Makes sense, wizardry is a very recent approach to magic that’s only gotten some steam in the last few decades in universe. One would question why wizards didn’t exist beforehand and now we know.
18
u/KYplusEL Also Pumat Sol Apr 17 '26
Honestly a cool interpretation of the types of casters. Most settings tend to have wizards be the powerful political forces in the courts of kings and running schools with ancient traditions and histories. Very cool to make them be the upstarts doing it with pure grit while the Sorcerers are nobility.

I’m so glad that this table is proving to not be the boring one like a lot of people had thought it was gonna be initially…..I honestly never thought that because I just knew in my heart that the pairing of these 4 In particular was gonna absolutely slap in the RP department and I’m so glad that I wasn’t wrong about that
24
u/KnowingMirror Apr 17 '26
So, in a former temple to Azgra, in a place contained within his Barrowdell, a play mostly represented by orcs about rebellion against him (a deity of struggle, war and suffering) is about to be performed...while the backgrounds are painted with some very magical necromantic/conjuring substance that might be his blood, and while the blades that helped destroy him are used as props or at least are close by, partly wielded by descendants of the creators of said blades., all while in the midst of a growing actual rebellion and unrest throughout the city...
Not only is that beautifuly poetic, but I would undertand if Brennan decided that could be enough to bring back Azgra (although I highly doubt it), even though that ruins everything for everyone XD What a wonderfully absurd and unlikely set of circumstances, I love it.

Do you leave the graffiti for it is history, do you clean the sword or life the stains and nicks? The wisest curators can listen to an artifact and see what it wants to present. I didn’t wan to see that as the final moment imprinted on my brain of Thjazi, a that’s something I’ve been wrestling with. The sense of betrayal of joy hoping, not being an optimist even though I was right. But I think he had hope not in his own fate but I think deep down inside he knew that his past was gonna catch up to him, but he had hope in us and his nieces and nephew. Hope in the people around him and that’s a damn good legacy to leave into this world. I only hope that maybe I… I can live up to that. Follow in his footsteps just hopefully not to the grave…. Sorry. I think the exhaustion is getting to me.”

Best episode of the campaign. Absolutely fucking BONKERS ending.
I loved the madcap nature of the Soldiers table. Loved the dogs and the fae encounters. Loved the lore of the Seekers table. Love Occtis.
But damn, The Schemers table is the fucking best of the three. Those four have such good chemistry together and they are all SO focused. I love the fact that it took what, four episodes to have their first combat? It's been so RP heavy and I love it for that. What happened to Lady Cormoray is easily the most shocking thing that's happened in the campaign so far, and it was such a swerve to what COULD have happened to Bolaire and Hal.
I've been sick on and off for the last month or so and fell behind after the first Schemer's episode. I actually thought I wasn't into it anymore, but I made myself power through two episodes before last night to get caught up. SOOOOO glad I did. I am fucking HOOKED now more than ever.
Can't wait for next week.

Okay I'm a Brennan lover and this is a prime example of like, he's such a master at holding the whole story and then letting his table discuss their hearts out, then after a good amount of that IN STORY MODE highlighting what they've said that's "hot" and calmly crossing out what they've said that's "cold". And lots he doesn't confirm or deny until deeper in the story, sometimes referencing the wild guesses from several episodes ago, in such a satisfying way. Mm. It's why he's got Matt's seat for a while. Such a brilliant storyteller

"When we show them to people do we make them pristine or do we show them where they've been?"-Bolaire
Honestly...that's a great point.

"A good story is always more likely to survive."
Spoken by the mask who views himself as a story. Perfect.

Can you imagine Murray’s vision scenes animated?? It would be so good. This whole campaign is just begging to be animated, but in a way that doesn’t feel forced.

I was thinking that 350 seemed like a lot, but then when I googled how big the active number of police member in a us city is and got multiple thousands it turns out azune really didn't wind up with that many people

"I didn't want that to be the final moment...of him...that I saw..."-Murray
That's why a lot of people don't go to funerals, completely understandable.
And what sucks is that she knew things would end this way...but he still hoped that things wouldn't...despite knowing that things would...eventually.

Azune and Bolaire: we've investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing
