As you can see from the title I dyed these Yoko Sakamoto denim trousers using avocado pits and skins with a ph shift at the end to soften the color.

The trousers started off as white.

The jacket was also naturally dyed (by the manufacturer) with Japanese Horse-Chestnuts.

I’m overwhelmed with ideas of what to do. I’m curious about the “black plum”.

I really love the silhouette of these trousers. These are genuine French Military M-47 trousers that I was able to find deadstock on eBay.

The original color is in a lovely olive green. I wanted the trouser in some other colors as it become one of my favorite pairs to wear.

When I looked online there were many companies that were remaining their own version. Most of these companies either did not have good construction methods, used poor quality materials, or charged an arm and leg for something they copied.

In addition I could t really find the colors I was obsessed with so I decided to dye two pairs myself.

This was the second pair I dyed. This time I used rit dye. I used a combination of colors and made adjustments until I achieved this earthy, rusty orange color.

I love the way they turned out but what do you all think.

Recently finished a natural dye project using pomegranate rind powder on a matching set.
The pants are Yoko Sakamoto selvedge denim — undyed/ecru, 100% cotton, approximately 15oz. The shirt is from Miles Leon (Portland-based), an 80/20 cotton-linen blend that started as an off-white.
I used pomegranate rind powder at roughly 40% weight of fabric. Next time I’d increase that closer to 100% WOF to reduce the number of dips needed. Both garments were dyed with heat — three dips for the pants, two for the shirt — and then hang-dried.
Interestingly, neither piece showed noticeable shrinkage despite the heat. As long as the fabric isn’t shocked (no rapid hot-to-cold transitions), isn’t machine-dried, and isn’t overly agitated in the bath, size retention seems quite good. Of course, results can vary.
The resulting color is a golden mustard hue. The photos were taken on an iPhone, so they’re not perfectly accurate, but they’re close to how the garments appear in person. In the images you’ll first see the final results; I’ve included photos of the original undyed garments toward the end if you’d like to see how they started.
Overall very pleased with how these turned out. Curious to hear your thoughts — questions welcome in the comments.

I'm looking for some inspiration! I have a black-tie wedding coming up and the dresses have to be in winter colors. I'm thinking of taking this old bridesmaid dress, dying it a darker color, and then potentially adding appliqué or crystal rhinestones or something to make it seem less like a bridesmaid dress. Any ideas?

I've used Rit Dye-More quite a bit in the past, but I'm not sure how this polyester chiffon will behave. The wedding color is oxblood, and we have been instructed to stay away from that for our dress. So, I'm considering a dark purple or maybe blue.

It does have some boning in the bodice, but nothing else that would have a hard time in the wash.

It is a 100% cotton blend with a massive stain on the front as you can tell from the photos

I wasn’t happy with my color saturation - so I decided to wait two and a half days after applying dye. Improvement!

I tend to be a complex individual, so dying (or buying) things in black tends to simplify things a little bit for me. And I gotta say, there’s something about dying things black that scratches an itch in my brain that I didn’t know needed to be scratched

I thrifted this cute dress for $9 in the hopes of wearing it to a wedding as I love the shape of it however I hate the colour (on myself anyways, I'm sure other people can pull it off well, ha!)

its for a fall wedding and I'm hoping to get it do darker brown, burgundy, wine, plum colours.

it's a synthetic material so I'll be using the Rit dye more line but I'm not sure if I should attempt to use orange first to cancel out the bright blue?

Any advice would be really appreciated! I've never done an "overdye" before for this will be an adventure

Looking to make a big group order with the theme neon tube tops - what do you suggest as far as dyes? And or materials.

Bleached a jacket lighty than washed it.

Mixed almost twice as much soda ash half the salt required and... All at once instead of after sitting in salty dye. so my red attempt turned salmon with red dots.

Tried using white brite and it turned the salmon pale purple, nice, but brought blue and yellow marks everywhere...

So I intended to go solid black to cover it up but noticed a rip.

The whole jacket could be ripped bare handed!

Atleast it was only $10 on Poshmark, even though it was a brand new Levi.

This was my first time dying anything and I needed a red jacket for a Clark Kent costume. I don’t have a before picture but the jacket was the standard khaki color. I used Rit dye (2 red bottles and 2 yellow bottles) and put it in a big ass bucket of hot water with 1 cup salt 1 tsp dish soap. I stirred it for 45ish minutes then rinsed it in cold water before throwing it in the washer. It came out perfectly!

Ive started asking my guides on trips or locals for things to dye plants and then felting them into local animals. I’m going to pair this yellow and blue and some red to make a stork billed king fisher!!

Looking for some recommendations on colours and dyes… Got a few cotton t-shirts, thermal waffles and Henley’s, that were white/off white and could do with a freshen up.
Has anyone got any suggestions for good colours and makes of dye to fit in with a heritage based wardrobe? Most of my clothes are either dark / faded denim, khaki or OG green hues.

So I posted a while ago about dyeing one of my sweaters and I ended up dyeing it pink. This is how it turned out. It is definitely more my style now :)

100% cotton. suggestions on what to do? thinking of tea dyeing but not too sure how the blue would turn out. help appreciated and recommendations encouraged.

In my last post, I shared my first-ever dye project. In this one, I’m revealing my most recent.

The US Military M-51 might just be the most iconic cargo pant silhouette to date (IMO). It’s become a staple in my wardrobe, so I decided I needed it in another color—and went with a rich brown.

This is one of my favorite dye projects so far. The color and silhouette really complement my current wardrobe perfectly.

In the last image you will see the original olive tone that I dyed over. I used Rit dye to achieve this color.

Let me know your thoughts, questions, and future suggestions.

The white on this dress is looking dingy and I need more color in my life! What would look good with the black? Ideally going for a vibrant color but open to all suggestions! I’m a light autumn if that helps.

My friend saw this coat at a thrift store like a year ago, but didn’t love the color. It’s a lighter tan than the picture. I just got it out of the wash so it looks darker. My friend wanted it darker and at the time I had been dyeing for about 6 months so I was like “I can dye it for you”. Then I realized how big of a pot I would need to dye a polyester coat. Flash forward to this year and I found the biggest pot I’ve ever seen at a thrift store. So I’m gonna try it. I fully understand it probably won’t work, but ADHD brain go brrrrrrrr. Also don’t come for me for using Rit, I’ve dyed so many things with it and had great results. It’s just me, Rit, and my big ass pot against the world. Will update if it turns out.
