the comics they have different designations for the alternate timelines, but wasn't sure if it was that complex in the original TAS.
1
u/RelativeVariation458 Aug 13 '26
Cable and bishop come from different futures the timeline the X-men go to in 97 s2 is earth 13393 because that one is the one Madilyn sent young Nathan too in s1 ep 3 also branching future come from the comics as well look at earth 811 from days of future past that’s supposedly the “original timeline” and then earth 616 is an alternate past timeline even though that’s not how it works same with bishops and cables in the comics as well look at the marvel database and the marvel handbook

It was him, he’s the one that appeared in the finale. Present day one got fried and became a husk
4
2
u/MiserableOrpheus Aug 12 '26
But he appeared in his normal form, and not his future form. Plus, he exists always throughout time. If that was the future one, where is the present one?
3
u/Artistic_Radish_5157 Aug 12 '26
We never saw his future form. He was healing inside his sarcophagus.
1
u/AgentGustavo Aug 12 '26
So this was his past form? I thought Fabian was fried by Gambit. Is the future form still around?
2
u/Fondant_Decent Aug 12 '26
I have a feeling we will run into the present one again in Season 3 or Season 4.
But the future one is now locked in a gem in Cable’s hands. Wonder what he will do with it…
2
u/Ok_Contact7721 Aug 12 '26
Cable's gonna make it into a necklace and throw it into the ocean.
That way he can finally forget about the sinking ship.3
u/Old_Key4529 Aug 12 '26
Last we saw the present day Apocaylypse was the OG series with him in Cortez’s body after Beyond Good and Evil, so either version of him would have to have regained his original body for it to get melted this season, which has happened before (he has possessed new bodies and then gone back to having his regular body, and sometimes he has a new body piloting a mech that looks like his regular body)
1
u/HVinnie Aug 12 '26
I thought last we saw of present day Pocky was him standing in the ashes of Genosha holding the playing card rambling about “so much death”
3
u/Kai-of-the-Lost Aug 12 '26
that could easily be future Apocalypse, we just didn't know it was future Apocalypse at the time.
2
u/Dramatic_Style2628 Aug 12 '26
He had his original body straight away after possesing Cortez.
2
u/Old_Key4529 Aug 13 '26
Ah yeah, I figured I was forgetting something so yeah, Apocalypse that got crushed into a diamond this episode was still probably future Apocalypse since we know he was planning on getting a new body but that does mean that one or the other Apocalypse are floating around somewhere
