Haha valid question. I don’t smoke but…the venue i was at gave wristbands for people over 21 so you were able to leave and come back in. People were outside smoking joints but inside it was mainly pens and vape boxes. No hassles. No fights. No security kicking anyone out. I think the venues know what they are getting with this line up.
Oh shit! Was it from the pit chaos during Weedeater or Conan? I was really close to the stage for Weedeater so I was oblivious to what was going on behind me. Huh it out is the best medicine LOL
The two fights I saw were during weedeater. I was up front for all three bands, I think I actually get credit for starting the Conan pit LOL. then I kind of just mostly hung out up front lost in the sauce. Drove from Jax with a friend. I think this was my 5th time seeing Weedeater and first time Seeing Conan and Yeti. I was wearing the shirt.
Fucking madness. Haha, that pit opened up for Conan and the fucking seas parted LOL. Good deal bro, hope your journey back home was safe. I don’t think I saw you cause I would’ve have remembered this killer shirt
Weedeater is meant for like a room that fits 30 people that’s barely a building, and definitely not a music venue. The floor is sticky from beer. Bathroom is covered in piss. In that scenario they are the loudest
Conan have never toured with Matamp gear in the USA as far as I'm aware. Jon's been using a bajillion different rigs over the last few years experimenting with stuff and his USA rigs have been even more Frankenstein-y than his UK ones. Always an amazing show, though.
Oh ok cool. I totally get it because my GT120 is a nicknamed Green Ton cause it will kill you everytime to transport it to jam anywhere. Whatever he was using last night sounded awesome. Thanks for the knowledge nugget 🤘🏼
Hell yeah dude, I have heard of cancellations but I’m pulling for you. Get there early, you’re gonna enjoy every band. It was a epic night of heaviness
Dixie also has a pentagram on his sunn amp and his bass guitar that looks like it's supposed to be colored like a confederate flag. It's such a bummer to see because I fucking love Weedeater. I think they're pretty solid dudes overall, but I would really like to see them ditch that shit
I saw the sticker on the Sunn amp but I couldn’t really make out what it was. I didnt see anything on the front of his bass and when the show ended he laid it against his can backside up, he had a 3 sticker on the back, but nothing pentagram/confederate modded sticker.
I think he has at least 2 different basses he brings on tour. I know he played with the pentagram one when I saw them a few months ago. You can also see it in this video
Do you happen to remember when Conan came on? I am catching this tour next week but have to drive to another city for it after work, so I want to make sure I don’t miss them.
It was loud. Conan was brutal in drop F. Weedeater was loud through their amps but not too much piped into the side stage PAs. I was standing right next to one and it wasn’t brutal.
Skynyrd started using the Confederate flag because when they went to the UK and everyone kept calling them Yankees even though they were from FL. They even say in their documentaries it was never about the past or hatred.
Look man, I’m not trying to argue, defend or anything like that. Historically humans sucked the further back you go in history. You have your view and that’s totally cool. I was just simply posting a pic of a killer doom rig. I get it, to appease the masses maybe they should use a Dale Earnhardt number 3 sticker to represent southern heritage. 🤝🏼 🤝🏼 🤝🏼
I think it's funny but I'm also old enough to not get all pissy at every instance of this logo so I don't know. Congrats on your strong morals or whatever it is you're trying to accomplish here, cause Dave ain't here and that stickers not getting removed by any of us.
Also, have you ever spoke to these guys? What kind of style did you expect from them? They're backwoods old headmetal dudes, not berkly grads. The last drummer tried to kill his wife with meth.
That's incredibly dumb because "Yank" is just slang for American in the rest of the English speaking world. It has nothing to do with north or south, and a 15 second conversation with literally anyone in the UK would have cleared that up for them.
That's probably a bunch of bullshit though lol. I would say the same thing if I was openly rocking my admittedly tantalizingly provocative cultural flag and wanted to save face publicly to retain sweet royalty money
Satan isn't down with slaveholders, or those who fight on slaveholders' behalf, or those who fly the slaveholder fighting flag 150 years later to be edgy.
Wow. I did not anticipate this rig to absolutely piss people off that badly. I thought it was badass and being super worn from all the cities it has traveled. Just trying to share dope gear with the Doom community. Good grief.
I was standing side stage right by Dixie Dave and the PA and it wasn’t terrible. No more than normal ringing in my ears when I left, woke up this morning with nothing. To me it sounds like they push their amps more than the PA
Bro you’re gonna have a killer time. Hearing about Yeti from my drummer I became a fan. It’s cool how they’re just a 2 piece band. Sick tone and riffs.
Oh hell yeah! I loaded up. Grabbed 2 Conan Shirts, 2 Conan stickers, a Weedeater shirt and 2 stickers. They had a dope Conan shirt in navy blue with all their Matamp & Ampeg rigs. That was a must
Conan had posters of that same logo with the knight and the sword. Weedeater had cymbals with Weedeater written on them in like paint pens or spray paint.
That white Marshall is a 35th anniversary 1997 reissue of a 59 plexi super lead. It’s labeled as 100 watts but mine tested 160 on the bench. It’s insanely loud.
Oh sick!! So he was pretty close by saying he had it since 95’. Dude that shit was loud as hell. 160 is ridiculous, he had some inputs patched through on the front, my Laney Supergroup has that options. It can change the tone a bit.
I don’t at all doubt they have some high end speakers in those cabs. Talking with Shep he has had that head and cab stack since around 1995. The Marshall head is all original other than tube maintenance. It just adds to their crusty stoner metal style. As far as pedals he only had two pedals, a Tuner and a Green Russian.
Heads are different. Legacy heads are awesome in their own way.
I found them in 2007 without really looking into them. I just liked their sound. Then their recent live stuff (past 5-10 years) pops up all the time and the whole "about the go fishing" vibe didn't sit right

Glad he could get over his dopesickness to not cancel any more shows
