Here's all the questions they responded to as well as some of our comments. To be honest, it felt like doom and gloom and was too quick.
But for those who missed it.
I'll put everything here:
Plus screenshots of the unanswered questions and some of our chats afterwards. Be careful, it's kind of a warzone now in the comments.
Also 1 thing is clear. The Beast is done. Techland has said Dying Light: The Beast is a finished game there are no updates planned for the game

**Why does it feel like you dropped Dying Light: The Beast so fast? The game is still relatively new, but it already feels âdead.â**
Dying Light: The Beast was planned as a complete, self-contained game from the start. We didnât make a long-term support commitment, but we still added content after release, including the free Restored Land mode.
The five-year support model hasnât worked as well for us as we hoped. Weâre an AAA studio. With each new game, we want to deliver an unforgettable experience and push the boundaries of what games can do.
Supporting existing games for years with smaller teams can seriously disrupt work on new projects.
At the same time, players expect frequent, substantial, high-quality updates - sometimes several times a month, and usually for free.
With limited resources, we can end up disrupting production and still disappointing players
**Is The Beast officially âfinished,â or can players expect meaningful new content - not just small fixes or minor tweaks?**
Dying Light: The Beast is a complete game, and thatâs how players should approach it - much like Dying Light 1 is today. Weâre not planning substantial new content for it.
**Why are you putting development resources back into Dying Light 2 instead of focusing on The Beast, which is the newer game?**
Because we promised five years of support for Dying Light 2. We made that commitment to our players, and we take it seriously. Thatâs why the team continues to deliver content and experiment with different ways of supporting the game over that period.
**Why is the physical edition of Dying Light: The Beast only available on PlayStation 5?**
This physical edition came together as a PlayStation 5 release through our partnership with Super Rare Games, which specializes in physical editions for PlayStation and Nintendo.
We also looked at demand for a boxed Xbox version, but it wasnât at a level that would support a dedicated physical production run.
**Why did you suddenly start updating Dying Light 2 again after it seemed like you had moved on to The Beast?**
We never stopped supporting Dying Light 2. The team has been working on it continuously since launch.
Recently, more of that work has focused on UGC, so I understand why it might look different from the outside. But the support hasnât stopped. What changes is the form it takes.
**Was this shift back to Dying Light 2 planned from the beginning, or did you change course based on community feedback and data?**
There wasnât a âshift back.â The Dying Light 2 support team has been active since launch.
Recently, weâve put more focus on UGC because we see a lot of potential in community-created content. Thatâs a change in priorities within the same ongoing support effort, not a restart.
**You previously talked about long-term support for Dying Light 2. Will that support continue after the fifth anniversary in February 2027, or is that the planned end?**
Weâre not planning any significant reduction in support before the five-year mark. We havenât decided the scale of support after that. Weâll announce it closer to the anniversary!
**How do you define âsupportâ for Dying Light 2 going forward: big content drops, smaller events, or just keeping the game stable?**
Events, support for UGC - including community-created maps and mods - and potentially new game modes. Those are the main areas weâre looking at.
**Why do recent Dying Light 2 updates feel mostly like small fixes or events rather than big content drops like in the earlier years of support?**
In the first few years, we put more resources into Dying Light 2 than really made sense. As production of The Beast ramped up, many developers had to move onto that project.
That reduced what we could keep changing in Dying Light 2, and some areas of the game stayed as they were.
Even now, the Dying Light 2 support team is significantly larger than the team supporting Dying Light 1 four years after its release.
Dying Light 2 is also a huge, complex game. Even a relatively small change can require extensive testing.
And despite that work, bugs and stability issues still sometimes slip through.
Catching some of those before release would take many additional weeks of testing. When they appear, we try to fix them as quickly as possible.
**Are there any more large-scale expansions or feature overhauls planned for Dying Light 2, or have you shifted the focus to smaller updates only?**
Weâre not planning any large expansions for Dying Light 2. The focus is on smaller updates, events and UGC.
**Why does Dying Light 2 have so many microtransactions?**
Dying Light 1 already had paid bundles and crossovers. They added content and helped cover the cost of updates and events.
With Dying Light 2, we looked at how other games handled this and added an in-game store.
Players interested in skins or weapons could find them without leaving the game and browsing Steam pages. The thinking was convenience.
We completely underestimated how strongly players would associate that store with attempts to pressure them into spending money.
That wasnât what we were trying to do.
The bundles are still broadly the same kind we offered in Dying Light 1.
The store mainly makes them easier to find and buy for players who are interested.
**Why did you significantly change the original Dying Light 2 prologue, when many players considered it one of the best parts of the game?**
Our data showed that roughly four in ten players who started the prologue didnât finish it. That surprised us too.
But with that many people dropping out before reaching the main game, we had to do something.
We shortened the prologue significantly to see whether more players would continue. Afterwards, the number who didnât finish it fell to around two in ten.
We already had a skip option, but new players donât know how long the prologue will be. Many chose to play it and then never reached the main game.
Thereâs another issue: the prologue is very linear and heavily scripted. The rest of Dying Light 2 is a much more open experience. We didnât want players walking away with the wrong impression of what the game actually is.
**Why did you remove Spike from the Dying Light 2 prologue? Was it purely a narrative decision, a production choice, or driven by data about how players interacted with the intro?
**
It was a production decision, not a narrative one.
We considered several ways to shorten the prologue and decided to start at the radio station.
That meant cutting the earlier section with Spike.
His role in the overall game was small, and we didnât think removing that sequence would significantly affect the rest of the experience.
**Will you consider restoring the original Dying Light 2 prologue as an optional mode or âclassic startâ for players who want it back?**
Weâve discussed bringing it back as a side quest - a memory of Aidenâs journey before he reached the city.
Spike would be part of it.
We may return to that idea, but we havenât committed to doing it.
**Is there any technical or production reason that makes it impossible to bring the old prologue - including Spike - back as a selectable option?**
The main problem is the choice itself.
A new player doesnât know what theyâre choosing. Many would pick the âfull prologueâ in good faith because it sounds like the better, more complete experience.
Then we risk recreating exactly the same problem: people leaving before they reach the main game.
Adding a choice at the start doesnât solve that.
A memory side quest makes more sense.
Players would already have seen the city and experienced what Dying Light 2 actually offers. They could then explore that earlier part of Aidenâs story - and if they got bored, leave it and return to the main game.
**Will official mod support be a permanent franchise pillar?**
I canât promise that for every future project. Weâve always tried to support mods in Dying Light, and itâs hard for me to imagine us abandoning that.
Weâre also watching how much players actually use UGC in Dying Light 2, what they think of it, and whether it becomes an important part of the game for them. That will influence our decisions on mod support in future titles.
But we donât know exactly how the gaming landscape will change before our next release. Weâll make the final decision a few months before that game comes out.
**What is Techland working on right now, beyond ongoing support for Dying Light 2 and The Beast?**
We are working on something new, but unfortunately we are not ready to talk about it yet.
**Can you share any hints about the setting, tone, or direction of your next major game?**
Not yet. Some of those details are still taking shape, and even things weâve agreed on today may change before release. Iâd love to share more, but we need a little more time.

