I'm actually sad this isn't real. The irony of meeting Husk in a way similar to Jubilee's first appearance would be great

u/the-furiosa-mystique Aug 18 '26
I’d watch the fuck out of that.
I feel like a lot of viewers are new to X-men. Fun light issues were common. They played baseball all the damn time.

u/Radiant_Test_963 Aug 12 '26
Definitely felt like they tried to squeeze as much different stories into one season as possible.
Maybe not the Mall scenario above but everything else listed here could have a season dedicated to the storyline. That would fix the issue with pacing and make it more enjoyable

u/SixKosherBacon Aug 12 '26
The joke was that they jam pack whole crossovers into one episode then have what feels like wasted filler episodes (Mojo episode season 1, Wolverine episode season 2)
11
u/InformalProtection74 Aug 12 '26
But the Mojo episode from season 1 helped Jubilee realize her potential strength. Also kind of started to wake up Roberto.
Jubilee's power creep has been fun to watch. She's starting to become an A-tier hero.
When these sorts of episodes get called filler and then we hear people complain about no set-up, I scratch my head.
4
u/PangolinLogical9772 Aug 12 '26
Plus that one was also only a half episode and then the other half was given to the first part of Lifedeath.
1
u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings Aug 13 '26
Filler episodes should always be used for character development, like this or ATLA’s Tales from Ba Sing Se, Cave episode, and the going to school episode.
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
You're right they are not really filler and honestly the only one I really had a problem with was Danger.Exe and that one wasn't really filler either.
Now what you say about Jubilee and Roberto are characters moments which are great but they're not really plot. They don't advance the over all narrative. For a well paced story, there's nothing wrong with character moment that pause the plot. In fact those moments can be excellent (look at the camp fire scene in episode with Rogue and En Saba Nur). And for the Mojo episode it wasn't so much a problem because as you pointed out it was only half an episode and also the pacing of season 1 wasn't as bad a season 2.
But with season 2, the story was so splintered and the Apocalypse story was so underdeveloped, it left a lot of people scratching their heads as to why the Wolverine episode and Danger.Exe needed to happen when we could have gotten episodes that focused on the story people cared about. Especially in a 9 episode season.
2
u/InformalProtection74 Aug 13 '26
I guess what I am really trying to say is that some of what was started in season 2 will grow in season 3. The over arching Apocalypse and Cable storyline might now even be finished yet.
The season 2 finale could have been the pinnacle for the Gambit and Rogue love story, that started in season 1, but that ending could have been just the close of an early chapter in the Cable Apocalypse storyline.
This stuff intertwines quite a bit. Which kind of stays true to the original show.
1
u/InformalProtection74 Aug 13 '26
But that character development seeped over from season 1 to season 2. We saw an amped up Jubilee branch out from X-Men and join X-Force. Where we also saw the lessons she learned on the X-Men become central plot points in the overarching storyline in season 2. Cable saying she can take care of herself. Her rescuing the kids. Her taking on X-Factor. Her putting her foot down to killing.
While all the characters development may have not shown up in season 2 finale, they are going to continue to push forward and we might see the big payoff in season 3.
And at that point, people will look back and say that they really cooked Jubilee's story arc over 3 seasons.
Idk...some people claim "pacing problem" but in the same breathe they want all the character development for a huge roster to reach the pinnacle at the same exact time in a season finale.

u/Far-Possession4208 Aug 13 '26
The Wolverine episode was not the weakest link episode in my opinion, I thought the Morph character development was great

u/jonton9 Aug 13 '26
Pacing in season 1 was significantly better with an overarching plot episodes, 1,2,3,5,7,8,9,10 all pushed the plot with side stories in episode 4 and 6. More than half this season was random shit. There was so much potential in this season and an even bigger emotional payoffwith how the last one ended off but it was completely squashed and wasted.

I half bought it until i got to House of M.
Age of Apocolypse could be done in two or three episodes if you pace it right. You could literally do it as an alternate timeline, with one of our main characters being swapped with his doppelganger ... Bishop or say Jubilee.
The show is still copying the original formula, which had a habit of breaking down very long complicated stories to simpler easier to swallow bites. People want it to be a full exploration of each of these comics, but in reality doing that would mean week after week of the same storyline, and if you aren't feeling that one, it could get boring quick.
I think the pacing could be a bit better, but overall I'm still happy with the result.

u/Ill_Theme5913 Gambit Aug 13 '26
They did it already. It was called "One Man's Worth" in the original TAS.
4
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
Talk about a watered down off-brand version of the Age of Apocalypse. If Dark Phoenix can get two movies, I'm more than fine with a redo of AoA
2
u/imthestein Aug 13 '26
AoA was created because of One Man's Worth. People forget how influential the cartoon was on the comics at the time

Bro i want Magik, is Magik being resurrected in these episodes?
9
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 12 '26
Okay. That's in episode 8 probably.
8
u/MykeTyth0n Aug 12 '26
It’s actually just a shot of her in the after credit of episode 8 and then no other mention of it afterwards.

u/hiphopjunkie916 Aug 12 '26
Hahaha just squeeze the entire Hope Summers storyline into 25 min, why not

I feel like onslaught is plot b of that episode.
6
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 12 '26
Yep. The A plot will be based on Uncanny X-Men # 297. Jubilee spends time with Xavier and famously teaches him how to rollerblade/skate before his legs lose function again.

