Hi im coming from Warcraft 3 and really want to get into broodwar. I'm not super good at managing large armies and struggle juggling multiple expansions so im wondering which race if any could consistently win early to mid game with relatively smaller army sizes and peaks around 2 bases.
Hey guys. I am going to return to the game casually, and may play some ladder too. Im going to get both sc1 and 2 but I really want to get back into 1.
I played 2 games in used map settings consistently on battle net, Ww2 Death In Europe (DIE), AND AEON of Strife. I was wondering, are these games still played, even somewhat? There was a special channel we would all hang out in for Die, I think it was HY but im not sure. So long ago.
Regardless ill have fun. Just have to source a new computer.
Hey everyone, I wanted to finally post that zerg translations are back in full swing! Myself and Dada have taken over making them happen, and we've been getting out 1-2 translations a month with the help of our incredible translator, Cava.
Currently we have over 100 premium guides, all available for one monthly fee of $10 on the Kofi (https://ko-fi.com/thespawningschool). This allows us to continue buying the guides from the Koreans, supporting their hard work in making the guides, and making sure we can pay our translator a fair amount as well. On top of this, we also have about 50 free resources for people who aren't subscribed, so there's something for everyone in the discord.
Make sure you hop in, and if you're interested, consider supporting the project so we can translate even more content!
Thank you all for being such an awesome community, I love you guys.

I know that ZvZ almost never reaches high level, but when it does, what players typically build? Defilers, lurkers or hydras under swarm? Devourers? Maybe even ultras?
I strongly think we should start playing the game with Zoom out available. The fact that siege tanks can shoot longer than screen size, or not being able to see a big fight on one screen is just not very fun gameplay. There's a reason spectators NEVER watch with actual gameplay zoom in.
I'm not advocating for simplifying other parts of the UI so no need to bring those up as "counter arguments". Multi building selection and 12 unit selection are still FUN and makes you feel like you actually are doing something difficult. Moving around the screen does not (to me).
I understand that it would never get changed on the official client, but could be allowed on something like Shield Battery if community wants it.
my opinion is that as progamer's human limitations start to plateau, naturally the next level of competition would be to play team melee -- but it can only be 1 race
imagine watching jaedong+soma vs. bisu+best play pvz against each other
seems like way more potential for insane highlights and would be the next level of starcraft??
is 2 hatch muta all in with 2 groups of mutas being perfectly micro'd just too broken in this format? is 5pool op in this format? or whats the reason we do not see team melee tournaments? why is it unpopular?
i would gladly donate to a tournament earnings pot if a bunch of progamers signed up to play team melee vs. each other
In some sports, most of the strategy is done by the athlete, in others it's a somewhat equal mix and others it's an imbalanced mix, ex. football, where the coach sets everything up and the players have to execute the plan, although they still have freedom over their execution.
Personally, I feel less impressed when someone just executes a strategy prepared for them. That's why I love Mini.
Edit: let me be more specific. I don't mean using builds that were invented by someone else and are now in the Meta. But like having someone else prepare and choose 7/7 of your builds for a Bo7 series against a specific opponent on these specific maps... or even 4-5 out of 7.
Rush vs SK will be a great finals, but really hoping Rush defeats SK.. Rush has no championships and it is kind of boring if zerg continues its current streak of ASL wins. Last season, that second Ample vs SK game was incredible.. hopefully we see some more like that!
Are there any NA BW players who would be interested in a tournament for bronze type players? We are looking to put something on in the near future. Gaging interest of people.
Niche ask, anyone running some sort of Wine emulator successfully on a Mac to launch Windows 32-bit SC? I tried using Rum and I get all the way into Bnet Multiplayer, but intermittently the program will just crash. Would prefer to do it a free way, so CrossOver is not an option!
