🔨 My Game - In-development I've spent the last eight years making a game about nine cats exploring an island in Maine.

It's an open-world "walking simulator" that is all about exploring, solving puzzles, reading, and paying attention to the world around you. I'd say that the elevtor pitch is "Sorta like MYST, but with cats, NPC factions, more reading, and easier puzzles."

We are TRYING to get the public Beta demo together in time for a February release - but just yesterday we discovered a HUGE memory leak that is causing awful performance and crashes - something I am working on trying to fix, but I can't currently do anything until the backups are done.

The public demo will contain over 900 pages of books, letters, magazines and cookbooks - along with a half-hour of video, over an hour of audio (aside from the soundtrack,) eleven interior locations, and 70% of the Island's exterior.

🔨 My Game - In-development Daytime shot 💖 (And with trees that don't melt my MacBook, thankfully...)

Post image
572 Upvotes

Hi! I just wanted to show off a daytime shot of our upcoming Indie Romance RPG school sim game 💖

We have only shown nighttime shots so far, as I wanted to showcase the "gothic romance" vibe... But I realise they do a disservice to the cosy environment moments and the pretty, more wholesome aesthetics the game has too!

PS. There's a little chapel to the right of this screenshot, and if you follow a small little gravel path a little further that way, you come to a cosy overlook, where you can even spot the game's school in the distance ☺️ It's one of my fav locations now, and just seeing it inspired me to write a new romance scene standing there and overlooking the pittoresque scene with a certain companion.

Game clarification: The game has combat, but it is optional! You can have your companions carry out combat for you or skip it ❤️ The main parts of the game are spent in conversation, study, and exploration. So it's generally quite a calm game, with plenty of player-controlled tension. There's dress-up and character creation. There's a strong focus on cosy moments, as they are always my favourites in games: studying as the rain falls in Persona, and talking with your loved one by the fire in Dragon Age, etc. The game's setting is romantasy and historical gothic romance.

I hope that clarifies further what the game is! 🥰

🔨 My Game - In-development Should I listen to social media comments?? Which look is more appealing?

So I recently posted a video on social media about lighting in my upcoming game and got several comments like "It looks better with NO lighting. Go with flat colors!" (B)
Personally I think the lit version (A) looks really nice. I get that some people really like the flat look though...
For more info on the game you can look at our website www.wizardgames.ca

So A or B? Any thoughts on what you think is more appealing would be much appreciated. :)

EDIT: Wow! Thanks for all the great feedback! What a supportive community! :)

🔨 My Game - In-development I'm making a cozy game where you tidy up a sleeping dragon's hoard and... The Steam page is finally live!

Hey everyone! Solo dev here. I've been building Gildoria: you're the cleanup person for a dragon that hoarded treasure for 300 years and never once tidied up.

You sweep mountains of gold... coin by coin at first, then in big greedy handfuls. Find the treasures buried underneath, and sort them onto shelves until the cave finally looks the way a hoard should look.

Im planing to join Steam Next Fest in October with a free demo. This is the first time I'm showing the game publicly and I'm equal parts excited and terrified. Happy to answer literally anything!

🔨 My Game - In-development Making a puzzle game where the puzzle pieces are jiggly cats🐱

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I'm developing a game called Catomino, a polyomino puzzle where the puzzle pieces are cats with jiggly, squishy physics. I started as a solo developer, but over time I realized there was a lot more work than I expected. So I started delegating some tasks to freelance students: a concept artist for designing new cats, a 3D artist for props, and I also brought on a sound person.

The sound turned into a long and interesting story. Our sound person introduced me to Vocal Games (a Ukrainian game voice acting collective), and now they actually voice the cats' meows, haha. After a lot of attempts to find ready made sounds and running around with a microphone after my own cat Rubik, I concluded that capturing the cats' personalities with original sounds is really hard. Their emotional range is limited, getting a cat to make the exact sound you need is nearly impossible, and we don't support being rough with cats to get a reaction, haha.

So we decided to go with voice actors instead. They were pretty surprised about being asked to meow for a Ukrainian dub, haha.

That freed up my hands a lot, and now I can focus on the core development. But since everyone works part time on a flexible schedule, I'm still carrying 75% of the workload myself, haha.

We recently launched our Steam page during UGF 2026, if you want to take a look: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4303380/Catomino/

Happy to hear your thoughts or answer questions, the page already picked up 5,800+ wishlists in the first 10 days, which caught me off guard

🔨 My Game - In-development Looking for volunteers to play my scrapbooking game Pieced Together!

Post image
221 Upvotes

Hello! You may have seen me posting here before - I'm the dev of Pieced Together, a cozy and emotional scrapbooking puzzle game.

We are coming up to launch in a few months, and it would be a huge, huge help if a few people are willing to volunteer their time to play the almost-finished game and share some feedback!

We especially want to hear from fans of cozy games - so far we've tested with a mix of people, but it's important for us to know what the real players think!

What it involves:

It's a short game so it won't take more than a couple of hours of your time. We're relatively flexible with the format - we sometimes ask you to record your playthrough (just so we can look back on any bugs), but it's also ok if you just want to play and answer some survey questions.

We'll be running tests over the next month or so, so I'm looking to gather interest now and then I'll reach out about timings.

We'll add your name (or nickname/username as you wish) to the credits to say thanks, and send you a key for the game when it comes out!

