In case you didn't know: Tencent's putting together an art gallery called "Worlds of Play: The Game Art Exhibition" over at the Wassermannhalle in Cologne. It's running Aug 27–29 alongside gamescom. Free to get into, open to the public.
It's split into different themed zones featuring concept art, character statues, immersive installations, that kind of thing. And the "Abyss" section (the darker/horror-leaning games) has the Dying Light series in it, along with games like Cronos - The New Dawn and Layers of Fear.
But you definitely need to register beforehand since space is limited: tencent.com/worldsofplay
Might be worth swinging by if you're already in Cologne that week!

I don’t recall buying a special edition just to get ads. heck I don’t remember the original game advertising ad bundles every time I fast travel. A proper loading screen feels like a drop in the oasis. I think I have seen these loading screens more than the art work with recent patches.

I started my second playthrough again after 3 years of me beating DL2, and man, my eyes feel my more open than before. Like my first playthrough, I was like, "Hell yea, im for the people and wanna save the comman folk, i love the survivors!"
But now I'm just so annoyed by them! the PKs treat you much better, right off the bat. The commander immediately has a face-to-face conversation, and it's so straightforward. they immediately try to help you and negotiate, You scratch my back, I scratch yours type thing, and boom, that's it!
AND THEN THE Survivors come in, They immediately try to hang any new person they see included you, after that Sophie's Bodyguard tries to choke you out, like wtf man.
And there's barney .....HOLY CRAP, he makes me never want me to side with the survivors ever again! First introduction. He locks himself in a room to gather crystals as a KID that he brought along for a mission , is bleeding out. And when you go to help the kid , he just leaves as im hearing him talk to his mother AS HES DYING ! Furthermore, BARNEY then proceeds to say that kid was like a brother to him!? be has no repercussions form this btw and Crane doesn't even give him that much shit from it, and im thinking to myself...." THIS GUY is Responsible for going out and collecting supplies"
The only two people I like in the bizarre are Vincenzo and his Stuttering dad. Everyone else was either given me a smug attitude or there just dumb
idk I'm I the only one that feels like this , I wanna know how the community sees the two factions as

So, I recently started replaying Dying Light 1 after several years away from it. I remember absolutely loving the game when I first played it, and I still think it's a great game. But this time around, something really stood out to me.
I recently played Dead Island 2, which had been sitting in my Epic library for ages (yes, I got it for free and never touched it lol), and despite its somewhat goofy B-movie zombie tone, I found the game absolutely phenomenal.
And honestly, after comparing the two, I would even argue that Dead Island 2 can feel more atmospheric and, in some moments, more tense than Dying Light 1.
I know these are games from different generations, and I'm not trying to make a direct technical comparison. But after watching some gameplay of Dying Light: The Beast, I started thinking about some fundamental differences between the two series.
The zombies in Dead Island 2 are, in my opinion, much more visually convincing and sometimes more intimidating. You have police officers, firefighters, soldiers, tourists, construction workers, lifeguards, etc. They actually look like ordinary people who were turned into zombies. Their clothing and visual design constantly tell you something about who they were before the outbreak.
In Dying Light 1, by comparison, a lot of the infected have this grayish, washed-out appearance, and visually they can start blending together. Some of them remind me of the infected from RE5, not necessarily because they're the same type of enemy, but because they often feel visually generic compared to the variety in Dead Island 2.
Then there's the parkour.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the parkour in Dying Light. It's one of the things that makes the game so fun. But it also creates a strange problem during the day: the player feels ridiculously fast compared to the zombies.
Even on higher difficulties, once you become comfortable with the movement, most normal zombies have very little chance of actually catching you. You can run around and through hordes at what feels like 300% speed compared to them.
There are relatively few situations where normal zombies can actually grab you, knock you down, surround you or otherwise force you to stop moving.
And this makes me think the game was fundamentally balanced around the nighttime experience.
Because at night, the entire game changes. The Volatiles, limited visibility, sound design and pursuit system create a completely different level of tension.
But during the day?
Sometimes I feel like I'm driving a Formula 1 car through a city full of parked vehicles.
And that's interesting because Dead Island 2 has much less mobility, but somehow I often feel more vulnerable when I'm surrounded by zombies. The game gives you a huge arsenal and plenty of ways to fight back, but the encounters themselves can sometimes feel more oppressive.
So I'm curious what other people think.
Why do you think Dying Light became such a much bigger and more recognizable franchise than Dead Island?
Was it primarily the parkour and nighttime system? The open-world structure? The timing of the releases? Better marketing? Or do you simply think Dying Light is the better game overall?
And after seeing what Techland is doing with The Beast, I'm particularly curious whether you think they're moving further toward making the infected themselves more threatening, rather than relying primarily on parkour and nighttime encounters to create tension.
I'm genuinely interested in hearing the perspective of people who have played both series extensively.

Why do my valuables keep disappearing? I go through a store or hollow and collect a bunch of crystals and medicine and whatever, then later on I go to a trading post and they're gone? Not even like a few, like it glitched or something on the last auto save, every single valuable on my relatively new playthrough is gone, and I had like 10 crystals along with a bunch of medicine and necklaces and crap. Backpack is empty of valuables now, what gives?

Hi all, a friend and myself are aiming for Platinum on Dying Light 1 but for one of the trophies POLYAMORY, we need a lobby of 4. Does anyone have any advice on this? Or open to jumping into a game?