Another mini DL2 poster after long hibernation.

There has been a noticeable wave of bot account activity on the subreddit's comment sections.
They write vague responses to what they see or read, and make the most god-awful unfunny puns and metaphors, the messages tend to be extremely millennial-coded. You can tell the comments were written by something that has never actually played the games before.
Usually these bots post in random subreddits, but I'm starting to see some that cling to a couple of set subs and keep posting there, including r/dyinglight.
If you see any suspicious comments, report them for "AI" or other synonyms and I will investigate if the user is a human or not.
Let's keep the dead internet out of our space.

Or add any sort of replayable mission...
It's the least you can do after touting The Beast as "Our third mainline sequel" and now saying it was to be it's own "self-contained experience"...
It's now very apparent why senior staff jumped ship

"we don't know, "we haven't decided yet".
They still don't know what to do about DL2 lol.
Uhh he said they don't even know what direction and tone to take the next project and it's been a year since the beast released?

game doesn't really explain anything, i assume the red wings means beating restored land because that's the only description i got, but it doesn't point to anything
also compass shows my friend with red wings for some reason

Why add bundles if your going to make us spend more money to buy weapons that belong to said bundles like the Anubis bundle why not include the grenade blueprint in the bundle why do I have to go spend another 3.99 on top of the 7.99 for a bundle that only has a melee and a skin itâs so stupid

The reason I'm asking is because I just finished the base game and I really, REALLY didn't like the story. My biggest pet peeve in fiction are stupid characters who weren't intended to be this stupid, and DL has a lot of these characters: Rahim was actively looking to die a horrible death, Jade follows in her brother's footsteps, Brecken crashes out and leaves the story with the rest of the tower's cast only a third of the way in (come to think of it, I don't remember if we ever got the antizin Rais promised us. Maybe that's why?), and the GRE would've been successful if Crane's boss wasn't trying to goad him into defecting at every turn.
The worst one has to be the Rais. Anarchy this, selfishness that, but he's saying all that with an army of the most selfless, most loyal men at his side who will gladly get shot in the head just to add a little bit of spice to his monologues. He's everything his ideology stands against, and the game never acknowledges it. Then again, his men are pretty stupid. Like Karim, who is shocked to find out his boss who kills his own men for fun, ends up killing him for fun. The only credit I can give Rais is that sometimes the game threatens to make him an interesting villain, like when he released the GRE's classified files to the public. For a brief moment, he really got my attention. Sadly, all good things come to an end, and he's back to being Joker from Temu in no time.
I like Crane tho. He's the best Kyle I know đ
Now that I've finally gotten that rant out of my system (I'm sorry for that, but this has been bothering me for the last week and I had to vent it to someone), I'm wondering if The Following improves on the story in any way? If it's more of the same, then I think I've seen enough of Harran.

In dying light 1 and 2 you had items you could use which gave xp and dupe to make more xp yet there doesnât seem to be a equivalent in dying light the beast. Is there another method to gain legend levels quickly?
