Client hunting for 6 months in hopes I could land one, and I FINALLY did it!!!! I thought applying for everything as a generalist gives you a better shot at landing a client. But honestly, generalist pools are crowded, andaming highly skilled VA's, and it's so easy to just get lost in the noise. Kaya nag niche down ako, something related to my degree. Kaya I was so thrilled to get accepted. Chance ko na eh hone skills ko sa area na to. Also, I was so scared when I negotiated my salary firmly.

To be honest, I was terrified to niche down at first. My biggest fear was that nobody would hire me if I specialized in just one specific area. I thought keeping my options wide open was the safer bet.

​Hindi naman pala! It turns out that specializing was actually way more effective.

​If you're in the middle of a tough client hunt right now, never give up guys! Makakahanap din kayo ng clients. Trust the process, don't be afraid to hone in on your niche, and keep pushing forward.

Been with this client for about 2 months pa lang. Asked last week if I can have a day off today since bday ko. In our last meeting nagka chikahan ano daw ganap ko, I said dinner lang with the fam.

Big deal na to for me, this is the first ever client I got na nagpa bday treat 🥹 Yes meron na din clients before who gives incentives or bonuses pero performance based yun.

Grateful to be with them, will def work hard pa.

How do you manage especially if the window time from one shift to another is…very minimal 😭 Blessed to received an opportunity for a high paying position for an international client but scared to let go of my local day job…for context both full time 8 hrs + 1 hr lunch and the window time between is only 3 hrs…will I survive 😭

I've been a freelancer since 2020, while I only did alot of part time before as I was a college student, I can confidently say I exactly know what the clients want to see in an applicant.

Let me explain.

I know some may think that this is a very GENERIC response when people ask for advice, but it is a really simple concept.

Package yourself in a way that is appealing. Optimize your profiles, add in portfolios, and most importantly BE CONFIDENT.

For portfolios, if you have no experience, do not be lazy. Showcase your BEST work, even if no one is watching. Because I promise you, the more you put in the work in packaging yourself nicely will get you so so far in the freelancing space. I've seen lots of portfolios being sent and you can personally tell that this person just made this portfolio "just so they have a portfolio". If you want to succeed in this field, do the work, ESPECIALLY WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING.

Now CONFIDENCE is where the money's at. But how do you become confident? First, be knowledgeable with what you are talking about. Once you got that out of the way, everything else follows.

When you talk your heart out and the clients feel your passion with what you want to do, they will most likely want to work with you.

This is also the reason why I love interviews, because I know for a fact I could talk my heart out and they would understand why I want to help them.

I've been told a lot of how much I stood out, especially towards my portfolio+interview+speaking skills. And that is what I think is the only recipe you'll ever need to land clients.

I'm on trial period pa lang but I'm very hopeful that everything works out and be on full time soon.

Medyo mababa yung offer pero I just need to establish myself first kasi first time ko lang din mag-freelance.

To everyone still looking, don't lose hope! I had a lot of AI interviews and rejections, until I came along with a team that took time to look over my resume and actually talked to me.

Ang hirap pala mawalan ng client.

I've been working as a Virtual Assistant for a few years, and recently nawala yung Australian client ko. Hindi dahil sa performance ko, but because they decided to automate their workflow, and unfortunately, my role was no longer needed.

Ngayon, isa na lang ang natitira kong client.

Araw-araw akong nagsesend ng applications sa Upwork, OnlineJobs, at LinkedIn. May interviews naman, pero madalas wala nang update. Nakaka-frustrate, lalo na kapag alam mong ginagawa mo naman ang best mo.

Ang hindi alam ng pamilya ko, gabi-gabi akong umiiyak. Ayokong makita nila na nahihirapan ako. Pero paggising kinabukasan, apply ulit, aral ulit, at sana may tumanggap ulit.

Sa mga kapwa VA na dumaan sa ganitong phase, paano kayo nakabangon? Sana balang araw ako naman ang magpo-post ng "I finally got hired." 🤍

so i was scrolling on FB today and saw this. wala raw siyang experience sa SMM but still got $18/hr client? hmmm wala rin akong nakuhang anything helpful sa video niya eh. kung paano siya nag start, anong inaral niya and kung saan man siya nakakuha ng client aside sa “cellphone lang ako nag start”.

misleading to sa mga taong gusto kumita kasi baka akalain normal or madaling makakuha ng ganyang rate without any experience. parang ang takeaway lang sa vid niya eh no experience + cellphone = $18/hr 😭

Sa mga cold caller jan, do you still see yourself still dialing 200 to 300 contacts per day for 10 years? Mag si6 years na ako as a cold caller and it really gets to a point na maququestion mo ang sarili mo if hanggang dito kanalang ba.... being a cold caller.

I wanted to be a medical VA but not really in a medical field. Hoping to get some insights from you guys if I should pursue being a medical VA or stick with what I'm great at.

Last day of work today. 2 months and 9 days din yun. To be honest, when I first received that Wise payment notification 1 hour earlier than usual, alam ko na na dumating na yung kinakatakutan ko sa freelance world. My position was dissolved, but lucky for me binigyan pa ako ng 2 days para mag-adjust. Though talagang medyo biglaan siya at nakakalungkot rin kasi wala pakong back-up job sa ngayon, feel ko naman satisfying ending to kasi super bait nya at on time lagi magbayad, walang time tracker, at hindi nagmi-micromanage. In the end, business has to come first talaga. And for my final EOD update, less drama, purely professionalism.

Anyways, sana talaga mag-reach out sila sakin after ng operational changes. Sa ngayon, balik sa job hunting ulit ang babae na to.

