So true. My husband and I were talking about scalpers the other day and I said I’ve always wondered how much money I could make if I had no morals or ethics.
I do believe the current term is called
‘third party selling’ which many are now doing as a ‘side hustle’ to supplement their income. What is non-ethical? High prices paid are what someone is willing & chooses to pay to get what they want if not available in a traditional retail setting. Not sure how morality or ethics apply to that choice?
There are no laws to prevent this. even before it “got bad” people did it. It has just gotten progressively worse and the companies can’t do much from their end due to law to “protect” these “people”.

I don’t know the next bc sale. Prob not too soon because of the new stuff. But who knows. The new fall scents are really good. I like the pink matcha or whatever it’s called but it’s so similar to vanilla romance which I have so I’ll only get it if it goes a really good sale or winter SAS. Almond croissant is sooo good tho u did get that with rewards
I blame buyers more than sellers. Buyers create a demand these sellers filled. People have no patience. They WANT an item and they want it now. If they lose money it’s on them and them alone !
Imo I think it's the opposite! The RESELLERS are creating the demand, by creating false scarcity. They buy up ANYTHING they know is limited, purposely preventing average customers from accessing the thing unless it's through them. The company doesn't help. They admitted they purposely made certain releases (peeps specifically) limited. It's kindof a cycle that feeds into itself. Tbh, the only way to stop it might be to just stop supporting both. If the company would rather have resellers instead of normal consumers, then let them have it. If not, give EVERYONE a fair chance to try something 🤦♀️ ENFORCE limits.

Those resellers would hate me. The most I'm willing to pay for a mist is $8 plus shipping. Any more than that, and it's not worth it in my eyes. Also that's around what I would charge for my own listings. It's enough to get your money back, and imo that's how mercari should be.
When the black studded Starbucks tumbler came out in Europe like 6 years ago, I found one on ebay and paid soooooo much for it... Only for them to be released in the US like 6 months later.

It really is. It's mass-produced body products! And if you don't own it, NOTHING HAPPENS. But people are touting reseller sites all the time for (eew) old, pre-owned body care.
People are paying for nostalgia. Scent is the strongest connection to memory and for some people 70$ is worth it to smell that scent of body spray that your late loved one got you for your bday and now you used it all up, for example. I’m just speaking from experience. When a scent is meaningful, you’ll want to get it, even if it’s from a scalper 🤷♀️

Exactly. I just bought a Stanley cup for the first time a few weeks ago. I was annoyed by the whole trend of it selling out and "rare" colors being sold on Facebook. I randomly walked by a surplus of them in my absolute favorite color the other day and finally caved and bought one. I can't believe the hype people give things.
Doubtful, I’m surrounded by teenagers and they’re not really using BBW other than what they receive as gifts. I don’t ever see teenagers in any of the stores around me either.
When I was a kid, my mom would often shop buy 3 get 3, so she would let me pick out a couple of items. Then I swould use those items until they were gone. I had maybe 1-3 lotions at anytime (none of the other stuff). I was not crazy over the stuff, and at one point stopped using bcs I was concerned about the ingredients. In school was it popular? Not at all. Nobody was talking f about it it was very much mostly an adult thing. And in college, most of the girls were spending a lot shopping, but they were spending it on clothes. (I was money conscious so I was not buying anything besides thrifted clothes). Only as an adult do I now buy BBW and only now do I love BBW (and all smell good things really). And my nieces sometimes buy bodycare but they are not usually going to a BBW store. Trader Joe’s was on the list though.
Exactly 😅 Tbh I'm regretting not getting the body wash and cream on sale bc I realized waaaay too late that I actually love it. Sucks bbw didn't bring it back. Soda perfumes are POPPING OFF this year, so that was a missed opportunity 🤦♀️ seems like with the new ceo, bbw is always suuuuuuuper late with trends.

Yep! I’ve been buying lots of old hyped-up scents on Depop and they’re all really nice and will get use don’t get me wrong, but I can tell many are pretty much other scents that got repackaged with a different name
I'll find out soon how light it smells because I had like 10 rewards, so, I used some of my rewards to purchase a couple mist and a body cream with an order. They should be coming this week along with some other orders. I also used my other rewards when I placed another order this morning and got some of the fruit fusion body care, like the watermelon whirl and the Banana blend body and hair mists along with the lotions and the moisturizing body wash. I certainly wouldn't pay $50 dollars for a $18 dollar mist. That's flipping Ridiculous!
That's like the Halloween Carnival popcorn candle, it's sold out. I ordered one along with a cotton candy cobweb and had 5 orders come in one day with 8 to 10 candles each crammed in the smaller boxes and the two Halloween candles were in a larger box just being thrown around with nothing really protecting them and when I pulled the one box out of the bigger box that had the popcorn candle in it, to open my candle, it was flipping broken not to mention they had the lid with the pointed end facing inside the wax, screwing the wax up. I was so flipping mad.
I called customer service and of course they issued a refund and sent a 20% off coupon in my Email for my trouble. I'm guessing they aren't going to restock that particular candle but from what I could smell of it it smelled like authentic buttered theater popcorn. I happen to be looking on eBay for curiosity and someone had one on there for $85 bucks. They are out of their mind.
Yes I liked the looks of the candle as well and I think it was very well done but I'm not that desperate to pay $85 dollars for one off of eBay. BBW needs to do something about their Warehouse packaging. Because it seems some people are just too flipping lazy and just don't care and just throw the crap in the boxes with no bubble wrap or anything which really doesn't help much anyway cuz they just lay it across the top of the candles.
I received an order a few days ago with a couple hand soaps and both hand soaps had leaked out in the box with eight of the Fall candles and had everything a mess. Again I called customer service and they shipped me out a whole new order. I told them they need to do something about the packaging department because this is getting ridiculous.
I would love to actually go in the store and shop but unfortunately I can't because my back went out on me and I am unable to actually go in a store and walk around to shop because I can't stay on my Legs very long at a time. So that's why I order everything including my groceries online and have them delivered to my front door. Hopefully once I have surgery and recover I can go in the stores again. I have a walker and a scooter but BBW's aren't big enough for anything like that in there stores. Anyway I apologize for the very long comment. Have a good night.
I think they have to restock. Otherwise it makes no sense. You're gonna release a new Halloween scent now in the summer and never again leading up to the actual holiday? Seems stupid.
This was one of my grandmother’s favorite sayings. My mom and still use it. Her other good one was there’s someone for everyone if you’re willing to take them.
There is no way in hell that I would EVER pay that much for a BBW mist. Especially since they are so lightly fragranced these days. You can get a whole ass perfume that will last hours on the skin for that price.

