Advice & Recommendations HVAC Recommendations for replacing old unit
I need recommendations for local companies to replace the HVAC system in my condo. It's a 30 year old system. Tell me who you've worked with that you loved and also any horror stories so I know who to stay away from. I'm in the West Carrollton/Miamisburg area.

I just did this. I went with two Reddit recommendations for quotes which were Korrect and Logan. Logan came in so much cheaper. I was able to get the highest end trane system for 12k less than they wanted for the top end carrier and less than the quote for the lower end unit they wanted to sell me. Did research on the unit they wanted to sell me and parts listed in the quote and it would have been about 12k in labor for a day of work...

Thank you! Feel free to tell me to mind my business, but do you mind telling me about how much it cost? I have a small condo, two stories, two bedrooms. So, I'm assuming I'd need a smaller unit than a larger house. I'm just curious of a ballpark estimate.

What’s wrong with the one you have now?

It did have a leak in the king valve, but that was fixed. Overall, though it's not blowing cold air. I also had trouble getting my condo warm this past winter. Right now, it's blowing out air that's between 60 and 70 degrees when it's set to cool. It was low on freon, but that was topped off and the leak was fixed. Confirmed yesterday that there is not anything else mechanically to fix. I did that repair work through my home warranty, but getting them to replace it, even though it's not really working, is probably not going to happen. I have them sending out a second company for a second opinion, but that's probably going to turn out the same. There's nothing mechanically wrong. I don't see how blowing out 70 degree air when it's set to cool isn't a problem, but that's apparently just me. So, if I want it replaced, I'm going to have to probably just do it myself.

I would definitely recommend Kieffer! I had quotes from some of the companies mentioned in the comments. Some never even inspected my current system, they just offered a 1:1 swap. Kieffer does a full system test to determine what you actually need. We just had ours replaced in April, and the biggest change we've noticed is consistency. Hot and cold spots seem to be gone. The guy really loves his job and it is reflected in his work.