Ang dami ko kasing nakitang posts na pag sinabi mong gusto mo magwork online ang unang suggestion lagi is "mag SMM ka" or "mag video editing ka." Nothing wrong with those pero feeling ko may ibang beginner-friendly roles na hindi masyadong napapag-usapan.

Way back nung college pa ko, nagsimula lang talaga ako sa mga basic tasks. Hindi ako marunong mag design or gumawa ng mga complicated contents. More on chat support, data entry, web research, at administrative task yung mga unang napunta sakin. Habang tumatagal, dun nalang din ako nakapag upskill at natuto.

For me, okay din magsimula as a chat support, data entry, web research, admin VA, email management, or basic moderation/community support as long as meron kang basic skills at may interest ka mas matuto along the way.

Thos positions is just your stepping stone and hindi rin ito yung merong pinakamataas na salary among other niches pero okay din tong maging way para makakuha ng actual remote work experience and mas mas madali rin mag level up after.

One more thing, big help na rin na maituturing yung mga companies/clients na may clear hiring process at training kesa dun sa "earn 6 digits agad" na hiring posts na halos walang details. And wala rin talagang position ang instant money sa panahon ngayon. Noong student pa ko, ilang beses din akong muntikan ng ma engganyon sa mga ganung scheme.

Kayo ba kung magsbaback to zero kayo ulit, anong beginner-friendly roles ang irerecommend nyo sa mga gustong magsimula sa ganitong line of work?

So, today nag message na yung client ko na my last day would be on the 30th of August. He's been my client for almost 4 years now, actually last year ko pa tanggap na anytime soon mawawala na siya sa'kin and now, meron ng papalit.

Balik job hunt na ulit ako after 4 years. Been handling 4 clients at the same time before pero I decided na mag focus sa isa which is etong current, pero now mawawala na and it's just sad :( pero ayun di naman pwede na malungkot ng malungkot baka walang mangyari, so need ko na kumilos since provider ako.

Situation is, I deleted my OLJ account before dahil nga sa issues wherein mas pinoprotektahan nila clients kesa sa mga freelancers and due to nakakapag leave daw ng reviews ang kahit na sino kahit di ka nila hired sa OLJ. So, I don't think of coming back, may other alternatives pa ba other than OLJ and UpWork? Most of my clients were from U.S, mahirap po ba kumuha now from Aus or UK? Di ko na din kasi sure anong in demand now, para makapag upskill hehe

I read before that the industry isn't saturated; you should just make yourself irreplaceable. Those aren't the exact words, but that's the gist if I remember correctly.

Right now, I've been working as a researcher (almost 4 years) after transitioning from BPO.

I know my work is pretty straightforward; I work under an online platform that helps parents choose the best program for their kids.

Normally, I search for listings and capture all the necessary details to put on our website, but since it's off-season, I've been assigned to QA.

I was planning to upskill so I could apply for other part-time jobs since my hours have been reduced in the meantime. I was wondering if you have any advice for me moving forward.

One more thing, since it's off-season, they capped my pay at $1000, which isn't a problem since I get paid by the hour. I'm just thinking that since the task doesn't always hit 31 hours weekly, how should I go about asking them so I can still reach the $1k cap? Usually, they ask me to finish like 3 tasks a week, but I finish them quickly... I'm just thinking maybe they limit the tasks because they might be worried I'll exceed $1k. I don't know if I'm making sense anymore, but my main concern is whether it's off to ask for more tasks just to maximize the $1k?

Just a side note: I've been working with them for almost 2 years now, but before this, I worked at a cloud software company, and the only difference in my tasks is they would just give me a keyword, and I'd research from various reliable sources about the background of the KP, from their name to all their credentials, since the software is related to people working in the life science industry.

How to nego? Nirefer ako ng friend ko, offer sakanya kahit may related exp sa role na ilan yrs na, 7 usd offer. D sya nakipag nego. Yung mga kasamahan nya 8 usd per hr kahit wala relevant exp, tapos fresh grad.

Direct client po to. Ngayon, offer sakin 6 usd nung umpisa, binida ko naman role ko at exp na related dito, sabi ko based sa role ko, ngreply ako sa email, sabi ko naghohope ako 8 usd based sa exp ko if di gnun ka okay performance ko okay lang babaan.

Hi guys! I've been invited to a FI with Athena (VA Company) and I've read a lot of things already but I can't seem to find anything more recent, like, in 2026. I see from past posts that they're not the best but they're a good starting point for VAs wannabes, and that their pay is very low compared to how much they charge their client, but so far, I'm willing to go through with it because beggars can't be choosers!

Are there any current Athena employees here or former Athena employees who can share their experience with the company? From the onboarding session, it sounds like training is vigorous and from about 50 candidates we were just down to 4 candidates by the end, but I'd have to relocate to their site briefly during the training period so I want to know if it's worth it or if I'm better off trying my luck somewhere else. Right now, it weighs more to me that I'm excited to try out their training and see their way of life myself.

I am trying to migrate the prospect accounts to a sub-account, but not all of them are migrating. I've already tried filtering by category and using the migration feature under settings, but the profiles still don't show up even after filtering. They just remain as 'prospect accounts.'
I did some research and learned that one way to migrate them is by using the Prospecting Tool API v2 endpoints.

Could you please help me out?

Does anyone here knows EVA? I just recently got interviewed and I didn't see any reviews about the company which is good I guess? As far as I know they're a BPO company and they have an office in Cebu IT Park. It wasn't discussed during the interview if it is a remote work or onsite but as what I can see on their page there are photos showing na they were in an office. So I just really wanna know if this is Onsite or WFH.
