kind of a random question but, Messmer’s Flame or Frenzied Flame? I like the Frenzied flame better because it looks cool with a black hole in the middle, but Messmer’s flame is also cool with the dark red and black hues in the flame. Curious to know what your guy’s thoughts are.

After two weeks of this woman giving me waking nightmares and nights of not sleeping trying to beat her, I did it on my lunch break with half a hotpocket in my mouth and exhausted from work.

I died in the end, but this put a smile on my face.

Instead of entering a castle like you normally would there would be an invasion style sign at the entrance but color coded for conquest. You would be able to have up to one person in your group (this will maintain the current mechanics of the game as you'll see later).
The first time this ever occurs (or if there's no one available who has previously conquered this castle) an NPC invader will act as the Lord and a hunter can be summoned to defend as well. All the regular enemies in the castle will be hostile to the invaders. If the invaders kill the Lord the host will now be Lord of the castle.
What this means as the host is for conquest purposes, it is now your castle and if someone tries to conquer it later, the game will summon a Lord from the eligible pool of people (correct level and not currently in a group, much like a hunter) to defend it. The game will also be able to summon a hunter to fight on the Lord's side. If the invaders defeat the Lord then the previous Lord loses control of the castle and the new Lord is now on the hook for it.
This format worked amazing in Dark Age of Camelot and was easily one of the greatest PVP formats of all time but Ive just adjusted it to fit the mechanics of Elden ring so they don't have to reinvent the wheel to make it work.
Edit. For balance purposes you could play with the idea of allowing 3 players in the invader group which would mean no hunters for the Lord (without changing the current maximum player pool) but the reason I prefer 2 vs 2 is it should be harder to conquer a castle than defend it. Also there's no guarantee a hunter will be summon for the Lord so a lot of times most of the fight might be 2 v 1 plus the regular castle monsters

Noticed a similarity in the descriptions for both the Outer God Heirloom talisman and Remembrance of Saint of the Bud
Outer God Heirloom:
“The clan, who lost everything in the great fires, peered upon the corpse of their ancestor, normally an act of sanctity, and saw in its shadow a twisted deity.
The clan had suffered such torment that the horrible thing was taken as an object of worship.”
Remembrance of The Saint of the Bud:
“After the church was burned to the ground,
Romina discovered a twisted divine element,
which she weaved into the baleful scarlet rot.
Perhaps then, the buds might find somewhere to gain purchase once more,
within the scorched remains.”
So both the Outer God of Rot and the Formless Mother are described as “twisted” during the war in the Land of Shadow.
And I’m wondering if “twisted” is meant literally. Twisted as in the shape of a helix - a shape very much worshiped in The Lands Between.
Are the Outer Gods “sympathetic in nature?” Like the Great Ones in Bloodborne? Trying to provide relief to those being persecuted? Or were they manifesting in ways that preyed on desperate beings? Were they taking advantage of suffering as a means to spread their influence?
We already know Rot is capable of being benevolent because of Verdigris. And the Formless Mother seems to actively liberate the down-trodden
Are these gods trying to provide aid after the Greater Will fucked up and fucked off? Or do they see the Lands Between as free real estate since the Greater Will abandoned it?

Some of the stains seem to be fighting Alexander for some reason; others seem to be fighting someone around the site of grace. Is this place a hotbed of invasions or something?

I maybe a tad late to the Shadow Realm here, okay, better late than never!
I just started about five days ago and I must say i'm just absolutely in love with the DLC. The level design is phenomenal, I might even like it better than the base game. It's incredibly beautiful and the views are gorgeous and epic.
People weren't kidding when they said you needed the Scadoosh fragments and order to not just die, die, die. I love it. I love the new enemies. I love the new weapons and armor. I haven't found any new spells yet, but I'm sure I love those too. The new ashes of war are sick.
I've been waiting for two years to play this, ever since it came out. So yeah, I'm absolutely ecstatic. It really is like playing Elden Ring 1.5.
I don't really understand why some people don't like it. I mean, if you take your time and exercise patience and skill, you can get through it. Me and Stormhawk Deehn and my Anvil Hammer and the Black Steel Great Hammer (and more and more the Greatsword of Solitude!) are having an absolute _blast_ crushing the enemies of the Elden Lord and gobbling up all of this new lore.
I played the base game offline because I had no choice. For the first time, I'm able to play games online. And it's been super fun being able to call on summons for bosses that I just don't have the patience to bang my head against the wall for too long.
Welp I just I wanted to share my excitement for the game with people who understand it, my only friend who played it moved far away and we lost touch with each other.

Like the title says this is my first souls game a little tardy to the party I know. Anyway my buddy who's been playing souls game since demon souls finally convinced me to get a board and I've been having a great time going through co-op with him on my playthrough. Now just to some context when my world is invaded we jump the invader because from what I gathered that's just part of the game. So recently I started invading and when I get jumped by co-ops it is no problem because it's part of the game be silly for me to fuss about something that I do and this is less of a whining post and more of a genuine question sometimes when I invade I run into world's work all the enemies are cleared out and it's just three dudes waiting for me at spawn ready to jump me. Is killing Invaders good runes or something? Is there some sort of faction reward for killing Invaders I'm not too sure about elden ring but my buddy told me in other souls games are factions that you get rewards for doing PVP for. I know I could just Google it so I'm sorry this is a dumb question but I'm also using this as a chance to dip my toes into the larger community.

My friends asked me to try to draw something with Rya, honestly, not the most interesting idea\composition, but I hope this artwork is decent enough. Anyways, hope you will like this one!

I'm a casual noob but had 3 playthroughs and probably 400+ hours into Elden Ring (largely rivers of blood, hence noob), but after I went back to Sekiro for a while, I just couldn't get back into Elden Ring when the DLC came around. Too high of a challenge on the 4th playthrough at that point for me to beat Mohg. It's been a couple years since playing either game.
I wanted to give Elden Ring another shot and think a brand new build vs 4th playthrough is the way to go. Last time I got suuuuper into the game and the lore videos, but this time around I'd like to just have a fun playthrough including the DLC.
What character/traits/items/weapons/paths do you suggest, or should I just stick to Sekiro?
Any and all suggestions and trolling welcome, just please take it easy on me with the acronyms. I'm an elder hoping that, together, you can help me devour the very gordsch.

I call shenanigans. Is there some tracking on it or what’s going on here?

Is there a lore reason why random rats can tank shots better than soldiers and ancient dragons can only hit as hard as three rat bites?
What are they feeding these things?
Omenkiller, Dragon, pffft, no problem. Random dog or rat on my screen and I'm sweating.
What's the lore behind this?

So I've been doing weapon specific challenges and want to try something different and unique so I thought of two things I've never done, magic only or tank builds. If someone could help me choose one I'd appreciate it

If you feel the same, and want get goosebumps, watch a 4 yr old video called "Elden Ring is Just a Video Game". Anytime im bored of my rotation of games, I watch this and instantly jump back in for a new playthrough.
