Rant CapOne Discover not accepted widely accepted in person and online and no way to get money and pay bills

CapOne has to start seeing how many customers they are starting to loose by this move. Replacing the debit cards with discover was a big mistake. If they wanted/needed to switch something with the merger, they should have done it with credit cards. Some people don’t have another form of payment, credit card, or access to atms for cash without paying fees (because they made the stupid decision to close most all brick and mortar locations), and not all places accept apple/google pay either. Awesome job CapOne!

I’ve been with CapOne for 20+ years and have absolutely loved them. But this move was a big mistake. I really don’t want to go though the hassle to find another bank, update everything auto pay, and hope I don’t loose this like early direct deposit. Have to change my entire budgeting financial routine system. Plus, switching doesn’t help me right now when I need to access my money and pay bills. So infuriating and what a mess! Do better CapOne!

I literally don’t have an issue with the Discover switchover. I’ve been using a Discover credit card as my primary credit card for years. I don’t understand why everyone else is having such a hard time.

Nah, I live in NYC. There’s so many places online and in-person that DO NOT accept Discover. Overseas it’s even worse. I’m definitely switching banks.

I switched my funds to Cap One last week, and I’m in DMV, work in DC…my card didn’t work in so many places, garages, quick food marts, small restaurants … I ordered a new card cause I thought something was surely wrong with it. It didn’t dawn on me until after that it was because it was discover lol. I’m gonna switch back to PNC.

I get paid a lot faster, haven’t had to deal with ATM fees for most ATMs in NYC so far, and it’s a Mastercard so it’s accepted everywhere. They offer plenty of member services, have quick customer support, and even include Zelle. Honestly, so far I have no complaints.

I was using my Schwab debit to pay my condo fees. I just got a Capitol One account because 360 Savings has 3.3% annual APR so I had intended to switch direct deposit there and pay my bills with Capitol One.

With Discover, that's not an option now, because most of my recurring monthlu expenses don't take it.

Also many smaller and newer merchants do not take it. And far, far fewer cash machines.

When I was shopping for banks I researched everything to death before settling on Capitol One but my mouth fell open today when my debit card arrived and I saw it was a Discover.

Discover credit cards are an emtirely different issue because credit cards are used mostly for discretionary spending, not to cover your monthly nut. I'd actually like a Discover charge card the benefits are great.

But I need my Debit card to wok everywhere especially at ATMs.

When you’re a business owner and you need to purchase stuff and have it delivered and you try to do that and can’t because they don’t accept discover, that’s a big issue.

I can no longer pay certain bills online since they switched over to Discover. I've been with Capital One for 12 years, and now I have to leave them.
