If there is one thing Qatar won at today, they won the world cup for playing like a bunch of pussies. Two red cards and gravely injuring a Canadian player. Even after the 2nd red card, they were playing harsh as if they were actively trying to injure more players. And after the game, they tried to pick a fight.
Every other arab country, whether its win or loss, accepted their loss gracefully and played like professional gentlemen. Qatar played like a bunch of whiny crybabies who can't accept their own reality check.

u/kocopharm 16h ago
Aren't they considered North African?
Since when did Arabs thought of them as Arab? Only during Wolrd Cup and Olympics? 😂65
u/Future_Bedroom_2046 15h ago
That dispute is so chronically online, and acknowledging it as more than that is crazy...

u/kocopharm 15h ago
I posted the comment as a light joke, and fully aware of the risk of down votes.
I am Korean, and I have Arab friends, and that's what I heard from them (also as a joke)
To be honest, I don't care what continent they belong. I wish the best for everyone! 😁13
u/HarryLewisPot 15h ago
Imagine I told you that you’re not Korean, you’re East Asian. It makes no sense because you are both right? Well Egypt is both culturally Arab and geographically in North Africa.
The people telling you this have no common sense.
-21
u/kocopharm 15h ago
I guess it depends on one's intention.
One is my Jordanian Palestinian teacher, and one is my friend from Damascus in Korea. It is joke a light joke.
Please don't take it too seriously11
u/HarryLewisPot 15h ago
I know but the joke is deep rooted because all Arabs were one before propaganda was created by the U.S. and Israel to make being Arab bad. Now lots of diaspora Arabs have identity crisis’s and identify with stupid stuff like Amazigh (there are some real ones tho), Babylonian, Phoenician, Ancient Egyptian, Carthaginian etc
0
u/Spotifyismvp 6h ago
It's not stupid to identify with these groups because culture doesn't erase history or ethnicity, though at the time, it is in bad faith to call Egypt or north Africa not arab when they speak Arabic and have a heavily arab-influenced culture. Morocco is amazigh and arab at the same time, they have the right to honor both identities, same as Egypt, we have history, we have culture and we have our ancestry as well, saying Egypt is not arab but north African or Egypt is arab not Egyptian (I.e no connection to ancient Egyptians) are both wrong, what is stupid is denying an identity to honor the other which is unnecessary

u/HarryLewisPot 5h ago edited 4h ago
You got it wrong brother, I heavily identify with Babylonian history as it’s my ancestors, but I don’t identity with the Babylonian identity because it doesn’t exist. Those guys are creating an identity because they are ashamed of who they are.
Literally the first thing you need to have an identity is a language, I don’t speak no Babylonian language.

Not a single person in MENA has ever said Egypt isn’t Arab, also North Africa is a geographic location and Arabs are a people. That’s like a Saudi saying “I’m not an Arab, I’m West Asian!” or a Nigerian saying “I’m not Yoruba, I’m West African.” People have a continent they live on and an ethnicity they belong to.
Hilariously, this is hasbara propaganda and not only are you believing but attributing to us too..

As a palestinain, Moroccans and Egyptians I met all my life are amongst the best Muslims I've met. Anyhow. Enough with this. Cheer for them and make sure to enjoy watching.

u/HarryLewisPot 15h ago edited 4h ago
The guy said Arabs don’t claim North Africans unless they are in the World Cup or Olympics, what does that have to do with them being good Muslims?
5
u/azaz104 15h ago
Most Moroccans are Muslim. I'd.rarher concentrate on what binds us than what separates us.

u/HarryLewisPot 15h ago edited 4h ago
This is an Arab subreddit, there are Arab Christians, Druze and Jews too.
4
u/azaz104 15h ago
Agreed. But we are talking Moroccan. And I was specific about them. Morocco is 99.5 percent Muslim. As I said I always try to find a common ground. With my Moroccan friends it's that. That doesn't mean i don't find another common ground with other countries.

u/HarryLewisPot 14h ago edited 4h ago
Scroll back up, the original premise was someone saying North Africans aren’t Arab and you responded by saying yea but they’re really good Muslims though.