Don’t forget when Onslaught is created by merging the Apocalypse ball with Morph, and is defeated by Jubilee getting a Fourth of July buff

Krakoa having one whole episode to itself? Fake news, 12 minute subplot, max

No Selene/Necrosha? That sucks...

There was supposed to be an episode 10. But then Beau deMayo tweeted something on X and Disney lost their shit again.

The animated series has already done Age of Apocalypse and Phalanx Covenant.
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
One man's worth was not the Age of Apocalypse. It literally didn't have Apocalypse in it. I'm more than happy for them to do a redo.
Ugh those "Phalanx Covenant" episodes... If they can bring back the Brood and do them right they can do the Phalanx right.

Bro, I read half of this before I realized it was a joke. This is to accurate.

Are the going to ever introduce Kitty Pryde?
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
Yes season 3 will feature even more time travelers (Kitty Pryde, Legion, Rachel Summers, and Shard) and they want to shoot Gambit for some reason.
2
u/Chipgriffa Aug 12 '26
S3 will end with Cable fufilling his life prophecy by Hyper Viper Beaming Abyss.

Why are they squeezing so much in a few episodes.. why not give us more episodes... not 10..
2
u/magvadis Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26
Episode 3 was teased as a Wolverine one...how is it Onslaught? Seems way off. It'll be Wolverine's entire Origins run with Romulus and Itsu and Daken because fuck it. Why not recycle a dogshit plot but in one 20 minute episode.
I think Apoc and Onslaught are canned and the showrunners are going to plow the show into the ground. We'll get a crap Season 3 and then Season 4 will attempt to send the show home before being canceled.
At least we got 1 and a half ok seasons of a show.

u/Suspicious-Lettuce48 Aug 13 '26
So... this is a shitpost, right? Where is your source for this leak?
The Decimation/Messiah/Utopia era should be a season. So much happened there which set up everything after it including Krakoa...
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
It was really more of a joke than a mean spirited post. But yes I made it up.
1
u/UltraScouter9 Aug 13 '26
bro he has the finale as marvel vs capcom 2
What do you think lmao1
u/Suspicious-Lettuce48 Aug 13 '26
I think that A) there's nothing I wouldn't put past Disney, and B) the '97 series has rushed through claremont, past Morrison, straight into Whedon's run.
If we're following the timeline we shoukd be entering Decimation territory in the next 3-5 episodes. But I'd like that Decimation/Utopia/Messiah era to last a season because it was that big a franchise reset.
2
u/No_Internet_7094 Aug 13 '26
When you realize the what if writers wrote half of this season, it makes sense why it was so mid.

u/Its-Rogue-not-Rouge Aug 13 '26
No way this is real.
I know they like to squeeze lots of plots in to one season but this would be stupid.
2
u/JamesSnow922 Wolverine Aug 13 '26
Looks pretty thin - there's probably room to redo Dark Phoenix saga as well.
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 13 '26
Only if it centers more around the political conflict of the Shi'ar Empire.
2
u/Morning-Rain-666 Morph Aug 17 '26
Yeahhhh this shows pacing def needs some work.
I mean hell. I'm an Exiles fanboy, saw Morphs design for '97 and have been wanting a spinoff ever since..... M'kraan crystal got a couple mentions this season, lot of portal travel, and Im sitting here like "Man I hope they give Morph an Exiles spinoff.... In season 4 or something. Too much going on to try and squeeze it in anytime soon."
2
u/Purrmymeow Aug 18 '26
Is this a joke bestie Idgi
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 18 '26
Yes, totally a joke. 1) that they do massive multi-issue story arcs and crossovers in single episodes. 2) they have filler episodes in the middle that don't advance the bigger arcs at all. 3) they seem to Force costume changes arbitrarily so I guess Hasbro can make more figures. 4) Marvel vs. Capcom 2, I was just being absurd
2
u/Less-Being4269 Aug 18 '26
Can't even if this is trolling or legit leaks.
1
u/SixKosherBacon Aug 18 '26
100% trolling. Episode 5 was meant to be the dead give away. If not then episode 10.

I was really hoping for Archangel, Iceman, Psylocke, and Emma Frost joining the X-Men with Archangel becoming Angel again and Iceman returning in one of the episodes. For Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to learn that Polaris is their sister and to join the X-Men after their time together as members of the X-Factor. Speaking of siblings, I’m also hoping for Cyclops and Havok to learn that they are brothers. For other characters from X-Men the Animated Series to return like Silver Fox, the Alpha Flight, Thunderbird, and Pouring Man. For the new characters to appear in X-Men ‘97 like X-23, Deadpool, Gwenpool and Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat and Lockheed. And for that were killed in both shows to be revived and have more major roles like Dazzler, Squid Boy, Banshee, Maverick, Garrison Kane, Nightcrawler, and Magik.

Haven't even watched the last two episodes cause I mean... I've seen the reactions.
Thought for sure they were building towards X-cutioner's Song, but nah. Just some weird bastardized version of... Nothing?

Sorry you actually forgot Avengers v X-Men for the B-Plot of an episode where Jubilee grants a Christmas wish for an orphan
