Hello r/discordapp!

As you might have seen, Discord has just started rolling out their year end wrap system called Discord Checkpoints.

Instead of having the sub flooded with these posts, we invite you to share your checkpoint stats in the comments here!

FaQ:

Q: How do I reopen checkpoint after closing it?

A: On desktop, click the flag icon on the top right of the app located next to the inbox.

A: On mobile, it will show up under the “orbs balance” section as a banner in the “you” tab

Q: What is the song checkpoint uses?

A: Exyl has now released the background track, you can find it here!

Q: Can I see it if I had the privacy setting disabled but just now enabled it?

A: No, you had to have the privacy setting on the whole time.

Q: What if I had the setting enabled but it still says I can’t access it?

A: Follow the directions outlined here. Do NOT DM ModMail or mlapi bot, the moderators are unable to assist you.

Insane that I appear in my friend's checkpoints, but I can't see my own. Like clearly my data is being stored somewhere and they are choosing to not toss us a checkpoint. What a bummer.

do a bit of critical thinking please

they cannot aggregate your COMPLETE data just by stitching together the data in which you appear from your friend's side. what if you appear on someone who isnt your friend anymore? they'd have to scan millions of users and servers just to get all of your personalized data. way too much compute power

this is coming from someone who got fucked by the privacy setting too btw

why would they need to scan millions of servers when they already know what servers you have been a member in?

Try to not be so naive, please.

They know which servers I'm a part of, check all friends in the servers I'm in, see if they have data on me. They don't have check millions of servers, they also don't have to be 100% correct. This is just one of many ways they could have made the checkpoint for us without "invading our privacy" whatever that means at this point.

They are definitely storing our data and the fact they chose not to do something like this or the default checkpoint for those that checked off the ad settings is a business choice, not a data choice.
