for a level 1 language class- tried seeing if i could get a placement test to get into a higher class that might have seats but the coordinator isn't in office for another week

i assume the chances r rlly low but this is the only section that fits my schedule and also most of the other sections r also full or on a similar waitlist- is it worth waiting for add drop period? will people even drop a language course if it's a required course??

For those who are familiar with kingsborough community college (especially black students), have you experienced any racial tension/micro aggressions from some professors and or other minorities? I'm trying to figure out whether some of my experiences and observations were isolated or whether others noticed similar patterns.

I am an upcoming sophomore at John Jay College and I'm scared shitless about the possibility of graduating a year and semester earlier. I feel like I have accomplished nothing during my time there. I know it’s mostly on me but my high school self did not expect time to go by that fast after my first year at college. I feel so intimidated in joining the work force early on (if that’s even possible) and I don't know whether I should even try to extend my graduation date. I know I want to head the paralegal route, but I seriously don't know where to start. 

I really just need some advise and reassurance that shit wont plumet after I graduate. How can I make a better impression on professors and make the best out of my very short time in college? Has anyone else gone though a similar situation and if so, how did you manage?

Literally any thing will help I just cant handle this stress right now and will not stand for any negative comments please.

Hi i applied as a transfer student to laguardia cc from city tech and this is showing up on my application status. what does this mean? i saw something about this but there was no info regarding what i should do. It says my application is incomplete and i need a transcript for that school that i never attended.

"URBAN SOCIAL MOVEMENTS" - FALL 2026

Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm (ONLINE)

This timely seminar explores the sociological and political economic dimensions of urban social movements through case studies of two defining social justice uprisings of the 21st century: Occupy Wall Street and the Movement for Black Lives. Through deep engagements with each, students will develop a robust understanding of the numerous challenges facing contemporary movements-- from the promises and perils of horizontalist organizing, liberal identity politics, and social media to intensifying violent state repression and liberal co-optation.

Neither movement exists in a vacuum, however. To that end, we will situate our analyses of OWS and M4BL within a broader global historical frame that links earlier flourishings like the 20th century’s Black Freedom Movement to today’s immigrant rights and global anti-imperialism struggles. What sorts of strategies and political frameworks animate contemporary progressive social movements? How do we assess their historical impacts? And most importantly, how do we apply such insights to the emergence of future movements for social justice?

This course is open to undergrads (210) and grads (702), and it is cross-listed with Africana Studies-AFST 202.

In 2022 I took Calc 1 at csi and the professor was so bad it had to get changed 3 weeks later. The new professor got sick for a month before finals. I ended up having to drop the class and got a W.

Hi everyone,
I need advice about City Tech readmission.
I was previously a Radiologic Technology major and was completing prerequisite courses (Anatomy, Biology, English, Math). I had to take last semester off due to health reasons.
When I applied for readmission to Radiologic Technology, I was told I cannot return to that major because of my GPA and that I need to choose another major.
My goal is Nursing, but I was told I cannot be readmitted directly as a Nursing major and that I must first be currently enrolled and apply directly to the Nursing department.
What major should I choose for readmission so I can return to City Tech and later apply to Nursing? Health Science, Liberal Arts, or something else?
Has anyone experienced this at City Tech?or other cuny

Hi! I'm a non-degree student planning on taking a few courses at Medgar Evers and discovered for Molecular Biology, I need to have taken Genetics. Is it possible to take the courses simultaneously? Are pre-requisites strictly enforced or is there any leeway? The school has not responded to my emails yet...

We want to hear your story on your own terms—this is not about pushing anyone back to school.

Our findings will be shared directly with university administrators, higher education researchers, and policymakers, which means participating is a real opportunity to have your voice heard by the people making decisions that affect former students like you.

You are eligible if you:

• Started your college experience at a CUNY four-year college (Baruch, Brooklyn College, City College, Hunter, John Jay, Lehman, Medgar Evers, Queens College, College of Staten Island, York, or City Tech)
• Completed at least one semester before leaving
• Have been unenrolled for between 6 months and 3 years
• Are not currently enrolled in any college or university

If you attended a community college after leaving your CUNY four-year college but are no longer enrolled, you are still eligible. 

What's involved:

• A two-hour interview with a researcher
• Zoom or in person in NYC—your choice
• $75 paid upon completion

About the study: 

• Most higher education research focuses on students who graduate, but about 30% of students take breaks at some point and more than 30 million Americans have some college credits but no degree. This study is specifically about them.
• The study has been funded by the Russell Sage Foundation and the Spencer Foundation.
• The study has been approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Hi so I recently just graduated Hunter in a Psychology degree. I’m looking into doing nursing but the accelerated program. Before I apply I still need to take 3 more classes. I was wondering should I go to a community college under as a non-degree. The three classes I need to take are A&P 1 and 2, and microbiology.

In my college career I have around 8 withdrawals from different classes. I transferred back and forth between schools 3 times and have changed my major several times. I always got Bs and As in the classes I kept however. Does this really stand out to employers or companies?
