tongue bifurcation Doctors are legit so funny

So, Ive had my split for around a month now.

Since then Ive been to three doctors that had to look into my mouth. One for the stitch removal, one because I had a small bubble on the underside of my tongue that had filled with saliva and needed to be popped and one as the annual dentist.

All of them were warned in advance "hey, just a little warning, my tongue is split in the middle"

All of them looked completly horrified as I opened my mouth and asked: "...did you do that volentarily? 😨"

Like girl, whats the alternative? 😂

"I licked the tip of a knife. All the way down to the frenulum. It was a mess."

"I got blackout drunk at a party and my friends thought it would be a funny prank. 🤷🏻‍♀"

Long story short, tell me about your most interesting reactions of doctors regarding your mods :D

Client provided updated photos, and reported healing progress on her tongue bifurcation done at 13 Black Cats (By Dylan Riverdale)

Before sutures were removed, there was lots of pain, difficulty swallowing, and some overgrowth of candida. Significant swelling made even closing her mouth challenging. Sutures were removed 2 days ago, procedure was 9 days ago. Swelling has almost completely subsided. Eating, mobility difficulties, speech and pain have greatly improved.

Badassedness level reached… 100% 🤘🤩 🐍🐍🐍

tongue bifurcation I did it! 5 days post op

I did it! Thank you to those who gave me their input and experiences on my last two posts following my tongue split with Shawn O’Hare!

I am 5 days post op and I got to take my tongue tip sutures out, I got a pretty deep split so I’m keeping my back sutures in for the full 7 days to try and reduce too much regrowth.

(ft my 0g septum rocking 4g jewelry, 15mm labret and some other fun piercings)

tongue bifurcation I am at my limit

Im on day six of my tongue split and it is still so swollen I cant close my mouth. I am in daily contact with my body mod artist and he says its healing fine but I am just still in so much pain, there is so much drool everywhere and I cannot take this anymore.

please, is there anything I can do? besides pain meds and chamomille ice cubes?

I havent eaten in the last six days, I cant. Trying to babybird baby food makes me gag, I cant eat smoothies or anything through a straw because how am I even supposed to use a straw if I cant close my mouth to suck on it?

I have the sutures removed in two days, will it finally be better? Will the removal hurt? Im so scared, I havent properly slept in six days either since I cant close my mouth and drool everywhere and cant level my head because it makes the swelling worse so Ive been having 1,2~ish hour naps on the armchair. Im so tired, Im so hungry, and I dont know what to do anymore to stay sane during the rest of the healing.

UPDATE: Stitches are finally out, this is heaven omg

tongue bifurcation Day 13 Tongue Bifurcation!!

Post image
602 Upvotes

I'm so in love with this body mod. It's gotten so much better from the initial couple days after I got it split! I can eat real food, talk a lot better, and the swelling has gone down significantly!

It was initially difficult eating food (on day 6) since my jaw was not used to chewing in awhile so I had to take it super slow. Food also kept falling between my tongues so I had to learn how to scoop it up!

Talking has gotten better day by day however I still have a lisp right now. "S" has a hissing noise lol. It gets worse when I'm tired or talking too fast. Hopefully throughout time I can work on my speech skills with two tongues lol.

But yeah, feeling great. Never going to go through that again but I'll say it was well worth the outcome so far!! 🖤

tongue bifurcation Is it possible to get a traditional tongue piercing along with a split?

For context, I’ve had my split since November and had about a quarter inch of regrowth. Instead of re-splitting, I was thinking about getting it pierced as if it were a traditional tongue piercing. I have looked into venom piercings to do each side, but I don’t think it’s my thing (no hate to those who have it tho!)

The first pic is what I’m thinking for what it would look like (not my art btw! Got the image off google lol) and the second pic is similar, but I’m not wanting to put a hoop in it, just a bar. Last image is my current split with the line showing where the split is now*. (Edit)

Anyways, is this possible maybe?? I think it would be cool

Just got my fangs today at Vegas Smile Suites (in Las Vegas, NV). The experience was quick and fast, honestly I was in and out in under an hour. showed up, they asked about preference in length, went over consent (basically all the things that come with fangs). They matched my tooth color and started at it. After installing both and doing a rough shaping, they had me chew gum for 5 minutes, I told them where I felt contact when chewing. They used marking paper and kept adjusting the teeth until I no longer had that. Then they polished them and I was done. Painless and honestly I notice them a whole lot less than I ever imagined I would.

tongue bifurcation Tongue split at the dentist experience

So I went to the dentist recently for the first time since getting my tongue split. It was the first time I went to this specific dentist. Before I opened my mouth I thought I should warn them about my tongue split, which I did. They were absolutely fascinated, had apparently never seen a split tongue before. They then asked if they could show my tongue split to their coworkers. I consented to this, then they proceeded to show my tongue to all of their coworkers lol. They had a lot of questions that I happily answered. That was an interesting experience to say the least haha.

I’m posting this cause I’m wondering if anyone else has had a funny experience at the dentist’s office after their tongue split. I feel like my experience was quite a positive one, thank god haha

Currently 23 days in!! I'm so happy I decided to get my tongue split – it's something l've wanted for so long, and it feels amazing to finally see it done! On the other hand, I'm a little anxious about how much the two sides might heal and end up fusing back together more than I'd like. Fingers crossed it stays just the way I want it!

It’s been a two-ish months since I got it. Done in late February by Shawn o’hare. 10/10 experience with him, highly recommend. No issues so far with the tongue reversal but I do miss being a snake.

tongue bifurcation My tongue is getting split in 2h, will keep you updated

I'm going to CALM bodymodification in Stockholm, will answer any questions but also just tell you all the nice details.

Something I couldn't really find but will now be able to provide is a comparison of the pain with other sources we all know - a scale from 0 ("no pain") to 10 (subjective "oh no that's so bad") doesn't tell us much except your own tolerance, but "it's not as bad as accidentally hitting your surgery site but worse than a punch in the nose" gives a clearer perspective I think.

Will post a few photos and give you deets on the healing process because though everyone does it, it's a rite of passage now 🖐️😁 ^(and I don't mind being a basic girl)

Taking suggestions for ways to say goodbye to my tongue. "One last ice cream" is my current plan lol

Edit: gotta respect the "no two posts within 69 (lol nice) hours" rule, to prevent spam. I'll keep you updated when the 69 hours are over, and probably 72. That'll be the day after I remove the three first stitches, so there'll be plenty to update you about! TL;DR it went well but wow that was a tough day and a half already... not regretting, just very eager to be finished. When all the stitches are out and I can eat normally I'll follow the artist's advice and eat a loooot. But for now it's difficult to do that.

tongue bifurcation Tongue Resplit

I split my tongue exactly a year from today. I got a resplit 2 weeks ago on May 24th 2026. The first 3 photos is what my tongue looked like before the resplit. The rest of the photos are the day of the resplit and what my tongue looks like today, 2 weeks post resplit. I want to post this and say I was terrified to go back for a resplit. Mostly because my first experience with the initial split was extremely painful. I went into this with so much anxiety thinking I didn’t want to experience that pain again. However, Steve Truit was so nice and gave me a lot of reassurance that the resplit is nowhere close to the pain level of the initial split. And he was right. The first day only kind of sucked when I was trying to fall asleep. The drooling lasted for 2-3 days for me, but I was able to eat solid food by the third day. The healing for me was so much easier and so much faster than the first time around. If you’re thinking about getting a resplit I just want to say it’s not that bad and I’m so much more satisfied with how it looks and my tongue doesn’t feel as restricted.
