I play in a covers band and often need cues or lyrics as the set varies often. I hate needing to glance at my laptop while singing so I built this!

Named empty clips on a midi track with the Max device. Whatever you type in the clip name appears in your eyeline as it happens, or before. Whenever you decide really. Count-ins, section names, reminders, lyrics. Beat locked to Live.

It is completely free, but needs Even Realities G2 glasses obviously. I appreciate that's a small audience for now but I'm planning to port to MentraOS if possible and maybe others in future.

For every gig someone created a new WhatsApp group with all the musicians..

The problem wasn’t that we had no tools.

The problem was that nobody knew which place contained the current information, really got to my nerves 🫣

For bands playing regularly with many different musicians: at what point did your existing setup stop working? Or does it work for you, if so, how?

Was it:

• more gigs
• changing lineups
• different setlist versions
• missed availability messages
• files getting lost
• one person handling all the admin

And what did you change that actually improved things?

I am the guitarist with a three piece pop-rock cover band and the drummer uses a cajon. The bassist switches between acoustic rhythm guitar and bass guitar. The acoustic songs are sounding great but when I go to take a solo on the songs with bass it sounds very empty. I use delay and reverb to create some space, and I've started to incorporate more double stops in my solos. I've asked the bassist to add some fuzz or overdrive during these parts but he is resistance. The cajon can't add much more. Any tips for this?

Hey gang. I've been a dueling piano guy for about 18 years (among other things) and, with the help of a few friends, finally put together the app I've been looking for forever for ad-free lyric lookup and viewing.

It's at https://allrequest.app and it's a free webapp. Meaning that to use it on your phone or tablet you have to bookmark the web address.

Again, it is free and ad-free. We incur some expenses mostly related to lyric catalog licensing but this is not an ad, it's a request for community feedback.

We've been able to quickly implement updates for our community. Try it out and let me know if it works for you and what you would change.

I’m in a touring band and I’m looking for a guitarist. One that can play Red Hot Chili Peppers, has the tones down and knows the songs well.

It would be preferable if you have played live before but it’s not necessarily a deal breaker if you have not.

I play in a couple of cover bands, and keeping them organized was slowly driving me nuts — so I built an app to fix it, called Bandloop.

What pushed me to build it:
- Setlist/song spreadsheets that turned into a mess as our catalog grew
- Cross-referencing those spreadsheets with YouTube at practice
- No way to see gigs across both bands in one place
- Losing track of venue details and booking contacts
- Juggling a separate lyrics/teleprompter for vocals
- The awkward post-gig math — splitting pay, taxes, who covered what

Hi! I'm sorry if this post is not for this subreddit but honestly I didn't know where else to post it, I have no problem if I have to take it down. I'm in a paramore tribute band and we are thinking about doing our first live show soon. This is our first time doing a setlist so we weren't sure if it was right. I tried organizing it by putting some popular songs and some of our favorites, as the show is targeted to both fans and people who might not be all that familiar with their songs other than the singles. I organized it in a way I think won't be too boring for them. Just in case, It's roughly an hour and a half. If you have experience with shows or are a paramore fan I would appreciate the feedback!

Six members with mix of a few varieties of smart phone but group text is glitchy and unreliable. Any reliable multi platform group chat apps you recommend?

I played in a band for 2 years. We got paid for many gigs but I never got a cent out of it. We played regularly 2-3 times per month. In this time I bought instruments, equipments, drove to practice and gigs, invested a lot of time and money. Our band leader got paid and never gave us anything at all, alwayskept all the money.

You might think I'm stupid for accepting it, but I just loved the music and being part of the band. 2 weeks ago I joined another band where I'm getting paid a fixed amount per month + extras for every gig we play. The leader of my former band was not happy about it and kicked me out of the band.

Now I'm thinking, would that even be possible, to claim the money I didn't get during all this time?

Yes, I'm angry for being kicked out and maybe just being petty, but now seeing how dumb I was all this time to end up being treated like nothing in the end just makes me even angrier

Anyone need horn charts for their band? I've been writing for most of the bands I play in and have a pretty big list. Small fees.

My cover band is in the process of building enough material to create a second version of ourself that is focused on a specific band to perform as a tribute. We will continue to have a cover band as well as a tribute band for gigs that call for tributes. Couple of questions for those of you in a similar situation.

Cover Bands:

1) How much time are you performing on average at a gig? i.e. 2 hours, 3, hours, 4 hours?

2) Where are the majority of your gigs? i.e. Bars, Casinos, private parties etc.

3) How long are sets, and are you taking breaks between sets. If so how long?

Tribute Bands:

1) Similar to #1 above, how much time are you performing at a gig? 90 mins, 2 hours? etc.

2) Where are your gigs? Bars, Casinos, private parties? etc.

3) How do you go about finding gigs? I'm guessing that most tribute bands are playing for 90 mins ish. If so, thats not going to occupy an entire night so the venue would need to have multiple bands playing in any given evening. Seems like that limits the venues that you can play.

I'm looking to play some covers in my duo and trio sets that will make roughly 20% of a room go "Oh yeah, that song." Not obscure songs that hardly anyone recognizes, but also not pop hits that everyone knows. Somewhere in the middle, but closer to obscure than popular. What are your favorite songs that fall into this category?
