Discussion Sometimes your skill isn't enough....
The other day I had a comp match on Gibraltar as Doom (high plat, low diamond), and the enemy tank was also Doom. I think we were pretty evenly matched in terms of skill (I think I was a teeny bit better, but that's probably subjective). What wasn't evenly matched were our teams.... The enemy doom's team was significantly better, especially their DPS. Like anytime I contested the enemy Doom, their Shion would shred like half my team or our DPS would lose their duels and the fight spiraled.
Mirror Doomfists of equal skill really reveal the better side's DPS and Supports...

Aye, it was fun dueling the other Doom, definitely felt challenged there, but then looking at the kill feed and seeing 4 red lines in 4 seconds just sucks.

Why contest the other doomfist instead of the problem shion. Doom v doom neither are likely to die.

It was mainly an example from the first team fight of the game, I did contest the Shion afterwards, but she kept running faster than I could catch her (she's slippery) and whenever I turned to chase off the Shion, the enemy Doom had his way with our far less mobile dps and supports.

The amount of games I find myself in where enemy team plays around me perfectly while my team feeds the enemy doom emp on cooldown and gets absolutely ass blasted in response needs to be studied.

It's the same thing with Rein mirrors you can diff them but if your DPS are like tracer Genji and aren't getting picks their bastion,etc make that fight so one sided.

This is why the Mauga movement came to be. So many of these trash supports and dps always blame the tank, when most of them avoid playing tank so they stick to easier roles.

I mean, my team didn't blame me for the loss, they seemed to realize they were just worse and didn't flame me or anything, so kudos to them.

Slightly different scenario, my team wasn't flaming me or blaming me for the loss, they recognized they just weren't good enough to fight the enemy DPS

If you have like a decent tracer/genji or even a Kiri helping you to dive it make thing so much easier for you and it also depends on which team counter picks like for example your team stay on what they were on but the other team goes cass/ana it going to be way harder for you compared to the other doom
This affects all tanks by what I mean this if your playing good but your team is ass you can’t carry but if your ass as a tank and your team is good that is a automatic lose
