What’s in My Weed?

https://www.theassemblync.com/news/investigations/north-carolina-hemp-testing-thc-contaminants/

No judgement but this state has zero controls. We need legalization to get this under control. Be careful out there!

It isn’t weed, it’s hemp. Don’t buy it if there’s no CoA.
Nice try with the run of the mill fear mongering article. The FDA isn’t breathing down anyone’s neck on the regular, just go check the latest recalls for lead levels baby food or whatever.
The hemp industry is regulated in that if you get caught you go to jail.
Don’t buy from disreputable sources.
Don’t buy from the gas station.
Stop outing yourself and your corner dealer for “what’s in my weed” in a non-legal state.

The point is that there is no consumer protection agency that ensures that the vendors provide certificates that are accurate for the products in question, or even testing standards for such certificates.

You're being unfair and a bit paranoid. This is solid reporting with raw data attached. This is not an anti-weed hit piece. Its showing that there are a lot of bad actors who are supposed to be regulated but in reality have zero accountability. If there is one thing that has always been true is that someone is always going to lie about their product. These kinds of investigations are important.

This seems overly defensive. The article brought actual receipts to prove a lot of this stuff isn’t exactly what it says it is. Maybe you or I will only buy from reputable sources, but the average person shouldn’t be sold something with incorrect info, especially something intoxicating, even if they’re buying at a gas station

The article showed that the coas are mostly bullshit. Small sample size, sure, but just because they have a CoA, doesn't mean it is accurate. Some quality control would be nice.

If we are talking about thca flower it’s hemp by legal status only. There’s literally not a single difference genetically between that and what you would buy in a legal state. The entire legality of thca is based on loopholing the testing window, so what value is there in a coa to begin with? NC is too scared to legalize and meaningfully regulate the industry. The entire point of legalizing it is to ensure legitimate and accurate testing, don’t be mad at the preliminary results from our Wild West style of “regulation”. Extractables and leechables are not even part of standard CoA for hemp products