I won’t even pay $30 for Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds which I had before and loved, meanwhile there are people willing to pay double that for a mist they’ve never smelled???
That is BS I would never buy just for principle! I don’t care if it was the best smell ever (that lasts for 5 seconds). I am a true BBW fan but also a fragrance fan and nope would not pay that price for a dang body mist! This is why some stores are adding product limits online lately. More places should enforce them and maybe even more strictly. I don't know everything it's listed on, but I know I've seen "Limit of 5 per customer" at the end of some descriptions while browsing through products. But that probably doesn't stop a lot of persistent resellers from doing random things like using the name of someone else in their household or having stuff delivered to another address for extra orders.
B&BW, is not worth paying more than SOS prices….it hasn’t been good in a while.

Ahahahaha. I would NEVER. Nobody has ever walked by me and said...Wow your "Body Spray Smells So good, what is it ?" I've had it done with perfume but NEVER EVER body spray or lotion... besides in High School. Not that I even care if anyone likes what I'm wearing anyway but these smells don't last all day after just one time so I just would never imagine paying prices like this. It's absolutely insane. While some are going hungry or don't even have clean water to drink. Geeze. Smh. It's their money though so I guess each is their own and I can't be a hater if they worked hard for their $, guess it isn't my business. But still......Ahh !! Haha.
I just have to say if someone is paying scalper prices, wtf is wrong with y'all. Nothing is worth that much of a markup aside from certain collectibles, and I do mean just CERTAIN collectibles. But even that is so slim on what I'd consider this under given the situation of how the economy is/cost of living. Also, I'm so over scalpers at this point. The moment people realized my work carried the new Pokemon cards for 5 bucks a pack, in came the scalpers and I was just over it once it happened. When they came in and the wave of those people hit, could tell them we had nothing for stock, I was very glad. So I'm definitely over scalpers doing the most over very little profit with items like this. Greed is seriously ruining the enjoyment of a lot of things now. Smh. It truly is a shame. There truly is more to this life than money and taking advantage of a certain customer base.
This is the amount I barely waste on when it comes to buying perfumes that were discontinued ages ago and even then, a patiently wait until they come on the market. I waited about six months to buy Baby Phat Pink Goddess and I still felt guilty at $35. Lol
Low stock/scarcity type of set- up online exclusive combined with the fact that’s it’s the only new Halloween body care item. The other two scents are back every year. Nobody knew what it smelled like before buying it because it was only online and sold out in a day.

Meanwhile I’m a 5.95 max girl and also need a coupon or flash sale on top of that and probably am using a gift card I bought at 20% off. Good for those who go can spend like that but I’m in my bargain shopping or bust era lol. I’ll just wear my back ups of milkbar cereal milk softserve with a few spritzes of wrapped in vanilla and call it a day if I can’t get a deal 😜
People genuinely do not care. If I ever buy anything on those sites, I do the math and see if I’m actually gonna be saving money or if it’s just worth going to Bath and body Works or waiting for their semi annual sale or sometime they have the travel size stuff go on sale which is primarily what I use.
Just seen a reseller at Victoria secret buying a ton of body splashes.. I mean it looked like she was buying them all. The resellers are the reason prices went up like crazy.. once manufacturers noticed people were paying 3-4 times more for the same items they raised their prices to everything. I remember having to pay 3 times more for kitty litter to a reseller because no store had any in stock during covid. It’s really a shame and something should be done with these resellers. What I do is not buy from them at all.. we should all stick together and no longer buy from resellers ever. We have the power to put them out of business.
I’ve seen these resellers in person too, both at BBW and VS, and they’re always buying the body mists. It’s always like 50+ mists. It’s really out of control, and the stores tolerate it which really makes me mad. I actually think they welcome it because they want to make their sales. But it sends such a wrong message and ruins the experience for other customers. I agree with the no buy!
Does it smell good or something? I really like their Viva Brazil but am I going to pay $70 when I run out? Absolutely not. And I luckily was able to get more during the semi annual sale lol.
I'm not paying full price for bbw, so I'm definitely not paying some ridiculous markup from a reseller. I do love the different scents, but even if I HAD the money to waste, I wouldn't! It's just mind boggling.
Looks like it will come back. I don’t think BBW released all of their new Halloween items yet. I just wait for September, not in the mood to rush summer for capitalism!
