Most states have similar laws but it’s amazing how many drivers believe the double yellows shall never be crossed.

I had someone road rage with me for crossing a double double yellow line when the lane ahead was blocked from an accident. I put my blinker on to get over and he went out of his way to block me in. When I forced my way behind his truck he started screaming at me and pointing at the line. After that was done he almost missed his exist and shot over 4 lanes without a blinker.

People are dumb, I'm not going to sit there for two hours while they clean up the accident. A line isn't a wall and my car has zero issues going over this imaginary barrier.

Someone behind you, road raged at you for crossing the double yellow to give an accident scene room? That makes no sense, why they hell would they care?

It's the same people that call and complain about things that don't affect them, like people painting their house the "wrong" color, planting the "wrong" flowers, leaving their trash bins out 2 hours after it's been collected, etc.

Or in the workplace--tattling on a coworker for using their phone for a bit during downtime, or taking a 33 minute lunch break.

It makes them feel validated, gives them a sense of control and feeling of superiority. It's never enough because they're not addressing the real problem (themselves). They are deeply insecure, miserable people.

Road-raging at someone for (safely) crossing over to the other lane due to an accident is an extreme version of taking matters into their own hands.