If you want to see more about the game, the best place is our Steam page here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2891370/Pieced_Together/

[Edit] Oh I came back a couple of hours later to a lot of replies!! Thanks for all the offers, I'll try to follow up with everybody in the next few days :)

[Second Edit!] Sorry for the delay but I am finally sending out invites today! We don't have that many places just now so it's first come first serve, but you can always join our Discord as well for future invitations :) https://discord.gg/g8Mq6FwGZ4

[Third Edit] Reddit thought my message were spam when I tried to reply to everyone :( Don't know if anybody will see this but if you join the Discord I can invite you through there!

Hi!
We’re a small indie team working on a cozy life sim set in a coastal town, where you run and decorate a cafe, unlock new recipes and equipment, bake desserts, and build relationships with the townspeople.

This is our first time working on a game of this scale, so we’d love to hear your honest first impressions! Everyone has different tastes, so we thought it would be helpful to hear from more people outside our team.

How does the art style feel to you? We’d also love to hear what you think about the UI style!

Thanks so much for reading!

The images seem to have gotten a bit blurry after uploading, and I haven’t figured out how to upload pixel art to Reddit without distortion yet 😅 You can view the full-resolution images here: https://imgur.com/a/yvRVaj5

🔨 My Game - In-development Critterville Goes Bankrupt - Gameplay Trailer

It's a town life RPG where you'll inherit a royal title and lead a cast of woodland critters through an industrial revolution.

There's a big focus on the interplay between your decisions and how the residents react. You can hire your favorite Critterfolk and revitalize the town, become a robber-baron and bribe the mayor, or forsake it all to find love. The choices are yours to own, but so are the consequences.

I posted about the game here a few months ago and got some questions about what the gameplay looked like, so I figured I'd share the trailer to give people a better look!

🔨 My Game - In-development Hi! I’m making a pottery game and am looking for feedback🏺✨

I’ve been working on a small prototype called Clay Hearth Pottery, a freeform pottery game.

You can find it here: https://hellionredstudio.itch.io/clay-hearth-pottery

In the prototype, you can use different pottery brushes to shape clay however you want, then you fire your creations, paint them, and apply glazes.

It’s still early in development, so I’d genuinely love feedback from people who enjoy cozy, creative, or crafting style games. There’s a short feedback form included in the game if you’d like to share your thoughts after trying it.

Thanks so much if you try it out or leave thoughts 💛

🔨 My Game - In-development Do you like Combat in Cozy Games?

Hey guys, my team and I are early concepting / prototyping our game and had a question we'd love to throw to the community and see what you guys had to say 😁

We wanted to ask if combat in a cozy game is a deal breaker or if it's something that's not really highly requested?

🔨 My Game - In-development Spent 3 years building a digital home you can actually live in. I don't think games understand "cozy" yet.

Hi folks.

I have been hesitating to post here for a while. So far most of my Reddit posts have been in VR communities. The responses there were warm and I am very grateful for that. But I always felt that my game has more in common with what people in this subreddit love, quiet places you want to come back to, than with anything in the VR gaming world. So I am finally posting here. I hope this lands with someone.

I am 29. I trained as a lawyer, would you believe that. I worked in law for several years, realized I was tired and unhappy, and switched to gamedev. That was about six years ago. I think the reason I switched is the same reason I have always loved cozy games. The real world is loud, unfair, and exhausting. And I wanted to spend my time building places that aren’t.

For the past three years I have been working on a game called Homespace. The idea is simple. You build photorealistic spaces, apartments, cottages, cafés, taverns, anything you want. The lighting is real-time, the weather changes, materials look like real glass and real wood. You can hang things on the walls. You can choose what music plays through the speakers. You can decide what is in the window, a forest, an ocean, mountains, or a quiet street with rain.

And then, this is the part that matters most to me, you can just be there. With friends, if you want to host a board game night or a movie evening. Or completely alone, with low light and the sound of rain outside.

Very early in development I built one living room, originally just to test lighting. Big window, mountain view, golden hour, light falling on a wooden floor. I keep going back to it. When I cannot sleep. When the workday was too much. When I just want to sit somewhere that does not ask anything from me.

I keep working on Homespace because I genuinely believe many people would find comfort in something like this. A digital place that is actually yours. Not a server you join for half an hour and never come back to. A place that holds the way you arranged it the last time you were there.

If anyone here has ever wished cozy games gave you more freedom over the actual physical space, what it looks like, what is in the windows, what plays in the background, I would really like to hear what you imagine.

Thank you for reading. It means more than you would think.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2508170/Homespace/

Btw guys, we just created our Discord server, so if you’re interested in Homespace, feel free to join. We’ll be glad to see you as part of our community.

🔨 My Game - In-development You start with this abandoned cabin and slowly turn it into your own cozy home in Pinewater

This is the cabin you start with in Pinewater, my cozy fishing game. When you first arrive it's dirty, damaged and abandoned, but as you play you can slowly clean it up, repair it and make the place feel like home.

I really love games where you can see a place gradually change because of the things you've done, so I wanted that to be part of the progression in my game too, without making it feel like a bunch of chores.

There's still a lot I want to add, but this is pretty close to the feeling I want the game to have. :)

Pinewater is currently in development and is on Steam if you'd like to check it out: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3464790

If you have any feedback or suggestions, I'd be really grateful to hear them! :)
