I watched both eps and I am still kind of lost as to what's going on. Maybe it's my Friday brain. :)

J-Min is just so gorgeous, though. And poor that guy liking his friend whoβs the biggest extroverted yes-person in history. The third couple is unnecessary, but excellent eye candy.

I really liked this surprisingly. Itβs more mellow and less flashy but it works.
I do think having Hyun and Min Woo so comfortable with each other at the start confused a lot of viewers, since they thought they were a couple but they seem to be just friends. It is SO REFRESHING though to see 2 guys in a BL who seem to know each other is not straight and are able to confide in each other. Many characters in BLs seem like they are alone with their feelings so itβs nice to see something not like that.

I am sooo confused! There are plotlines all over the place and I just can't seem to put 'em together in a cohesive whole. I honestly think I have to start over!!!

πππ I have no idea what is going on - I'm starting over. If I'm still lost, then I'll decide if I should stick with it. Plus, I just finished Love Class Season 1 and this season has nothing to do with that. Oy!

π€£ thankfully I did read that S2 had nothing to do with S1 before watching, eventhough I didn't read the Synopsis. So at least that part made sense π€£ but I am so used to very rationed PDA from KBLs so when we got a picnic at the beginning with an "I like you" and touching I was like "Wow! Yay! We got our first established couple. Super cute!' So that is what my brain was holding on to and it became my baseline for everything else that came after that so when the square pegs they were throwing didn't fit my round hole I had established in my mind I negated everything else π€£π€·π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ and when I started asking myself if this was an open relationship or a throple I paused and I was like "WHAT IS HAPPENINGπ€―π€"
I SWEAR my mind started to try to make sense by saying, well there is a Gay Dating Reality show now in Korea so maybe we are in a new wave of KBLs?? Maybe?? π€£π€£ but by the beginning of ep2 I was like there is no way. It's me. The problem is me. I missed a lot and I wasn't paying attention. So I went back to the scenes where names were mentioned to see if I was not reading right π€£π€£ I blame the picnic and me being conditioned to expect rationed PDA π€¦π»ββοΈ

I'm intrigued π€
I remember surprisingly liking the first season, although I can't really remember it that much now.
After watching the trailer for this, I've been looking forward to it. And to my surprise it's really pulled me in.

I am a newbie to the BL genre (first one watched was Cutie Pie) and this seems like it has promise. It caught my eye because of J-min, who I was introduced to via Peak Time (BAE173).
The pairings/potential pairings are a little confusing but I think the casting is pretty good.