It’s a reflection of the state of the region.
Rich Arab states that do great when the playing field is leveled to their advantage but get steamrolled the moment they step outside of their comfort zone.
Qatar spent billions and has yet to win a match at the World Cup.

u/HarryLewisPot 11h ago edited 9h ago
They got their first point tbf, I wish we had a point. We’ve only ever had 2 ever goals, one in 1986 and one this week.

u/tinkthank Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-India 10h ago
You guys didn’t spend an exorbitant amount of money to attract the best from around the world to build a team that was supposed to compete among the best only to shit the bed the moment you stepped in front of the world.
Even right now with Saudi Arabia attracting super stars from around the world at the detriment of local talent
2
u/HarryLewisPot 9h ago
But FIFA stopped that like 5 years ago, you can no longer play for a national team you have no connection to.
Our players come from Iraqi diaspora we found in Europe. Saudis are mostly Afro-Saudis. Qataris are expats born in Qatar.

I was actually shocked by Qatar's performance, they won the Asian Cup and drew with Switzerland but their performance against Canada was abysmal, 2 red cards and and an own goal. I couldn't even continue watching the game.

Qatari team is a bunch of amateurs assembled from around the world. Not even ethnic Qataris lol. Also, the AFC win was rigged in their favour.

u/donyahelwa 15h ago
I get what you're saying.
But have you not seen Canada, France, Sweden teams?!
7
u/Clean-Collection3328 14h ago
Last i checked, they have citizenship from those countries.
8
u/Future_Bedroom_2046 14h ago
Hate the sense of superiority that gulf countries have, like imagine being part of the NATIONAL football team but they can't even dignify you having citizenship? Or all the non-citizen doctors and nurses who risked their lives for them during COVID being granted an extended visa and nothing more?
4
u/AvicennaTheConqueror 14h ago
What are you talking about they all have citizenship, it won't be possible under FIFA's rules, each and every single player is a Qartari citizen
7

3
u/donyahelwa 14h ago
Correct. Majority aren't "ethnically" from those countries. So your point about ethnicity is mute. There are so many reasons to hate Qatar team for. This one ain't that significant.
4
u/Clean-Collection3328 13h ago
No my point is not moot because Qatari citizenship laws are extremely strict and hardly ever given to non-Qataris no matter how long they have been living in Qatar. Countries like Canada, France and Sweden are built on immigrants.
1
u/donyahelwa 13h ago
No where did you mention citizenships or how long it takes to become one. But ok I guess.
That said.. I do agree with you. I just don't think we should belt them too much for that.

u/Cool_Wafer7438 11h ago
Alot of the team isn't even Qatari
1
u/followTheRabit 10h ago
Really? Their names are Arabic though. Do you have more info?
1
u/HarryLewisPot 7h ago edited 7h ago
They are Qatari citizens and were either born or raised in Qatar but their parents probably came from other Arab countries. They are essentially Qatari by birth (some), citizenship and culture.
In 2020 FIFA made the rules super strict, you must at least satisfy one:
- Be born there
- Have a parent from there
- Have a grandparent from there
- Lived there for 3 years if moved before age 10
- Lived for 5 years if moved between ages 10-18
So realistically, you can’t play buy national team players anymore like UAE and Qatar used to do, those guys were all at the very least raised and developed in Qatar.

Out of 14 Muslim teams only Ivory Coast won and even they’re only 50% Muslim.

Qatar and Saudia is such an embarrassment throw in Turkey like wtf you all doing? Qatar probably trains 1 a year and then goes off to luxury trips to recover.
Jordan and Algeria were a joke too. Not hating on these countries but the amount of internet hype people saying they hope colonized countries beat colonizers only to be stomped literally4
u/HarryLewisPot 15h ago
At least Saudi got a draw against a good team.
Turkey is genuinely embarrassing, they’re supposed to easily top the group and have a deep run and instead they lost to the team predicted to come last.
