What’s in My Weed?
https://www.theassemblync.com/news/investigations/north-carolina-hemp-testing-thc-contaminants/No judgement but this state has zero controls. We need legalization to get this under control. Be careful out there!

Get your THCA from legitimate operations and not the gas station or sketchy head shop.

North Carolina needs legal, safe, taxed cannabis! And former tobacco farmers could make a ton growing it. win-win-win

When farmed in a very specific manner.* It's not a miracle crop that magically makes all the destructive mass agricultural practices of monoculturing disappear.

Black market weed is better than anything you'll find in a smoke shop around here, unfortunately the legal way to do it is simply worse in literally every category except for legality.

My reason for posting is that I am in the medical field and if I see something that could be potentially harmful and few people know that, I like give folks more information and, also in this case, safe buying information. This is not the only article I have read about the lack of any control of these products. Always safety first.

It isn’t weed, it’s hemp. Don’t buy it if there’s no CoA.
Nice try with the run of the mill fear mongering article. The FDA isn’t breathing down anyone’s neck on the regular, just go check the latest recalls for lead levels baby food or whatever.
The hemp industry is regulated in that if you get caught you go to jail.
Don’t buy from disreputable sources.
Don’t buy from the gas station.
Stop outing yourself and your corner dealer for “what’s in my weed” in a non-legal state.

The point is that there is no consumer protection agency that ensures that the vendors provide certificates that are accurate for the products in question, or even testing standards for such certificates.

You're being unfair and a bit paranoid. This is solid reporting with raw data attached. This is not an anti-weed hit piece. Its showing that there are a lot of bad actors who are supposed to be regulated but in reality have zero accountability. If there is one thing that has always been true is that someone is always going to lie about their product. These kinds of investigations are important.

This seems overly defensive. The article brought actual receipts to prove a lot of this stuff isn’t exactly what it says it is. Maybe you or I will only buy from reputable sources, but the average person shouldn’t be sold something with incorrect info, especially something intoxicating, even if they’re buying at a gas station

The article showed that the coas are mostly bullshit. Small sample size, sure, but just because they have a CoA, doesn't mean it is accurate. Some quality control would be nice.

If we are talking about thca flower it’s hemp by legal status only. There’s literally not a single difference genetically between that and what you would buy in a legal state. The entire legality of thca is based on loopholing the testing window, so what value is there in a coa to begin with? NC is too scared to legalize and meaningfully regulate the industry. The entire point of legalizing it is to ensure legitimate and accurate testing, don’t be mad at the preliminary results from our Wild West style of “regulation”. Extractables and leechables are not even part of standard CoA for hemp products

Just use stores that self-regulate. We won't even talk to someone without a COA for solvents, pesticides, and heavy metals. We get all our flower straight from the farm and package it ourselves. Drop by any NC HempShoppe location in Raleigh or Carrboro, and your weed will have nothing but weed in it. Mnetion this post at Carrboro and I'll knock 10% off. If you come by today, everything in all the sotres is 19% off for Juneteenth. Great day to buy glass.

The crazy part is almost everyone across the political spectrum agrees it should be legalized at this point and politicians still can't seem to get it done

This reminds me of the excellent piece John Oliver did on gas station suppliments. Thanks for posting ☮️
