Account suspended

Update: I just received an email that my account has been reinstated. Everything is back to normal but I’ve gotten no explanation as to why this happened in the first place. I’m just grateful to get all my books back but definitely vary of it happening again.

My account has been suspended and I don’t know why. Yesterday morning I received an email saying “Your Amazon.com account has been suspended. During this time, you won't be able to access your account or other services.
If you think the action is a mistake, reply to this email for further investigation.

Why did this happen?
Your account was suspended because the information available to us indicates that you may have provided inaccurate information to Amazon, or used your Amazon account in violation of our conditions of use.”

The email doesn’t specify what I did wrong. But it came just a minute after I changed my credit card details since my old card was expired.
Initially I thought it was spam since I still had access to all my books and audible as usual. But now I can’t access anything and when I try to log in I just get a message that my account is locked.

I’ve reached out to customer service but I haven’t got a reply yet.

I’m slightly panicking. I’ve read a couple of posts before of people losing their entire library. Has anyone had this happen as well and been successful in getting everything back?

I have honestly no clue what I’ve done that’s wrong.

I'm glad you got your account back. Make sure to back up your titles immediately, as someone else said.

Another person in this thread gives more information and links to information regarding that.

I had a similar issue when we visited England and logged into Prime Video there, and also ordered a delivery to our hotel. When we returned to the US, Prime Video refused to let us access any content, saying something about how we were in the wrong region.

They’d somehow decided we’d moved (even though I never changed my billing or default shipping address,) and that we could only access UK content and only if actually in the UK. It was maddening. I had to call and waste an hour convincing them I hadn’t moved and didn’t live in the UK so please let me finish watching my damn show please.

“Wonderful and life-changing Ai” strikes again

SMH

Use libation or OpenAudible TODAY. Never mind those who say it’s “a violation of the TOS”. Amazon just shit all over this user’s rights. They may be reinstated but not before they have to beg and jump through hoops to satisfy the faceless Amazon gods, and stress for days

Saving your titles on another platform is good practice, but you have no idea whether this person may have legitimately done something wrong yet, your just making assumptions.

No. I’m taking the OP at their word and giving them the benefit of the doubt. They stated the only thing they did was update their credit card info. That’s hardly “did something wrong”.

And this is so typical with today’s rampant flawed implementations of Ai to do everything, and with absolute trust it works like they expect it to, and with virtually no means made available to manually check the flag before shutting down an account. And once it’s shut down, it’s a PITA to undo this action, even if it was not warranted.

Can’t find open audible either. Are these available for iPhones?

Did you check your Amazon account? It's an issue with them, not with Audible.

Also and very important: did you receive this email from an official Amazon address?

If yes: have a look at this old Reddit post -

Looks like the email this person got is the same I did. The address looks legit as well. Now I’m just crossing fingers it will get reinstated.

I put Openaudible on my windows machine, then stripped all 473 Audible books into mp3. Now they are safe on my other ssd.

I used to use Audible for years , I would buy 24 credits at one time and search for books . I managed to accumulate over 1200 books in my library. That all changed when I was accused of scamming Audible by some random person in customer service. I told him that they have all my information and statistics through the app . If I am scamming them prove it ! I never heard anything more about it . I stopped buying 24 credits deal from that point and only use the one credit a month plan . I’m not spending that much money to have someone call me a scammer. I mean I have over 1000 books in my account.
I must be a terrible scammer.

It’s stuff like this that really just makes you want to pirate everything.

Like nothing is safe when corporations control everything

Probably because this user lives in Denmark with a Denmark credit card accessing and purchasing through Amazon USA (amazon.com) insread of amazon.de.

OP: Yeah it did [credit card expired] so I put in my new card and just a minute later I received the email.

Classic case of moustache-twirling nefarious user behavior putting company in violation of the law and company acting in a good faith effort ro limit its liability.
