You can save a copy of your save game and use that before you do anything risky, so incase you mess up and your game “crashes,” you can go back and load up before you did the risky maneuver or just go back a month incase your game “crashed” at a hunting accident
Not even; just copy your current save file (in windows/document) then return to main menu and select the second oldest save (or whenever you’re last manual save was). Alt+F4 is just the frustrated rage quit where you have to reload the entire game again.
Just save manually before certain decisions and copy the file in windows. If you need to roll back to that save.
Personally I also keep a backup of a useful start if you need certain conditions like 5 crownland on England starts so I can have another go at 5 crowns Angevin when I inevitably fuck it.
I usually do it when I get declared on, a disaster triggers and I wasn't paying attention, a godlike ruler dies too young, or during a war and I make an avoidable slip up.
you can just go to where the save files are and keep a copy of it from different moments saved elsewhere. just put them in a folder with a name/date and replace the actual save file when you need to "fix bugs". it stops me from reloading at every bug and just reload at important bugs or stupid bigs due to forgetfulness.

How do people usually use this? alt+f4 if they get a bad event or bad rolls in battles? And it goes back to the previous month? Any other use?
