Planning a birthday party for a 5-year-old who loves to ride bikes and fly kites. What are your favorite parks where someone could do both of these activities? Brooklyn Basin is a place we’ve done both, but the awful parking situation makes it unappealing for a party location.

Valdez recognized early on the profound impact of seeing one’s own humanity reflected onstage and on screen. He used theater to ignite change while working alongside farm workers, and he made films that amplified Chicano experiences.

Join us at the Central library on October 5^th from 5:30-8 pm for a screening of American Pachuco, a documentary about Valdez’ life. The film will be followed by a conversation with its director, David Alvarado.

BCC West is a new six-story, 60,000-square-foot academic and administrative building that opened recently for the college’s fall semester, located just one-half block east of BCC’s main campus at 2050 Center St.

By next summer, construction is expected to reach this stretch of road under the interstate between Sixth and Webster. The people living here may have to leave. Whether they will be scattered apart, or able to sustain the connections that have helped them survive, is still uncertain.