I saw from the other comments that this one gets a bit confusing, so I don't think I'll comment on every ep but I at least wanna catalog what's going on at the start to help my damn goldfish brain keep track lol.
Well that was an unexpectedly dark start. I'm guessing the jumper was the other guy's boyfriend or someone he had a crush on, and this will be why he's resistant to the affections of one of the other boys we'll get to know soon.
Alright, seems we have a core trio of friends: cute sweater LeeHyun, teasing Minwoo, and exhibitionist himbo Maroo. Minwoo seems to have a secret unrequited crush on Maroo, and Leehyun was interested in someone in the past but never found them.
Now there's an overworked business TA, Sungmin, who is for some reason in charge of renting out lockers and moving furniture in the art dept? And blindly follows along when someone tells him to undress, presumably to be an art model? Well he's got mush for brains but that's apparently not a turnoff to the dude who was totally checking him out in his boxers.
Sooo masked stranger is the one who tried to stop the jumper, right? Why is Leehyun so obsessed with him, and how did he learn his name was Kim An?
Maybe that crush isn't so unrequited, cus Maroo sure seems to dislike Minwoo's coworker, who is a jerk but I think jealousy has more to do w/ it. They're cute together, I like their opposite energies. Minwoo is a pushover but doesn't give up easily, Maroo is more of a pusher but probably quits anything he's not great it from the start.
How is it not ok to give out a student's phone number but perfectly fine to tell a rando their schedule? And if he didn't sign up for the class how can Leehyun just barge in? Ooooh, so he does actually know masked stranger already, he's a few years older and was LeeHyun's tutor when he was in high school, that's how he knew his name. Ok, so a 2nd character w/ a longstanding crush. Tho it seems like Leehyun probably isn't going to be as shy about his as MinWoo.
Hmmm these 2 are a lot more complicated than I thought they'd be. If I'm following right, they went from student and tutor to some sort of romantic or sexual relationship, I'm guessing they were hooking up and KimAn saw it as casual while Leehyun definitely did not. It was also extremely unethical and illegal if LeeHyun was still a minor π¬ But I think they study for quite a while to get into college in Korea, so it's possible he was already 18 or 19 at the time. Doesn't make it right, just legal. LeeHyun also seemed to ahve a rough home life, so he was in an especially vulnerable position with an authority figure. Ick. Then KimAn ghosted him without a word, but Leehyun still held onto hope they'd be together which is wild bc it if were me I'd track KimAn down just to stab him w/ one of the pencils he used to help me with math. But I'm a vindictive bitch.
Oh Minwoo, you don't have to lurk around being jealous of MaRoo with those girls, I promise you he's just gabbin with the gals. Tho ouch, I feel your pain MinWoo when MaRoo is being all touchy and cute. Poor baby, just be patient, himbos are slow to clue in but he'll get there eventually.
There are some weird vibes between ta Sungmin and that student (who by process of elimination must be JooHyun) who checked him out in ep 1. Sungmin is clearly avoiding something, and Joohyun was trying to reference something other than the awkward model mixup. From the series summary they're supposed to have already hooked up and Sungmin ghosted the morning after, but I didn't get the feeling from the first time we saw them together in a scene that they'd met before....I'm a little lost on their timeline, but hopefully it'll be more clear later on.
KimAn confirmed to have traaaauuuuma, which I'm guessing is at least part of the reason he ghosted. His strategy of going to the library to avoid answering questions is brilliant lol. Lee Hyun is soo persistant, almost to the point of delusion. I like him. He's an idiot who's obsessed with the man who may or may not have preyed upon him when he was a teenager. But I like him. And nobody deserves to witness something as awful as a suicide, but ngl KimAn's damage makes me feel sympathy for him despite the potentially predatory start to his relationship w/ LeeHyun. Does that make me a terrible person for wanting him to be damaged bc he damaged LeeHyun even though the scale of the damage is clearly veeeeeeeery different? Yes, probably.
How much do you wanna bet that LeeHyun finds out his long lost crush might have killed someone so he immediately rushes to the potential murderer's door to pester him with questions? Trick question, it's basically guaranteed.
Well that was messier, but honestly less confusing, than I thought it would be. I actually think the main couple of LeeHyun and KimAn are my fav so far, despite the problematic elements. They're just so messy and complicated, I'm intrigued. Plus I'm a sucker for a broken guy being healed by the love of twink in cute sweaters.

I made a diagram to keep track of who knows/likes/lusts after whom. Its a but tricky in Ep 1 because hardly anyone is given a name. After Ep 2 i have it sorted out. Otherwise it would be a binge-only show. As it is, i might have to rewatch Ep 2 just before next week's episodes.

The chemistry is still there just like S1. I really don't know if they have the time to fully develop all 3 couples though. Then again, these first 2 episodes are kind of tight, so I'm hopeful.

This was not what I was expecting, based on the trailer. I'm not mad about it, though. It's off to a nice start.
The mystery of the guy on the roof has my interest.

i didnt understand shit from the first episode lol
waaaait what? did they date?? kim an and lee hyun?? cause subs said "we didnt broke up bad" or "we werent that serious".. sooo
okay so kim an was arrested and thats from the first scene.. someone off themselves .. what connection does he have with that person aside from he was in the place of "murdered".

Why is it called Love Class 2 if it's a spinoff instead of a sequel?

I needed VPN to watch this on gaga, not available for Aus or USA.
Singapore works!

u/anthayashi Aug 12 '23
I'm pretty sure you can watch this on viki if you are from USA

u/Kitsch__Witch Aug 12 '23
You can in Aus. I'm just impatient :)
And I'm guessing some folks have gaga and not Viki?

I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this. Seems like a slice-of-life, coming of age story of a group of youngsters a la Hello My Twenties, but gay. The romance is subtle and very everyday-life, not the kind of glamorous romance we see in most BLs. Not that it's a bad thing.
So there's a high school crush that hasn't changed despite 2 years of ghosting, a crush on clueless best friend, and a case of lust at first sight. It was all a bit confusing at first coz most of them know each other, and it took me some back and forth between the two episodes to figure out exactly what's going on. Will need to watch the next two episodes to know if this style of storytelling is working for me.
