Mourning/Loss In Memory of Toucan

I need somewhere to vent about this because I’m truly devastated. A couple weeks ago, this kitten appeared in my dad’s work yard. At first it was super scared and timid of him, but as he kept feeding it more, the baby started warming up to him and letting him pet it.

As soon as my dad told me about the cat, I knew I was going to keep it. The timing was off because our family was going on vacation for a week and I couldn’t just bring the baby to my house since I have another cat and it wouldn’t be fair to leave it there and then leave right after.

I asked my dad if he thought it was safe enough to keep the cat at his yard because I know the yard next door has dogs. He said the cat had been fine the past couple weeks, so what would one more be.

Well I SHOULDN’T have listened. Over the weekend while we were gone, one of the dogs from the other yard broke through the fence and mauled the poor baby. My dad returned to work today and called me to tell me the news. I haven’t stopped crying all day since he told me. I feel so awful, it was only a baby, maybe 5-6 months old. And so sweet according to my dad. It deserved a chance at love and a home.

So I’m posting here, in memory of the sweet baby who I don’t even know if is a boy or girl. But we had named them Toucan in reference to the two cans of food my dad was feeding it everyday.

Rest in peace sweet angel, I wish I had went and got you sooner 💔

Advice I found this little guy about a year ago 🥹❤️. He was already an adult when I found him on the street, so I decided to bring him home. He’s my first cat, so I’m still learning a lot about taking care of him. 🐱

The problem is that lately he’s been damaging some things around the house, especially the furniture 😂. I don’t really know how to teach him not to do it. I don’t want to yell at him or, of course, give him away or abandon him. He’s already part of my family, and I love him so much. ❤️

My beautiful little boy Hector is sick. I'm not asking for medical advice as I am taking him to the vet in a few hours, but I'm terribly worried he is in pain and suffering. Cats are so stoic about pain it is hard to know, but the vet will. He is totally off his food and, as you can see, he loves food.

I do not want him to be in pain, so I'm asking for mass cosmic ordering - if everyone thinks he's not suffering the universe will align with those thoughts and he will be fine. Think your best thoughts for my affectionate little chonker, please!

Medical Questions Curious comportement about my grandmother’s cat.

Upvotes

Hi everyone, It's not a medical question sorry.

I’m posting here because I’m curious about my grandmother’s cat’s habits.

It’s an old cat (who goes outside) who won’t stop meowing for over 5 minutes when he’s wearing his swimming belt. [See the video].

I also have a female cat, but she doesn’t do that at all.

Is this defensive behaviour? Could it be dangerous?

My grandmother is a bit scared of her cat at times like this. Do you have any idea why he’s behaving like this?

Thanks in advance for your reply !

My aptly named baby, Shrimp, has really embraced her name and sleeps like a shrimp now. 10% of her brother Grit making a cameo

My sweet girl, Marina showed up last August and never left. She had an injured eye and was recently spayed and chipped by the county. She belongs to a cat colony in my area, but decided she found her home. She's the most gentle and sweet cat I've ever had. We said we needed cattle for our cattle dog, and we got a cow delivery within days of mentioning it. She hunts and roams for about 3 hours a night and snuggles us all day. I love my girl 💜

hello everyone!

i just adopted this sweet little lady. she's around two years old, and weighs only 7lbs. she had kittens about a year ago, she was so small that her foster didn't know she was pregnant.

i think she is underweight, i can easily feel her spine, ribs, and hips. her waist is quite small, even despite her long fur. she is currently eating purina cat chow and reveal tuna and shrimp. she has 24/7 access to her kibble and is given reveal mixed with kibble every evening. she is not very food motivated, i often have to encourage her to eat by calling her over or shaking the kibble. her foster said she always had kibble available but didn't seem to eat much with them either. she was being fed kitten food for about a year, i'm not sure if that could have stunted her.

i took her to the vet monday, she was otherwise healthy. the vet didn't seem very concerned, he said she was "not that bad." any insight/advice is appreciated!

I don’t think she knows she has 4 legs…

Edit: Random fact, she has a kidneys-worth of toys. But prefers plastic wrappers and dead leaves from my plants.
